It is bittersweet for me to announce that tonight I held my last BRiGHTDOG graduation class in East Tennessee. I cannot thank my clients and their families enough for the love and support that you guys have shown me over the years. There have been as many friends made as there have been memories and I'm thankful for each one of them!

Although it may be the closing of a chapter …. It is definitely not the end of the book… for the past 6 years, BRiGHTDOG has called the Elizabethton chamber of commerce home. … I couldn't have done it without you buddy. Thank you for always believing in me and supporting me in this dream.
My next chapter begins in Nashville, Tennessee! I hope to begin training pups and pet parents in Middle Tennessee shortly.
If you have a story of our training time together or want to share a picture of any of the pups that I've trained over the past 6 years…. It would be greatly appreciated!
I'm beyond grateful for the love East Tennessee has shown me and BRiGHTDOG training!

Welcome to Bright Dog!

My name is Melissa and I have been in the dog training world for over 10 years. My dog training passion started in college when I volunteered at an organization that helped “un-train” service dogs and police dogs to fit into a family setting. From there I studied different dog training techniques from a variety of sources and mentors. I formulated all of the knowledge together to form “Bright Dog”.

At Bright Dog, we are an in home, private or group class that teaches and trains with the Positive Reinforcement training method known as “click and treat”. You would be surprised at what you can get your dog to do for a treat! Classes can be individual or groups (I always suggest the groups unless your pup has a hard time making friends) and they meet once a week for 4-5 weeks (depending on the number of dogs and the training barriers we may run into). Below is a breakdown of the specific classes we offer:

Puppy/ Beginner Class: sit, stay, down, leave it, drop it, a come when call, and an emergency call and leash walking. We also work on the behavioral problems that are more common in puppies such as; chewing, biting, barking, dominance and the roll you play in it, jumping, and just about anything else under the sun.
