❄️ BABY ITS COLD OUTSIDE ❄️
With temperatures plummeting we wanted to make sure that we shared some cold weather tips and tricks for your pups! 🐾
1. Keep them warm and indoors when possible - limit time outdoors when the temperature hits below 35 degrees F for dogs or below 45 degrees F for cats 🌡️
2. Dress for the weather - insulated winter coats and water-resistant booties/shoes during outdoor potty breaks and walks can help protect them from frostbite and hypothermia 🥶
3. Lather up - moisturize noses and paws with balms or waxes to prevent cracks where infection can get in 🧴
4. Wipe off paws frequently - especially when salt is on the sidewalks, if your pet doesn’t wear or tolerate booties, make sure you wipe off their paws with a warm cloth and towel as soon as you get home to prevent drying or even chemical burns 🧦
5. Drink up - a not so common one is to make sure your pet stays hydrated! It’s more dry out during the winter season so your pet will need lots of water to stay properly hydrated.
Winter and the snow can be great fun for us and our pets! We hope these tips keep everyone safe and happy during this time ☃️
🐾 HAPPY TAILS 🐾
We LOVE repeat adopters!! Remy (the goldendoodle) is a PRO alum who recently got a new sister in Piper! 🖤
These two immediately started playing all over the backyard upon meeting each other and we couldn’t imagine a better match!
Being about the same age, their energy went really well together and Piper needed a sibling to give her some confidence around the home 🏡

⚠️ PUPPY MILL RESCUE PREVIEW ⚠️
We recently brought in 5 additional puppy mill rescues and while we love rescuing them and they can make great dogs, we often get people who apply without reading the full description/needs of the dog. We never want it to be hard to adopt but from our experience, we’ve learned the following about puppy mill survivors.
Q: Why do you require fenced yards for them?
A: Puppy mill dogs are notorious for being extreme flight risks. They do not have a general trust of humans, like dogs who have been raised by loving humans. They also are spooked easily and will take off at the slightest sound. Even the most prepared people have had these dogs take off from them. We have had this happen to two dogs in the rescue and they both did not survive after being hit by cars. We do NOT take that lightly and do not wish that kind of agony on anyone.
Q: Why do you require another confident dog in the home?
A: As stated above, most mill dogs have a general distrust of humans. They bond quickly to other dogs and find solace in modeling their behavior when in new environments. Through our many years of experience, we find that these dogs excel when provided a canine role model in the home. If you do not have another dog, we have plenty of other options for you to consider.
Q: Why do you not want them to live with small children?
A: Little humans tend to frighten mill dogs with their loud, high-pitched squeals and their chaotic energy in the home. Additionally, small kids tend to leave doors/gates open and not be able to block dogs from escaping. They also cannot safely handle a mill dog on a leash if the dog gets spooked and bolts. This requirement does not mean that children are unsafe around these dogs; in fact, it’s usually the opposite. We want these dogs to be able to relax, decompress, and find peace after surviving the trauma of the puppy mill.
Please understand that we are all in this for the best interests of the dog and would
Meet Lulu!
🍦 HELP US GET LULU ADOPTED THIS SUMMER🍦
Lulu is our longest standing foster and to no fault of her own!! She is the sweetest girl who really just wants to snuggle and play with her people 🐾
Lulu is 1.5 year old Bulldog and Springer Spaniel mix who has finished our prison training program and ready to find her home! This unique combo is what makes her the cutest panda bear on the block 🫶🏼
Along with being adorable, Lulu truly has the best personality! She loves her people and does great with other dogs. Lulu is affectionate and even good meeting strangers 🐾
We have learned that she does not like cats so her future home will need to be cat-free! 🐱❌
Another important thing about Lulu, is she does have significant allergies. The poor girl came to us with a really bad yeast infection and irritated skin, but with allergy shots and a strict diet we’ve managed to get her all cleared up 🤍 She now only needs to go to the vet every 2-2.5 months for her shots.
Lulu’s future family will need to understand the financial commitment required, for her allergies, to keep her healthy but we think it’s 100% worth every penny for this amazing girl! 🏡
If you love Lulu as much as we do, please apply at www.prodogsohio.org/adoptables
💚 THANK YOU ALL! 💚
For making our SPENGA event such a great success! We were able to raise over $400 just from this one event 💪🏼
This will go a long way in helping us pay for vetting, supplies, and food for all of our pups 🐾
That’s not all, on May 11th we’re doing ANOTHER doggie yoga class at the SPENGA location in Gahanna 🧘🏼♀️ Just like this one we’ll have some adorable adoptable pups and another great class!
Thanks again to the team SPENGA and we can’t wait for the next one!
💛 HAPPY TAILS 💛
We couldn’t ask for better outcomes than this! From puppy mill mama to playful pup, Buttercup did a true 180 and is now living her best life 🥹
This poor girl faced several health issues (skin irritation, hair loss, weight, etc) but given some TLC and a bit of training she was given a clean bill of health 📝
