Thrive Pet Healthcare - Natick A first-of-its-kind pet healthcare network dedicated to helping your pet thrive through every stage of their life
(46)

Thrive Pet Healthcare - Natick is a full-service, state-of-the-art, small-animal practice. Our staff includes six general practice veterinarians, one mobile veterinarian for home and nursing home visits and a surgeon. A visiting specialist provides ultrasound and endoscopic imaging services on-site. The clinic focuses on medical, surgical, preventive and dental care and has been accredited by the

American Animal Hospital Association for more than 50 years, a status that is reserved for only a small number of hospitals nation-wide. We offer a primary care practice model that allows you and your pet to establish a trusting and consistent relationship with your pet’s veterinarian, much like you have with your own family doctor. Nearly every time your pet requires medical attention, your appointment will be with your pet’s primary care veterinarian. Natick provides other pet care services as well, like a contemporary kennel facility with outdoor runs and a grooming salon that pampers both cats and dogs. With this variety of services on the premises, the clinic aims to create an all-encompassing, convenient and customer-friendly experience for our clients. Natick is unique in the community for its reputation for excellence in medical care and for its accommodating seven-day operational schedule. Our practitioners also provide evening on-call services, another unique feature that most general practice hospitals do not provide. After business hours and until 10:00 pm, you can reach one of our staff associates within 30 minutes of calling our answering service.

Meet Dolly! ❤ This sweet girl found some delicious rocks to play with. 🤭 Thanks to some quick thinking by her owner, she was rushed to our hospital, and our skilled emergency team removed the rocks using an endoscope. That meant she didn't have to have invasive surgery, and Dolly was recovering at home in no time!

“I have been going to Family Pet Animal Hospital since I moved to Chicago. The staff is always so kind, patient, and educational—things that are important to me as an anxious cat mom! All the veterinarians are incredible and care for my cat like one of their own. I have moved around the city, but always keep Juno (my cat) at FPAH because they always take the time to talk to me through what is going on, follow up regularly, and answer any questions I may have.” — Morgan G. from Family Pet Animal Hospital, a Thrive Pet Healthcare Partner in Chicago

“Dr. Basilio and the staff at Thrive Pet Healthcare saved my dogs life! I cannot thank them enough, they were absolutely amazing! My dog had kennel cough, which quickly turned into double pneumonia and sepsis. Dr. Basilio was quick to come up with a treatment plan and told me we needed to act quick because he didn’t look good. She was kind, patient, and understanding with me. Dr. Basilio’s quick actions saved Lupo and he has made an incredible comeback! He’s still on the mend, but he looks better every day!

Veterinary collaboration at its finest! 💪

Recently, a German Shepherd with gastric dilation and volvulus (GDV) was transferred from Veterinary Emergency Group to San Jose Animal Hospital, a Thrive Pet Healthcare partner, where Dr. Stone and the team performed a successful emergency surgery. After careful monitoring post-op, the patient was returned to VEG for overnight care.

“I can't thank the team at Elk Grove Veterinary Specialty & Emergency enough. I called on a Sunday morning after seeing something alarming with my dog. The entire team was very kind, caring, and loving toward my dog, Gordon. Adrienne even brought a bed in so Gordon could be comfortable while we waited for his test results. Obviously no pet owner wants to need emergency services for their furry family member, but if the need arises I absolutely recommend Elk Grove Veterinary Specialty & Emergency. Staff even followed up with us, and when I was unsure about his symptoms after his visit, they took the time again to check with the vet and provide me options. Happy to report Gordon is on the mend and feeling much better. Thank you!” — Gabriella D. on her experience at Elk Grove Veterinary Specialty and Emergency

cancer is a leading cause of illness in pets, but early detection can make all the difference. Staying alert for symptoms and acting quickly can significantly improve your pet’s chances of recovery. Spotting the signs sooner allows for timely treatment and a better quality of life.

Remember, it’s important to have pet insurance early in your pet's life so a cancer diagnosis is not considered a pre-existing condition.

Let’s spread awareness and help keep our pets healthy and happy! 🐕 🐈 💙

Leptospirosis is a zoonotic disease that can be transmissible between humans and pets, and can be fatal in severe cases. Please be sure to discuss this vaccine at your next visit or call the clinic if you have any questions! 508-653-5020. 🐾

🚨 Important Update: Leptospirosis Now a Core Vaccine for ALL Dogs
The 2022 AAHA Canine Vaccination Guidelines have been updated to classify the leptospirosis vaccine as CORE for all dogs starting at 12 weeks of age – regardless of lifestyle, location, or breed.
Why the change?
🌆 ALL dogs are at risk—urban, suburban, and rural.
⚠️ Potentially fatal, even with treatment.
🔄 Zoonotic—it can spread from pets to humans.
🏢 Dogs in daycare and kennels also face exposure risks.
You can find the full update in the Nov/Dec issue of JAAHA, or check out the full 2022 Canine Vaccination Guidelines here: aaha.org/canine-vaccinations

A Heartfelt Thanks from Your Local Police Department!

We recently received this wonderful message from a local resident and wanted to share the appreciation with the entire community. 💙❤️🐶

"I completely understand why I can’t post this directly to your page, but I wanted to extend a HUGE thanks of gratitude for helping reunite the sweet lost dog with her dad today. This was the post:

I wanted to extend a Huge Thank You toward Sergeant Arena, Officer Kane, and the third wonderful officer (whose name I didn’t catch) for being extraordinarily kind to this sweet girl who was lost today. They spent an extensive amount of time successfully tracking down her owner. It was so heartwarming, and all of you are very much appreciated! Thank you!!”

We are proud to serve such a caring community and are always here to lend a hand when needed. It’s moments like these that remind us why we do what we do! 🐾

Thank you for your support and trust!

Kidney (or renal) disease is very common in dogs and cats, and it may be reversible or permanent based on underlying causes. The disease could be a result of age-related changes to the kidneys, acute injury or toxin ingestion, congenital defects present from birth, or in rare cases, a side effect of some medications. To prevent kidney disease or slow its progression, it's vital to stay regular with wellness visits so that together, we can monitor renal levels with blood work and urinalysis and catch any changes ASAP.

Pets can’t advocate for their needs like us humans can, and many owners fail to recognize signs of osteoarthritis (OA), often chalking it up to pets “slowing down with age.” OA is common in dogs and cats ages six and up, so to help champion their health, we’re sharing the key signs of this degenerative joint disease so that you know when it’s time to seek veterinary support. If your pet is . . .

• Struggling to climb up or down stairs
• Having trouble jumping up or down
• Slow to rise from a resting position
• Lagging behind on walks or during play
. . you should discuss these concerns with us. The good news is highly effective treatments exist to help manage the chronic pain associated with OA and increase their mobility. With the right pain management, your pet can get back to being themselves again! To learn more about OA and treatment options, visit: https://www.thrivepetcare.com/be-their-champion

We get it: when your pet is itchy, you start to scratch, too! The good news is your pet doesn’t have to live with incessant itchiness. Learn to spot the signs, then book a visit so that together, we can discover the cause and explore options for long-lasting relief, like:

Cyptopoint®: an injectable therapy that provides 4 to 8 weeks of allergy relief with a single in-office dose. ¹ Plus, for a limited time, get $25 off when you buy 2 doses of Cytopoint. ²

Or Apoquel®: an oral medicine that can be given at home for fast relief of allergic itch.³

To learn more about how allergic itch is diagnosed and treated, visit: https://www.thrivepetcare.com/be-their-champion

¹ Data on file, Study No. C863R-US-12-018, 2014, Zoetis Inc. Data on file, Study No. C166RUS-17-180, 2018, Zoetis Inc. ² Valid 7/15/24-9/30/24. Terms apply see thrivepetcare.com/be-their-champion. ³ Apoquel® (oclacitinib tablet) and Apoquel® Chewable (oclacitinib chewable tablet) IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION: Do not use Apoquel or Apoquel Chewable in dogs less than 12 months of age or those with serious infections. Apoquel and Apoquel Chewable may increase the chances of developing serious infections and may cause existing parasitic skin infestations or pre-existing cancers to get worse. Consider the risks and benefits of treatment in dogs with a history of recurrence of these conditions. New neoplastic conditions (benign and malignant) were observed in clinical studies and postapproval. Apoquel and Apoquel Chewable have not been tested in dogs receiving some medications including some commonly used to treat skin conditions such as corticosteroids and cyclosporines. Do not use in breeding, pregnant, or lactating dogs. Most common side effects are vomiting and diarrhea. Apoquel and Apoquel Chewable have been used safely with many common medications including parasiticides, antibiotics and vaccines. See full Prescribing Information at ApoquelPI.com and ApoquelChewablePI.com.

Staying active is essential to both the physical and mental well-being of your dog. As a busy pet owner, ensuring your companion is getting enough exercise can sometimes fall to the wayside, but we’re here to offer some ideas on how to implement regular activity into their life – and yours! 🏃

Age, breed, size, and additional health considerations will all influence how much exercise your dog should be receiving each day. Also important to consider are weather conditions. If it’s too hot or cold out for you, it’s likely the case for them, as well, in which case outdoor time should be limited. If you are ever unsure about your pet’s exercise needs, we’re more than happy to provide honest, professional advice during your next visit.
