UPDATE ADOPTED - Introducing Dina!💗
This sweet girl was rescued from a puppy mill and made her way to Nashville Humane, where she received the love and care she needed from our Foster Program and Vet Team. But she wasn’t quite ready for her new home just yet... she needed one last special touch, a makeover!
Thanks to our amazing friends at Bark Public House, Dina received the loving treatment she always deserved, and now she's looking her best and ready for a forever family. We are excited to report she is officially available for adoption today, so we hope you'll come visit her!💗

The NHA March Staff Member of the Month is... 🥁 Brittany!
Brittany began her journey with us on the Animal Care team, where she demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the behavior and happiness of every animal that came through our doors. She then transitioned to the Vet Services team, where her previous experience and dedication to the health of our animals have made her a great addition to the team. Brittany’s effort to provide compassionate care shines through as she takes extra time with our shyer animals, ensuring their experience at the clinic is positive and stress-free. She has a strong work ethic and thrives in our fast-paced environment, always being one our staff members and animals can count on. Thank you for everything you do, Brittany!
CONGRATS, BRITTANY - You are the most deserving of the coveted parking spot and more!
300 days later...
...and Maude is still waiting. Maude isn’t like most dogs you meet. She was born with a respiratory condition that requires a little extra care, and sadly, that’s been enough to make her invisible to many adopters. While other dogs get noticed, Maude is often forgotten and overlooked.
But what people don't realize is that Maude has so much love to give. Her condition doesn’t define her, it's just one part of her story. Maude is also affectionate, playful, and so smart.
She’s spent far too long in our shelter walls, longing for someone to choose her, to see her for the sweet girl she is, beyond the medical condition. If you’ve ever thought about adopting, please don’t let her story pass you by. Maude is waiting with a heart full of love, just needing a chance to show you how much happiness she could bring into your life. She’s not asking for perfection, just for someone to believe in her.❤️

When you hear Dijon still hasn't been adopted...
If you ask our team, everyone will agree that Dijon is a staff favorite! He is the definition of a lap cat that loves nothing more than being by his humans. He watches all the foot traffic in our shelter, waits by the door for someone to visit him, and will curl up in your lap for as long as you'll let him. Dijon is immunocompromised, so he will require some additional TLC, but that shouldn't stop you from giving him a chance. He has SO much love to give and is ready to spoil you with affection for years to come!🧡

The NHA February Staff Member of the Month is... 🥁 Zuza!
Zuza prioritizes the care of every animal that finds themselves at NHA. She observes, analyzes behavior, problem-solves, and engages with others, for information to best support both the animals and her team. She enjoys time with the animals, working on behavior plans, and seeing how rewarding the impact and results can be. She assisted on cruelty cases in both April and July 2024, supporting the efforts of handling and bringing many fearful pups out of a difficult situation both on-site and in our care. She recently advocated to support volunteers with more education, when handling challenging pets and will be helping teach our new ‘Yellow Level Dog’ shadow volunteer training. She’s active in her own education, independently pursuing opportunities that will help her grow. This year she completed an in-person course and passed her CCPDT-KA certification, now a Certified Professional Dog Trainer. She steps up to lend a helping hand, translating for departments, to support a pet going home. Zuza we are so thankful to have you at NHA --for your passion, drive, and commitment to helping shelter pets.
