Meet Theia, a darling, petite, young terrier mix with the cutest baby face and an inspiring story of survival.

Sadly, Theia has obviously endured a lot of hardship and neglect in her young life. When she was found by a kind lady, she was emaciated and very sick, too weak to even stand. Theia’s heroic rescuer reached out to FAUNA, who was able to help Theia get the life-saving emergency medical care she desperately needed. This care, along with her devoted foster Mom have aided Theia in making a miraculous recovery.

Despite her past, Theia has shown remarkable bravery, bouncing back as a beacon of hope and resilience.
Theia has also become quite the cuddle bug, always ready to snuggle up for a warm hug. Her sweet and gentle spirit is evident in her friendly interactions with both human and animal friends. She’s the perfect companion for anyone seeking a loyal, affectionate and intelligent pet.

After all she has endured, Theia deserves a loving home where she can continue to grow and thrive. Her resilience and unwavering spirit are sure to bring joy and inspiration to any household.

For more information about Theia, please reach out to FAUNA (Friends All United For Natchitoches Animals) at [email protected] or npfauna.org

FAUNA knows the perfect way to make a bitter cold day feel SO WARM – HAVE AN ADOPTION.
Janis’ foster mom and dad delivered her to the Natchitoches dog park for a meet and greet with Amanda and her rescue dog Aspen. It was a perfect place for them to get to know each other but it was COLD. The happiness of the day made us toasty warm with love. The dogs didn't mind the cold weather one bit. They were so calm with each other like they had known each other forever.
Janis went home with Aspen and Amanda. Great updates are coming in. Janis is adjusting and getting to know Aspen. Aspen needed a friend and now he has one lovely, kind, gentle, playful girl named Janis.
Amanda, thank you for adopting Janis.
A big huge thanks goes out to Marie and Matt, who met Janis at the NSU Veterinary Technology program where Janis volunteered in the fall 2024 semester. Marie took her home on weekends and showed this once neglected dog that there is love and a good life in this world for her. Marie got Janis ready for the life she was born to have with a loving family.

Be a responsible pet owner and good human being.

* Bring your pets inside if possible.
* Make a warm, safe place with lots of straw if available. Hay is the next best thing, but avoid blankets, or towels, they collect moisture and will stay damp making your dog colder. Put more straw or hay than you think is needed, dogs will burrow to keep themselves warm.
* Heat lamps are great if you have electricity.
* Turn houses away from direct wind.
* Dog houses too large do not hold heat well.
* Tarps are useful to help block the wind.
* Check pet medications and food for adequate supply in case you are stranded.
* Keep collar and tags with updated information on your pet.
* Check fencing for adequate security in case of high winds.
* Check and clean paws as needed if exposed to salt or deicer.
* Wipe paws and pet down when bringing back inside.
* Increase food portions and intake for your pet.
* Keep fresh water for your pet. It will freeze quickly.
* Keep antifreeze out of reach and clean up spills.
* Limit walks during freezing temperatures.
* Check on your elderly neighbors and family members.
* Check and wrap your pipes to prevent freezing.

Social butterfly Willow was pooped at 4:30 today so we gave her a break and shut down collecting donations in front of Exchange Bank on Front Street. Before Willow went home with her foster dad, Dexter Martin, she walked to Hello Dolly to personally thank a special lady that has brought her closer to have her surgery. Sonia Wiley Monk bought tickets for Willow's Split the pot raffle, she won the raffle and happily gave her winning back to Willow. Today Willow surprised Sonia when she went to thank Sonia personally.
Thank you Sonia and all the FAUNA friends that donated.
