TPLO surgery day is complete and we are on the mend! Malinois on meds can be like riding a bull from time to time but nothing beats having a solid baseline obedience to fall back on during those moments that are out of our control. Plus he’s my ride or die, so really no option to fail him.

Ridgeside K9 Nashville utilized beautiful Cedar Hill Park this morning for a pack walk. Can’t beat the scenery and the ability to move in and out of distractions at will. Pack walks are a multifaceted training tool that enables the client to proof their training in a real world environment amongst people that are working through similar issues with their own dog, with a tad bit of oversight if they need it.

Man we have some awesome clients that proved they are not only keeping up with the training, but taking it to the next level. We dealt with some close proximity drills, bridges, untrained dogs, and the ever notorious geese! Confidence boosted for both dog and handler. I am honored to have such an amazing group of people in this pack! Super proud of every single one of them.

Especially Sissy, who broke out of the hospital so she wouldn’t miss the walk🤷🏼‍♂️❤️

Place work was the name of the game yesterday. Place work and the ability for the dog to stay when asked carries a lot of value for most families. From the kids baseball games, holiday parties, or the maintenance man working on something in the apartment; the ability for your dog to “stay” in these scenarios can be a game changer.

Walking on the leash was a no go, and lack of communication prevalent. Easy day, especially with owners like this that are committed to following through with training and giving these two their best lives. Ms. Lulas story is wonderful one, and it’s not over yet. Lula was saved by her current owner from a POS that beat the hell outta her attempting to make her a fight dog🤬. This woman has a heart of gold. I say that because not only did she go outta her way to rescue this beautiful girl but she also had the courage to have the difficult conversation with me that her home is not set up for Lula to have her best life. Her children have taken over the home and as a mother and grandmother that’s the priority and that’s ok. She is holding on tight but looking for a forever home for Ms. Lula.

Lula’s obedience is fantastic. She is good with kids, the postal service, and as long as you have time for multiple belly rubs from strangers, then there’s no store she can’t accompany you in😉. If you think you want to be apart of this amazing story and you can offer Lula the home she deserves, call me direct and I will facilitate a meet and greet. I will provide FREE training to whomever takes her instilling a seamless transition into your home. Lula got a second chance at life and she’s proven she’s worthy of it. Mr. Oakley was having some confidence issues resulting in some pretty awful encounters with guest and people coming to the door. Little man had the whole house frazzled. Took us a good bit to build in the communication but at least now there is some peace in the house now. He will be missed but I look forward to some amazing updates from these guys. Crawl, walk, run methodology was paramount with this guy. Took us a hot minute to get in the groove but once the confidence boosted and we could effectively communicate, off to the races! I understood the surface meaning of that at the time, but didn’t realize the depth to which that statement would/could impact training until recently. Mr. Chase and I started on some rocky ground. Chase’s instinct is to bite when something makes him nervous….and everything makes him nervous 😬. However, this morning was different. Chase looked up at me and his whole body said “I don’t 100% trust you yet, but we’re good”. So I took him up on his offer and we shared a breakfast of champions 🤣🤣 Moral of the story is communication with your dog.
