It’s that time of the year again! Please remember to renew or purchase your 2025 dog license. You can purchase these at the Athens County Dog Shelter, Athens County Auditor’s Office (it is located on Court Street beside the courthouse) you can also purchase your dog license online at https://www.doglicenses.us/OH/Athens/cs.php? If you would like to purchase via phone, please call The Athens County Auditor at 740-592-3223.

All dogs over the age of 3 months old are required by state law to have a current county dog license.
9 months and under - $18.00
Spayed or neutered - $18.00 (this also includes hunting dogs)
Unaltered dogs - $28.00
Please renew or purchase by January 31st, 2025, to avoid the doubled late fee.

Our hours for the dog shelter are:

Monday- 10:00am – 5:00pm
Tuesday- 10:00am – 5:00pm
Wednesday- 10:00am – 3:00pm
Thursday- 10:00am – 5:00pm
Friday- 10:00am – 5:00pm
Saturday- 10:00am – 3:00pm
Sunday – CLOSED

The Nelsonville Dog Park Board meeting scheduled for Thursday, October 17, 2024, at 6:00PM, has been canceled. The Nelsonville Dog Park Board meets the 3rd Thursday of every month at 6:00PM at Nelsonville City Hall. The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, November 21, 2024, at 6:00PM.
