Meet Luke, our straight-A student!🎓

He just returned from a Doggie Date and absolutely aced his report card! His new friends said he knows “leave it,” sits like a champ, walks great on leash, and rides in the car like a total pro.

Luke started out a little shy, but once he warmed up, he was gentle, polite meeting new people, and oh-so-cuddly!

Volunteer of the Month!⭐️

Ro joined NHA in 2022 and has been an incredible supporter ever since! Ro is a familiar face at nearly all of our big events — from Mutt Strutt and Cause for Paws to Unleashed and Dog Day — as well as countless smaller ones like Puppy Parties, Backstage Bark Breaks, Pup Cup, and Puppy Bowl. Always cheerful, approachable, and eager to help, Ro’s positivity shines through in everything she does. Outside of volunteering, Ro is a graduate student at Vanderbilt University, where she studies genetics, race, health, embodiment, and resiliency. Her research explores how life experiences are embodied by Black populations throughout Latin America, with a particular focus on the Spanish Caribbean and the Dominican Republic. Ro brings that same passion for connection, empathy, and understanding to her work with NHA. We are so grateful for her dedication and for the joy she brings to our team and the community!

Looking to make a shelter dog feel extra "thankful" this Thanksgiving?🦃

Apply to participate in Furriendsgiving! This unique Foster opportunity allows you to have a shelter pup in your home over Thanksgiving, giving them a chance to spend the holiday with new family and friends!

The steps are simple. Head to nashvillehumane.org/volunteer-foster/foster-info and apply for Furriendsgiving! You don't have to currently be an NHA Foster, all we ask is that you are 18+ and live within a 30-mile radius of our shelter. Upon approval, our team will match you with the perfect pup to add to your holiday crew!

🐾Pick up - November 23rd, 24th, 25th, and 26th
🐾Return - November 28th, 29th, and 30th

Our goal is to get EVERY shelter pup into a loving home this Thanksgiving, giving them a glimpse at a forever home and a break from the stressful, shelter setting. Ready to make our pups extra "thankful"? Apply now!🤎

P.S. - Cats are not part of Furriendsgiving because they require longer periods of time to decompress in a home. If you would like to Foster a cat for longer, email [email protected]!

Sandy spent National Take a Hike Day doing something brave, taking her first real adventure outside the shelter.🥾

She started off shut down and unsure, but with every step on the trail, she opened up a little more. Moments like this are possible because of our Doggie Date Program, which gives our community a chance to take a shelter dog out for the day!

Barron has been with us since May, waiting to be noticed. Despite all the posts, photos, and shares, he’s still being overlooked...

So, we’re giving him a fresh start and a new name: Meet Bubbles!🫧

Why Bubbles? Because they make him happy! They bring out his playful, silly side, the side of him that we hope everyone will get to see. It’s a little spark of joy, just like the joy he’ll bring to the family who chooses him!

He’s the same loving, loyal boy he’s always been, just with a name that matches the personality we know someone will fall in love with. Could today be the day Bubbles finally finds the family he’s been waiting for?💙
