UPDATE: JUSTICE WENT TO HER NEW HOME ON MARCH 11TH AND IS ADJUSTING VERY WELL! SHE HAS ANOTHER STANDARD POODLE AND FOUR BOYS TO PLAY WITH! THANK YOU JENNIFER FOR ADOPTING JUSTICE! ❤️

Unfortunately, I was just notified that one of my pups now 7 years old on (2/26/24)will most likely need to be rehomed due to her owners illness. The owner is currently in the hospital and then will be going to rehab. And because of my own health issues I'm not able to take her myself. I have her mother, her sisters, and her niece. Right now I'm putting out feelers to see if anyone might be interested. I can give you more details if you message me. She was apricot and kind of faded out to cream. I will be vetting the new home and she must remain in New Jersey.

Since 4th of July fireworks can be so frightening to many dogs; I was wondering if any of my puppies out there had negative reactions to fireworks? None of my guys reacted negatively to the fireworks! 🎇🎇🎇🎆🎆🧨🧨

Over the weekend, the doting owner of two young lab mixes purchased Cocoa Mulch from Target to use in their garden. The dogs loved the way it smelled and it was advertised to keep cats away from their garden. Their dog (Calypso) decided the mulch smelled good enough to eat and devoured a large helping. She vomited a few times which was typical when she eats something new but wasn't acting lethargic in any way. The next day, Mom woke up and took Calypso out for her morning walk. Halfway through the walk, she had a seizure and died instantly.

Although the mulch had NO warnings printed on the label, upon further investigation on the company's web site,

This product is HIGHLY toxic to dogs and cats.

Cocoa Mulch is manufactured by Hershey's, and they claim that "It is true that studies have shown that 50% of the dogs that eat Cocoa Mulch can suffer physical harm to a variety of degrees (depending on each individual dog). However, 98% of all dogs won't eat it."

Cocoa Mulch, which is sold by Home Depot, Foreman's Garden Supply and other garden supply stores contains a lethal ingredient called 'Theobromine'. It is lethal to dogs and cats. It smells like chocolate and it really attracts dogs. They will ingest this stuff and die. Several deaths already occurred in the last 2-3 weeks.

Theobromine is in all chocolate, especially dark or baker's chocolate which is toxic to dogs. Cocoa bean shells contain potentially toxic quantities of theobromine, a xanthine compound similar in effects to caffeine and theophylline. A dog that ingested a lethal quantity of garden mulch made from cacao bean shells developed severe convulsions and died 17 hours later. Analysis of the stomach contents and the ingested cacao bean shells revealed the presence of lethal amounts of theobromine.

**PLEASE PASS THIS ON**

Veterinarians have warned pet owners that cacao shells contain the same ingredient that makes chocolate toxic to dogs.

Since I know a lot of breeders that have been having a hard time placing their puppies, I want to put out some feelers to see if there would be any interest in one of my puppies if I bred either Starfire or Belle in the spring/summer. They could have red, apricot, black or brown partis or abstracts. This breeding is not a definite, it would depend on my health and interest. You can send me a PM. This would be my last litter. The girls and I will be retiring!

To my Human Mums & Dads this is what happens to my paws when you take me out in the scorching sun ☀️ when the pavements are so hot !

Remember I sweat through my paws so in this heat I can’t get rid of my sweat as my paws are burning. Missing my walk won’t harm me, Please let me just relax indoors and take me out when the sun is down 🐾

Borrowed from another breeder...very true words!

The hardest part of breeding isn't the lack of sleep, the constant worry during pregnancy and then in those first few hours, days or weeks. It's not the time put into cleaning, socializing, evaluating temperaments or finding good homes. The hardest part is the last hug and kiss you have go give them when you tell them they are the best puppy before you send them off on their new adventure. Do they know you love them? Do they know you chose the very very best home you could for them where they would be loved and have fun? Do they forgive you for not keeping them? No matter how much you know that puppy will be loved and cared for in its new home, it breaks your heart a little every time one of them has to leave.

So, for those who ask a breeder "how can you let them go?" Or "don't you cry when they leave?" the answer is yes, I've cried every time a puppy leaves. I raise puppies because I love it. I do it because I want my breeds to continue and to be healthy, functional, animals with solid conformation and good temperaments. I do it because there ARE great homes looking for great dogs and it's not fair to anyone to keep them all here (much as I'd like to sometimes).

So, the next time you pick up your puppy from their breeder, know what you're really taking is a piece of their heart, and make sure you take the very best care of it.
