An oldie but goodie! Check out Roy as he waits patiently in place while all the people go by in the park. What a good boy!
Roy is a perfect example of how training can transform your dog into a well-behaved companion. At The Dog Wizard, we emphasize the importance of patience and impulse control, helping dogs thrive in any environment.
Whether it’s sitting calmly in a bustling park or mastering other essential commands, our training programs are designed to meet each dog’s unique needs and help them excel.

Fantastic team work! Merle came to us a very nervous and reactive girl. Walks were becoming too stressful for everyone in the family. Lots of leash work while redirecting her focus, helped her see things differently and has her prancing with confidence!
Roy waiting patiently on ‘place’ for his release while everyone passes by at the park. 😎🙌🏼🐶 What a good boy!!!
Snow the Bulldog finished our 2 week Jumpstart program about a week ago. Mack the Mastiff puppy is going through his take-home lesson here after his 1 week jumpstart. As you can see, Snow wanted to make it clear that he could do anything that Mack did and held his place for the entire lesson! Show off! Congrats to the family on working so hard with these two.
The Transitional Leash works by applying gentle pressure on your pup's nose - a natural pressure point. So when your dog pulls, rather than yanking and straining their tracheas on a flat collar, it just puts a bit of pressure down gently on their snout to help keep your dog calm and focused on YOU. 🐶💙
Way to go Lucy!

You can build your dog’s confidence with exercises on an A-Frame or ‘Placing’ up on a bench or table at a park.
And they have fun doing it! 🐶👏🏻💙
Way to go Marty!!

This big guy is always fun to start the morning with! Mack will one day be A LOT of dog to handle and his family was prepared to get ahead of it. We are building a solid foundation of commands and leash work to show Mack how fun listening can be at a very young and impressionable age.
Our foundations class worked on leash manners and impulse control last Saturday during class. The goal is to show these dogs just because a dog passes doesn’t mean that’s an opportunity to bark, lunge, jump, etc. Staying calm in a sit position is an opportunity for praise and rewards. With some hard work and practice, I’d say these dogs are really starting to get the hang of it! 👏🏼😎👊🏼
Today, I had @jaredallen69 and his daughter work on leash control with a bunch of stimuli. The goal is for the family to be able to walk Hunny without her pulling them down if she becomes reactive. By having Benny chase the ball back and forth, we got to fine tune Hunny’s sit/stay, reactivity, and impulse control. Looking forward to her improvement!
We know Goose would have no trouble jumping into Dad’s car, but Goose says “think again humans”! He’s physically capable but not mentally ready. Since we have built a solid place/bed command, we can use it to build his confidence with surfaces at the same height or higher than the car. This take away the fear of the actual car until his confidence is up for the task. You can do it, Goose!
Loud and fast moving vehicles are a big trigger for Leroy. He would pace, lunge, and bark when he felt anxious. With controlled exposure and use of the slip leash, we are able to communicate calm is better. Instead of pacing or reacting, Leroy understands the best option is to stop, sit, and stay calm. 🐾👏🏼
Keep it up, Onyx! This is going really well now that we are using a consistent method of communicating through the leash. We want to keep things very simple to minimize any confusion.
JT deserves props! Check out how gentle he is being with his owners leash hand. They have been seriously working on their loose leash walking skills. Good job!
Here we have siblings Emma, Simon, and Junior. Walking three big dogs is not an easy task, but with a little bit of structure and leash work, it turns into a walk in the park. 👊🏼
