Pricing Update:

I have been working extremely hard this past year to be the absolute best Bodyworker I can be for you and your horses while keeping my services as affordable as possible. I’ve focused (and will continue focusing) on investing a great deal into my education and experience. I am currently finishing up 2 new externships to earn my level 2 EEBW Certification in order to better help the horses I work on. Because of this and the continuous rising cost of living, I’m forced to raise my prices as we head into the new year. I hope you all understand that I’m doing my absolute best to keep my services affordable and that will continue to be my goal as we move forward together. Thank you for understanding 💛

I think every horse person was triggered during this week’s episode of Yellowstone 😅

Let’s talk Banamine!
We know it’s a hot topic after this week’s episode of the commonly watched TV show, Yellowstone.

Banamine is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug used to aleviate inflammation and pain. It is available in oral paste, as well as an injectable liquid. When injecting banamine, it is important to inject it IV (Intravenous)! When injected IM (Intramuscular) it can do more harm than good.

Veterinarians routinely administer Banamine IV, but will leave horse owners with an oral paste to give on their own, if directed. In the event that an owner finds themselves with injectable Banamine, it is important to know the risks and complications of giving banamine outside of a vein.

Here’s what you need to know!

Banamine causes muscle damage when injected intramuscular. Spores of bacteria, otherwise known as Clostridium, rest in healthy musculature and can start to grow if the muscle gets damaged. This can happen commonly when Banamine and other intravenous drugs are incorrectly injected intramuscular. Clostridial Myositis is a serious and sometimes fatal infection.

🩸It is very important that injectable Banamine is given IV by a veterinarian or other experienced professional.

Always listen to your veterinarian’s recommendations and never hesitate to call if you have any questions or concerns with medications, or your horse’s health!
