Matthew 25:35 powerfully reflects the priority God places on feeding the hungry. Jesus very practically teaches the qualifications for inheriting the kingdom of God when He states, “I was hungry, and you fed me.” Our mandate to feed the hungry has not changed in 2000 years, and it must remain our priority now! Cul2vate seeks to engage poverty at the point of hunger and deliver nutritional food to

those who are hungry. Our work is founded upon two principles intertwined for the betterment of its farmers. The first is the most important - providing for the nourishment of the body and the soul! Through the food production in our “tunnels”, we are decreasing the food desert in Middle Tennessee by growing superior quality vegetables and increasing nutritional accessibility to those who are hungry. The second principle creates an opportunity for future full-time employment for our farmers by providing much needed life skills and business skills training. These tunnel sites are the training grounds for those who want to break the generational cycle of poverty by learning to feed themselves and others through agriculture and employment.

Dry goods also offer essential nutrients and can be used in a variety of dishes, making them adaptable for different dietary needs and cultural preferences. Unlike fresh or refrigerated items, they have minimal risk of going to waste, aligning with our mission to reduce food waste while maximizing our impact! Lastly, dry goods are especially crucial for neighbors who may not have refrigeration or cooking equipment, providing them with reliable options for nutritious meals.
