Update: Still waiting!

Willow and Winter are 4 year old healthy Great Pyrenees sibs who are very bonded .
Their owner dropped them off at a friends never to return . In time the friends dropped them off to be euthanized at a local vet office . The vets office seeing 2 sweet friendly healthy girls called us .
These girls remind me of children . At times listening well at other times not so much . Loving on each other 95% of the time with an occasional 3 second spat then back to loving on each other !
But they are very sweet loving girls who find them selves with no family no fault of their own .
They walk well on lead and are house trained .
A fenced yard is required .

This sad eyed fella is Charlie . He has been with us for awhile . He warms up slowly but once he loves you he is a lapdog and will be 100 % attentive to you !

Charlie is a healthy 2 year old boy who walks fairly well on a leash . Charlie prefers to be a home dog and isn’t a huge fan of kennels and dog parks .

He is house trained .

Charlie may well prefer being an only dog but he might like a cat !
Charlie would most likely do best in a quieter home as that is what he is used to .

This boy was surrendered because his owner while loving both her male Pyrs found they did not get along so she tearfully surrendered the dog she felt had the best chance of placement .

Charlie is a tall boy weighing about 120.

If you have a fenced yard and a big heart and are willing to be patient Charlie will fill your heart and home with love !!

Today we celebrate the finalization of Poppy’s adoption !!
Poppy was placed while a puppy with Brad and Jillian and their 3 beautiful children.
While this wonderful family from Green Bay have raised her as their own the final paperwork can now be completed as Poppy reached the recommended age for spay .

These two beautiful Pyrs are Ava and Jax . They are a 7 year old bonded pair . Bonded meaning they WILL BE PLACED TOGETHER .
They are house dogs . They are not trained to be LGDs and will not be placed as LGDs
What they are is loving companions .
Jax is healthy . Ava has issues with her back leg . We have her in an anti inflammatory meds as well as pain pills when needed . She is also dieting .
Because of the meds she needs we are willing to place both dogs as fosters or permanent fosters so we can resume paying for her meds or what ever she needs as long as she needs and are willing to put this promise in writing . Our hope is that while we may pay vet costs they can spend their remaining days with you !!
The dogs need a fenced yard but it needn’t be huge and a three foot will do .
It would be best if they could be the only dogs in the house .

Winter and Willow are 4 year old siblings . Being together since birth and then some they are extremely bonded .
The girls need to know at all times where the other is . They have an occasional tiff which lasts for about 1 minute then all is well .
The girls are healthy . They are both spayed , microchipped and up to date on their immunizations.
They walk fairly well together .
In the past they were house trained but we would advise keeping their area small where they can be supervised until they have earned your trust .
The two girls are Ok with cats but may do better as the only dogs .
They do not have experience as LGDs and will not be placed as such .
A secure fence is required.

Today we announce the adoption of a special girl by a special family !
This poor girl suffered with eye issues all her life .
Imagine each and every minute of each day feeling something rubbing on your eye to the point it caused abrasions. . And now to feel no pain for the first time !!
Khione has been officially adopted by her foster family who saw her through a painful surgery and lengthy recovery !
Congratulations to Sarah , her wonderful sons and husband for all their love and diligence in giving Khione a new life .
This amazing family reside in Crest Hill Illinois .
Thank you to Regan Poynter from MO Rescue and to Cindy Barch of IL Great Pyr Rescue for all their assistance in getting this girl to us and helping to get her the surgery she required .
Thank you x a million times to Sarah and the boys !!

GPRW welcomed a new volunteer this week !
Thank you to Justin for giving up his Thursday to come spend time with the dogs in care .
Soobie so enjoyed her walk and was so tired she actually slept all afternoon ! ! And Charlie made a new friend and made progress being introduced to a new human ! Justin was able to feed him treats ! And our Leon … well Leon loves new friends !!
If anyone else wants to come spend some time with the wards let us know .
We also need help to paint and maybe stencil some of the outdoor buildings . And our old Bumble dog house is in dire need of a new roof .

Brand new to rescue is Leon !!!
Leon is a handsome 2 year old male who was found as a stray .
After several exhausting weeks to find his owner we will now turn our efforts to find Leon a loving new home !
What we know …. Leon has been fully vetted and he is very healthy .
He is a friendly boy . So far he appears pretty calm.
He walks well on a leash . He loves car rides and jumps right in .
He has kept his indoor/outdoor kennel dry which suggests he has had some house training .
He has not challenged our fencing .
Leon has NOT shown resource guarding toward humans .
What we will need to assess is how he is with cats as well as other dogs .
More to come !!
Please don’t forget Soobie, Kalua, Charlie , Lexi and Ava/Jax our senior pair .

During the summer holidays let’s not forget that our canine friends may not appreciate extra guests or the opposite , finding themselves home alone for long periods of time . And then the biggest , scariest summer holiday activity of all …fireworks !
Plan ahead . Provide a quiet get away area with fans and soft music . If alone a safe chewie for distraction . Delegate family members to take turns pet sitting . Calming supplements may help as well .
If you have a trick that works or a supplement you would recommend feel free to post it here !
Not all pups can look as calm and comfortable as Ms. Sophia who’s momma Luann sent us this picture but don’t forget as you make your plans make one for them too .

Shout out to …. Ceaser !!!!!
After almost a year at the rescue an amazing family stepped up to adopt him ! Imagine how he must feel after being over looked all this time to now be in a beautiful house with his own loving family !!
Thank you with all our hearts to Eric and Meghan and their daughters Isabelle and Cecellia from DePere WI .

We at GPRW urgently need a foster home /adoptive home for a bonded pair , a male and female 7 year old Great Pyrenees
The owner of these two Pyrs sadly surrendered them today and let it be known that anything less than positive posts will be allowed . Walk in their shoes people !
The pair are in relatively good shape and up to date on immunizations.
A home without other dogs , a fenced yard even a small one and not too much activity would suit them best .
They are house and crate trained and ride well in the car .

Bonded 4 year old sisters Willow and Winter had their spa day today followed by a pup cup at Scooters !!
Thanks to Xena and Austin from Petco Oshkosh for spending all afternoon with this pair ! Amazing job with the groom but even more amazing is how you helped a slightly nervous Willow feel calm .
It was a great day for two beautiful healthy girls that were thru no fault of their own abandoned and left to be euthanized.
A home with a securely fenced yard and an understanding of the importance of their bond is needed .

Coming into rescue are 7 year old Jax and Ava .
They are a highly bonded pair who have spent every day together since birth .
They are being surrendered as their owners are moving .
This is going to be highly traumatic move for all involved .
Don’t need a big home ! Just a huge heart .

This girl may look familiar to you . Her name is Soobie Roo . She has been featured a few time throughout the year . And yet she is still here . Still waiting for a home . Still so deserving of a home .
Soobie is 4 . She is healthy . She is friendly . She is playful . She walks well on a leash and likes car rides and behaves well at the groomer .She is small but is still 62 % Pyrenees.
Soobie might do best as an only dog . But she enjoys cats and their antics .
Even after a year Soobie is in no danger of euthanasia. She is not wallowing away stuck in a kennel .
She enjoys her daily walks . Her playtime . Her occasional ride for a pup cup . Her food ! She loves to eat !
But this isn’t a home . And she is so deserving of a home .

We at GPRW have been thru a roller coaster of emotions since Paws arrival to our rescue in Oct of 2023 .
But today we are ever so thrilled to announce to you that Paws has been officially adopted !
Paws is living in Sheboygan with his loving Momma MacKensie and his canine cuddle Ms. Daisy .

Let’s celebrate the newest addition to this wonderful family !!
Ms Chloe has been official adopted by Eric and Rachel of Elkhorn WI .
Ms Chloe now has a brother named Theo who adores her and 3 cat sibs as well .!!
Ms Chloe has been a big hit at Doggy day care .
She also enjoys protecting the property from deer , turkey and blowing leaves !!

Today we welcome a beautiful bonded pair into our program . They have been together since birth 4 years ago and know no other way of life .
Their names are Willow and Winter and they are purebred Great Pyrenees. They appear very healthy .
These girls after being abandoned found themselves facing euthanasia. Together with all of you we will prove what a terrible injustice this would have been .

The girls can walk well on leash and ride well in a car .
They are house trained .
They do well with children and cats .
They do well with other dogs in passing but would do best being the only two resident dogs .
A fence is required .
They are a pair and will not be separated.

Gaston has found a very very wonderful family .
While I would love to write about how easy his transition to a new home was the fact is … it has not been an easy transition what so ever .
Gaston has exhibited high value resource guarding.
For this reason and that his new family was willing and able to call in a trainer and work Gaston now Ollie thru this is what makes this placement even more remarkable.
While I am usually awed and amazed by our adoptive families Claudia and Cody from Marshfield are truly exceptional and have been a life saver for Ollie( Gaston) .

Ceaser is a wonderful ball of energy !
He is 1.5 years old . He is a mix of Great Pyrenees/australian Shepherd. He is a very healthy boy !
Ceaser loves people . He gets along well with other dogs and cats .
Ceaser lived indoors at his past home with other dogs . He is house trained .
He rides in the car like a charm !!
He has been to a groomer regularly and also attended doggy daycare .
Ceaser was surrendered because his owner had to move into a small apartment and could not take him with him.

Prayers for Paw please !
We had planned to announce that our Paws , our 3 legged fella had found a most remarkable foster to adopt home and he has . But today instead of celebrating the finding of this remarkable family and the arrival of his new wheel chair we are filled with worry .
Paws earlier in the week began throwing up . At first we thought perhaps it was just anxiety from the move . But after several days with no improvement his doting mama took him to the vet . After X-rays and bloodwork the Dr suspected a blockage and the decision was made to do an exploratory surgery .
Surprisingly it was not a blockage but iinflamation .
So now the hope is that Paws will heal from the exploratory surgery and with medication the inflammation in his intestines will subside.
Not knowing what caused this concerns us .
So prayers for Paws please and his wonderful foster Family Mackenzie , Zach and Daisy .

This is Charlie . He is a 2 year old Great Pyrenees.
Charlie is a big boy at 120lbs. . He is a healthy fella .
Charlie was tearfully surrendered by his owner as Charlie and her other male dog did not get along .
Charlie is a sensitive boy and this has been difficult for him . Also Charlie is timid upon meeting new people but boy once he warms up he is such a cuddler !
