🐶🐱 Protect Your Pets from Coyotes – Be Aware, Stay Safe! 🐾

Coyote sightings are becoming more common in urban and suburban areas - and recently, there have been several sightings reported in our community. While coyotes usually avoid people, they can see pets—especially small dogs and cats—as prey or threats. Protecting your pets starts with awareness and a few smart precautions.

Tips to Keep Pets Safe:

1. Always walk dogs on a short, sturdy leash (6 feet or less), especially at dawn, dusk, or nighttime when coyotes are most active.

2. Never leave pets unattended in backyards, especially after dark. Even fenced yards aren’t always safe—coyotes can jump fences up to 6 feet high.

3. Keep cats indoors.

4. Feeding pets outdoors can attract coyotes. Bring in food and water bowls as soon as your pet is done eating.
