A post we never thought we would make, least of all not this soon, but with shattered hearts we announce that our bestest and beloved girl has crossed the rainbow bridge after a sudden brief illness.
We have cried many tears and tried to think of how to say this to so many who loved her and asked ourselves what we were going to do.
Shimmer was the unofficial Fulton County mascot, the 4 legged ambassador of the Farm Bureau for the last almost 3 years. Every event she could be at, festival of lights, strawberry festival, parades and so many more, she was there and always with her adorable smile. She LOVED people and would drag us to every person she could get to pet her. Some people thought she was a statue for how still she stood beside little ones, no amount of ear pulling made her budge! She loved seeing and being petted by little ones, she was at her best when surrounded by little ones! Over her years doing events, we realized she could bring in a crowd! Hundreds of people and over the years, she's seen thousands.
We made the decision to continue on the trail she blazed, because of her it's so far ahead we will be catching up for a while for what all she has done to promote agriculture in our area. If you were at goat snuggling yesterday and saw a lot of family and farm bureau members there, they came to surround us with love and support in the first event without our beloved girl. An event we knew, and those who knew Shimmer would also know that she would royally pitch a fit if we didn't continue on doing what she so loved to do!
Shimmer was not an ordinary goat at all. She wasn't just a goat at all, she was somebody's best friend, she wanted to be everyone's best friend. She was and still is the GOAT of goats.
Hearing stories of how she impacted so many peoples lives, hearing so many tell her they loved her and give kisses to her. How her different outfits brightened people's days, the love from the community given to her. She was the diva we all knew and loved because of how much the people of Fulton county loved her and we are so THANKFUL for how much everyone loved our girl!
Some have asked what we will do in her memory, we are still working on that. They have asked what they can do to honor her memory and to that we say, continue to love and promote everything Shimmer did with the Fulton County PA Farm Bureau , donate in her memory to them to continue things she started especially the Christmas drive as Christmas was her favorite time. To our local rescue, A New Life Animal Rescue , in her memory. Support the young girls and boys being local dairy ambassadors with the Fulton County Dairy Promotion at events, Shimmer loved the milkshakes! Support the Fulton County 4H kids and cheer them on in the show rings, Shimmer loved being a show girl with the club our kids are in! Read her favorite books by Floofy Blue Dragon Books the only books she never tried to eat!
Be kind, spread love for agriculture and when life asks you to wear a tutu, wear the tutu for her.
Thank you to our family, closest friends and our farm bureau for the support and sympathy during this difficult time. Please feel free to share pictures, moments and memories you have with her, we love hearing just what all Shimmer did.
