Here are 3 feral kittens down the street from me. We have quite a colony and this month Nebraska City Cats TNR will be helping our neighborhood out by trapping so we can get them spayed and neutered. It is quite the process and will take time. Over time we want to see this colony shrink and we want what is best for these cats. I know times are tough and I hate asking for donations but if you are able to help in any way please do. Please go to the Nebraska City Cats TNR page. We are running low on dry food to give to our colony caretakers!
Being able to provide cat food to our volunteers has really been amazing to get the community more involved in helping to care about the cats as many would like to help with the feral cat problem in Nebraska City but may not be able to afford to do so.

I want to introduce all of my F4P followers to Ted. We rescued Ted just over 2 weeks ago from the middle of street. He was very sick but he's on the mend and doing amazing. I want to take this time to talk about spay and neutering and how important it is to our communities. Nebraska City Cats TNR will be helping me in August trap our feral neighborhood cats and get them fixed. It's going to be a big job! If you are able will you please donate to Nebraska City Cats TNR? They help supply the traps, food and education. This job is very overwhelming. If you have a local TNR please donate if you can. I would also like to take this time to ask if anyone is capable of fostering or adopting kittens please do. This is a reminder to please keep your pets safe over the next few weeks. I can't tell you how hard this time of year is for animals. If your animal doesn't mind the fireworks consider yourself very lucky. A lot of animals and people get very anxious.

🚨🚨This is urgent, please read.

We at Capital Humane Society are in a crisis and we need the community’s help. We do not have a single open dog kennel at either of our shelter locations – we are at 100% capacity. We will not be accepting dog surrenders until further notice unless it is an extreme emergency. A wait list is available.

This is urgent; we refuse to euthanize dogs because we are at full capacity.

We are running an adoption promotion from now through Sunday – all pets available for adoption have a 50% reduced adoption fee. This includes puppies, adult dogs, kittens, adult cats, and critters.

This issue will not be solved by an adoption promotion alone, it is a Band-Aid on a gaping wound. Our shelter reaching maximum capacity will be an on-going problem that will lessen by spaying and neutering the pets in our community. It is up to each pet owner to take responsible steps to ensure we see fewer unwanted pets by spaying and neutering those in their care. Resources we provide are the low cost spay and neuter program, affordable spay and neuter surgeries at our Stransky Veterinary Center, and our partnership with Lincoln Animal Ambassadors for their spay and neuter voucher assistance program. Please contact us at 402-441-4488 for more information regarding any of these services.

Please note, we require viable space to fulfill our contractual obligations with the City of Lincoln and Lancaster County. We must have available kennels for the dogs brought into our care through these avenues.

While we are on a temporary hold to accept dogs, please use the following rehoming platforms as needed: Rehome by Adopt a Pet, Rescue Me!, and Home to Home. Please complete a transfer ownership form once the pet has found a new home. URGENT UPDATE
Hello to our wonderful supporters.
As you know we are primarily donation based and still have HUNDREDS of cats here in Nebraska City to be TNR’d.
We have to pay the vet up front and get reimbursed from the city only partially for the cost of each spay and neuter. ‼️The reality of the situation is that if we are not able to raise $500 in the next 2 weeks will likely have to cancel our June 1st TNR clinic. ‼️
We have put hundreds of dollars (if not thousands) of our own personal funds into this program and are not in a place to continue to do our work without donations. We are just a couple of volunteers very passionate about trying to get these cats the help they need.

We are still doing our fundraiser where if you donate $50 we will name a cat whatever you want its names to be and make a personalized post with the pictures of the cat.
We still have a couple more raffles going on and have reached out to several local businesses in hopes of them donating a service or giving us a discount so we can purchase the service and raffle/auction it off to you.

Hey Freedom 4 Paws followers! My page is growing and I have gained some new followers so I wanted to take time to introduce myself and tell you a little about me. My name is Gina Simrell. I was born and raised in Nebraska City, Nebraska. I'm married, a mom to a son and daughter and we have 3 spoiled pups. In January of 2022 I took a leap of faith and followed my heart into offering pet services. I've been blessed the past two years with a growing business and amazing clients.
