What do you do if your pet has diarrhea?!

Remember, diarrhea can happen for so many reasons: good stress, bad stress, extra snacks, new snacks, forbidden snacks, and even toxic snacks. Intestinal parasites and bacteria. Sometimes, we never get to the bottom of the messy situation, but we can help treat it!

Starting with probiotics is always a great option.
Probiotics are readily available, and you can get them over the counter. Dog and cat probiotics come in many ways, treats, powders, paste, and even capsules. This gives flexibility to those picky friends!

Bland diet for a few days can also be super helpful for our dog friends. Boiled chicken, lean ground beef, or turkey with plain rice can help settle the belly. ( anyone remember those chicken noodle soup and crackers days with your mom watching price is right?! )

Feeding small, more frequent meals is also very helpful because no one wants to eat huge meals when you've got an upset belly!

The key to helping is to not change too many things! Sometimes, adding too many things like pumpkin and yogurt and eggs, goats milk etc, can actually make things worse.

WHEN TO WORRY:

If there are other symptoms, too, like vomiting, lethargy, and bloated belly.

If there is blood in the stool

If the stool is liquidy, with no form or content

WHAT TO DO:

Collect a sample in a p**p bag

Call our office to arrange for testing

Pip is a fan favorite around here and she needs a home! She is an indoor only kitty, litterbox trained, LOVES to snuggle and play. We think this sweet girl is about 5 months old and will come tested and vaccinated. We'd love for this girl to find her furever home for the holidays so she can celebrate with her new family ❤️

If anyone wants to live on the wild side and take home a new pocket tiger we've got you 😉 These little friends are just now 4 weeks old, and still need a little time and TLC but if anyone is interested, give us a shout!
