Deployed overseas, U.S. Army Specialist Mason knew he wanted to give Lily a better life the moment he saw her. Found in an old barn she was desperately searching for scraps of food in a pile of trash; just a tiny puppy - skinny, dirty, and so afraid. She had no chance of making it alone, and when Specialist Mason reached out to Paws of War for help to rescue Lily from the suffering and dangers that surrounded her, our team jumped into action to save her. If he hadn't, she wouldn't be alive today.

We are thrilled to share with you that thanks to your compassionate support for our life-saving rescue missions, Lily has made it safely to America and has been reunited with an overjoyed Specialist Mason at his home, where she also met other members of her new family. Everyone fell in love! Specialist Mason's family lost their beloved beagle after many years together, and giving Lily a loving home Stateside is helping to heal their hearts - as well as giving her the safe happy life she could never have overseas. Now back in the care of her heroic Dad, Lily will never be hungry, cold, or in harm's way again. Specialist Mason is deeply grateful and sends his thanks to everyone who played a part in getting Lily to safety. We do too, because we cannot make miracles happen without your help.

Thank you for being by our side to give back to our heroes, by saving the animals they love.

Meet beautiful Hope! She's small right now, but as a Cane Corso she'll grow into a big girl with a whole lot of love to give. Hope is 11 weeks old and she will be around 80 to 110 pounds as an adult. She's so sweet, and she's ready to find her perfect forever home... could that be with YOU?!

Due to her young age, Hope will need someone home with her most of the day, where there are older children (10+) if any, and no small dogs or cats. Her adopter(s) must also have similar large breed experience.

Applications for this precious pup are open now, and if you'd like to welcome her into your family, please visit www.pawsofwar.org/adoptadog to fill out an application form, and we'll take it from there!

Poor Ari has come back to Paws of War through no fault of his own. Sadly, a family member in his adopted home suffered severe allergies they were not aware of, and they are devastated because he is a great dog with a wonderful personality.

Ari was rescued from suffering and danger overseas and brought to safety through our War-Torn Pups and Cats program when a U.S. soldier reached out for help. Due to his military commitment he couldn't offer Ari a home himself, but knew we'd made sure he found a wonderful family where he can have all the love he deserves.

He's a 1 year old Shepherd Mix who is great with kids, loves other dogs, and sleeps peacefully through the night. He's housetrained, and walks well on a leash - he'd make a perfect walking buddy! He thrives being around people, so his ideal home will be with someone who is around much of the day and can give him regular exercise, and attention.

๐Ÿ”ดApplications for this sweet boy are open to Veterans, First Responders, and Gold Star Families, and if you'd like to welcome him into your life and heart, please visit pawsofwar.org/adoptadog to fill in an application form, and we'll take it from there!

Yes, you read that right!

10-year U.S. Marine Staff Sergeant Johnson did what any compassionate person would do on finding Singo as a frail, terrified puppy struggling to stay alive alone - surrounded by danger in the remote African desert. The tiny pup was just weeks old and he knew such a vulnerable soul couldn't survive on her own and in the moment he saved her life, he became her Dad in every way that matters. He protected her, raised her, and she was loved for the first time. He is all she knows and wants to be everywhere he is - joining in with whatever he does because she adores him and feels safe. She has also taken to copying him and picked up the habit from early on of looking down his rifle scope!

But right now, Singo's little heart is broken. With deployment ending and no way to play a part in bringing his precious girl home, Staff Sergeant Johnson was forced to be separated from Singo and he reached out to Paws of War desperate for help to save her.

Our rescue mission to save Singo is underway, but due to the remote location and lack of transport infrastructure it is an extremely complex operation and we are working around the clock to get her across deeply remote and rural areas for her to be able to fly out of the country. She's still a long way from home and we need your help. With your support we can bring Singo to her new life in America and back to her heroic dad's side. It will be a reunion that brings family back together, but more than that, it will give Singo the safe, happy future, that doesn't exist for her overseas.

Thanks to your compassionate support for Paws of War, Pancake - a sweet dog saved and protected by U.S. Army Sergeant Brian during his deployment overseas, has been joyfully reunited with her grateful hero and the rest of her new family, in America!

When his deployment ended, Sergeant Brian was heartbroken at being forced to say goodbye to Pancake who had become his best friend so far from home. Pancake's rescue mission and journey to safety was complicated and extremely challenging, but with your help she beat the odds! She won't ever suffer or be surrounded by danger again.

Pancake now joins Trooper - her new canine brother, and two great young children. The two dogs became instant friends and she fit in with the family immediately. She is so excited to be back with Sergeant Brian, discovered very quickly what comfort and dog beds are all about, and she is a perfect addition for this wonderful family. We couldn't be happier for Pancake and Sergeant Brian, and their happy reunion was made possible thanks to your belief in our life saving work.

Thank you for being by our side to give back to our heroes, by saving the animals they love.

This Black History Month, Paws of War honors the legacy of African American leaders and dedicated individuals who have championed compassion for animals and service. We are proud to recognize the valuable contributions of our African American members who have selflessly served their country and communities.

Booker T. Washington, the prominent educator and reformer, often found solace and joy in caring for his animals at the Tuskegee Institute. He not only championed animal care education but also encouraged the humane treatment of all animals, recognizing their value in companionship. Washington believed that kindness to animals reflected a broader moral character, and he used his influence to promote empathy and justice toward all living creatures. His dedication to education extended beyond the classroom, as he sought to instill values of respect and stewardship towards animals, uniting individuals in the effort to prevent cruelty and nurture a more compassionate society.

Visionaries like Dr. Frederick Douglas Patterson, DVM, a true trailblazer in veterinary medicine, founded the Tuskegee School of Veterinary Medicine in 1944, creating opportunities for generations of Black veterinarians and paving the way for diversity in the field of veterinary medicine. His legacy, vision and leadership continue to inspire current and future veterinarians.

Continuing this tradition, Paws of War proudly supports veterans of color who have served our nation with distinctionโ€”those like Navy Veteran Angelique Williams, USMC Veteran Michael Kilano and Navy Veteran and Police Detective John Barnett.

๐Ÿ”ด Angelique Williams exemplifies dedication and service. Drawing from her military experience and deep understanding of sacrifice, she has committed herself to animal transport, disaster response efforts, and veteran support. As a logistics specialist with Paws of War, she works tirelessly to transport rescue animals, ensuring they reach our active-duty service members, veterans and first responders. Additionally, she volunteers in disaster-stricken areas, providing critical support and relief to those affected. Through her unwavering commitment, Angelique continues to make a profound impact on individuals, communities, and fellow veterans in need.

๐Ÿ”ด U.S. Navy Veteran and retired Police Detective John Barnett is one such hero with a profound understanding of service and sacrifice. After an on-the-job attack left him blind in one eye and struggling with PTSD, John turned his pain into purpose. His work raising awareness for PTSD is truly inspiring. By sharing his own journey and supporting fellow veterans, John helps those struggling find healing through the companionship of service animals.

๐Ÿ”ด Paws of War Veteran Advocate and United States Marine Veteran Michael Kilano is another incredible force for good. After receiving support from Paws of War while recovering at Northport VA Hospital, Michael has dedicated himself to helping fellow veterans find the same comfort and strength through service and companion dogs. His advocacy and work raising awareness for PTSD and veteran su***de prevention continues to make a difference in the lives of so many veterans and first responders.

This month, Paws of War celebrates these individuals and reaffirms our commitment to supporting all veterans through the healing power of companion and service animals. Together, we honor the past and work towards a compassionate future.

Born into a harsh environment surrounded by danger, Iraq almost cost little Tabby her life. She found protection and kindness for the first time in a U.S. Soldier deployed overseas who fell in love with her sweet personality, and reached out for help to save the vulnerable cat - unable to bear the thought of leaving her behind to suffer. Thanks to your support for Paws of War's life-saving programs, our team was able to take on the complex mission to rescue Tabby, ensure she was healthy to fly, and meet the extensive CDC requirements to bring her to her new life in America.

We are thrilled to share with you that Tabby has been safely delivered to her hero's sister, Petra, who is giving her all the love and care she needs until her courageous Mom returns home. Tabby seemed to immediately know she was in good hands - settling in within minutes and she is already taking over the house! Her hero is overjoyed to know her precious friend is safe and can't wait to see her. She sends her deepest thanks and gratitude to everyone who helped make Tabby's rescue mission possible. Now she has a wonderful future ahead that just didn't exist for her if she had stayed overseas. Together we changed how her story ended!

Thank you for believing in our work to give back to our heroes, and save lives.

Last Sunday, Paws of War's Mobile Veterinary Clinic had another successful day helping heroes ensure their pets are kept safe and well - providing vaccines, welfare checks, and treatments for those in need. Our fully equipped mobile clinic offers veterinary care at no cost to the veterans and first responders who attend and runs entirely on donations to provide this critical service for their treasured animal companions.

We are so thankful to everyone who makes it possible to keep moving forward to help the animals who provide unconditional love and support to our heroes. Paws of War would like to give our deepest gratitude to the Irving and Phyllis Millstein Foundation for providing us with the Millstein Veterinary Project Grantยฎ that helps animals in and outside of the clinic, and completely covered all costs of last week's clinic. We'd also like to say a tremendous thank you to veterinarian Dr. Mary Leister and vet tech Kristen DiMaria for dedicating their time and knowledge to help keep our heroes' pets healthy.

Suave Schnauzer, Ralphie, is 2 and a half years old. He's the absolutely perfect size for snuggling up on the sofa in front of the TV (and that suits him fine because he loves to chill with his people!). He has a wonderful nature; he's a little shy when he first meets people, but after he gets to know you he greets you with the best wiggly butt. His ideal home is calm and peaceful with someone around to give him the time and love he deserves. We're excited to introduce you to Zara. She may look little now, but as a Cane Corso she'll grow into a big girl with a whole lot of love to give! Zara is just 9 weeks old and she will be around 110 to 140 pounds as an adult. She's so sweet, and the best part is that she's ready to find her wonderful forever home, and that might just be with YOU!

Due to her young age, Zara will need someone home with her most of the day, where there are older children (10+) if any, and no small dogs or cats. Her adopter(s) must also have similar large breed experience.

Applications for Zara are open now, and if you'd like to welcome this precious pup to your family, please visit www.pawsofwar.org/adoptadog to fill out an application form, and we'll take it from there!

Soldiers Cat Saved!!
Back in January we shared the story of Tabby, a tiny kitten saved and raised by brave soldier in the U.S. Army deployed in Iraq. After months of planning, veterinary care and complex transport logistics Tabby has made it safely to America. Tabby will be fostered by the soldierโ€™s mom until she returns. Tabbyโ€™s soldier was supposed to be home to greet her but her mission was extended. A big thanks to everyone who supported Tabbyโ€™s rescue and who supports the mission at Paws of War for our heroic soldiers.

Meet Cody and Mable! Through no fault of their own, both of these beautiful dogs found themselves in Brookhaven Animal Shelter that is operating at high capacity and working hard to help so many animals in need. We are grateful that the Town of Brookhaven Shelter entrusted Paws of War to pull these two dogs, because their personalities make them ideal candidates for our Shelter to Service Program that places shelter dogs with heroes and their families.

Now in our care, Cody and Mable have a bright future ahead; they will be placed in perfectly matched homes where they will bring joy and unconditional love to Veterans, First Responders, or Gold Star Families.

๐Ÿ”ด Cody is a gentle giant. A very large calm 4 year-old German Shepherd, he is great with kids and other dogs, and has a sweet personality. He will make a wonderful addition to any home!

๐Ÿ”ด Adorable Mable steals the heart of everyone who meets her. She is a mixed-breed who gets on well with other dogs and is good with children. Mable is already is a volunteer favorite at Paws of War. We just know you'll fall in love with this girl, too!

Applications for both Cody and Mable are open NOW and we anticipate a lot of requests for both, so don't wait! Please visit www.pawsofwar.org/adoptadog to fill out an application form, and we'll take it from there!
