BEGINNER CLASSES:

•Manners- Basic Obedience & Pet Manners on Mondays at 5pm, starting Sept 9th. Covering basic onleash obedience skills such as: sit, down, stay, come, walking nicely, leaving temptations, behaving appropriately around distractions and being polite for greetings. $100/6 weeks.

•Agility- Intro to Obstacles on Mondays at 6pm, starting Sept 9th and Tuesdays at 5pm, starting Sept 10th. Learn how to safely train and introduce your dog to agility obstacles such as a variety of hurdles, see saws, pipe tunnels, weave poles and contact obstacles. Perfect for giving dogs a mental and physical energy outlet, building confidence and possibly even starting your journey toward dog agility competitions to try to earn fancy ribbons, titles and championships! 😀 $100/6 weeks

(hey students!) Consider coming out to the local River Dogs UKI trial at Triune this weekend! Pete and I love running UKI- fast flowy courses, fun level appropriate challenges, option to train at a trial (can take a helper in the ring, place and/or throw toys, etc), girls in season can play, and of course... day of show entries! See the map, then decide if you want to run the course 😀

Little EmEm will be trialing *for realz* this weekend and we for sure may choose to train a few of the runs if we need help remembering our startlines and contacts 😅

•Pet Manners on Mondays at 5pm, starting June 3rd. Covering basic obedience skills, walking nicely on leash, sitting politely for petting and leaving food/distractions. $100/6 weeks

•Pet Manners on Mondays at 6pm, starting June 3rd. **Due to an overflow of interest in our earlier Manners class we are adding this secondary class on the same night**

•Agility- Intro to Obstacles on Tuesdays at 5pm, starting June 4th. Introduce your dog to an assortment of obstacles seen in this dog sport! Race through curved tunnels, weave through poles, jump over hurdles, practice control on the table, tip see-saws, balance on the dogwalk and climb the aframe! Learn the rules of navigating these obstacles and how to safely train them. The sport of agility is an incredibly fun way to mentally and physically provide an energy outlet for your dog and in the advanced training even finetune communication off leash on these ever changing courses :) $100/6 weeks

•Senior Dog Activities on Wednesdays at 5pm (ongoing drop-in schedule). Rotating between stations focusing on basic tricks and skills to keep our aging dogs active, work their brains, earn cookies, let them socialize onleash a bit (if desired) and get some of that special one on one time that they crave... $10/drop-in, RSVP required

•Agility- Masters/Premier Handling on Thursdays at 10am, starting June 6th. Advanced class, must have instructor approval. $100/6 weeks

•Agility- coursework (open to a variety of levels, Novice-Premier) on Thursdays at 6pm, starting June 6th. Intermediate class, must have instructor approval. $100/6 weeks

This was the end of the second day with instructions from Esa Muotka . All still standing even after some blind crosses that were a little worrisome but found that we had plenty of time to get them done even myself. I am very thankful that Esa was able to join us for this seminar.

Lesson availability (indoors) and class openings (outdoors)!

First, at this time Alice has one 30 minute lesson spot available, indoors at the Triune facility in Wood River, IL this Tuesday January 16th from 1:00-1:30pm, $65. Perfect for keeping skills and training sharp when weather pushes off class. Let me know if you're interested :)

Second, we have class openings and drop-ins available! $100/6 weeks or $25/drop in. We offer classes year round and simply work around the weather as needed. If weather causes a canceled class we just roll it onto the end of the 6 weeks until 6 classes have been held for the session.

Hey all! Currently looks like weather is supposed to be nice on Sunday and theres certainly plenty of interest for the Christmas party this Sunday the 17th from noon-3pm(ish) 😀 If you have not already, please let us know if you are interested in coming!

We are thinking of doing a pasta dish. If you would like to bring a side dish or some dessert for the potluck that would be lovely. We will have limited heating/reheating ability so please keep that in mind. Please bring your own beverages and let us know if there are any dietary restrictions. At the moment it looks like we'll have somewhere around 15-20 people.

Games: We plan to have a couple different courses set to play around on. We may play games like A.G.I.L.I.T.Y. (think H.O.R.S.E.), White Elephant Gift Exchange (doggy-themed, $10 value/spending cap), Simon Says (distance handling), Who's With Me? (snooker-ish), Tennis Ball Madness (direct your dog to bring back the "winning" toy), Agility Challenges (no arms, no verbals, etc), Limbo...

If you know of or have any favorite games feel free to suggest them!

If theres enough interest and weather is cooperative, the Agility Field plans to hold a Christmas party on Sunday December 17th from noon-3pm or so, so save the date!

There will be a range of courses and agility games available as well as a bathroom on site 😁😉 If people want to bring a little something we could even have a potluck. Pete might even make an apple pie. Let us know if you plan to join us (weather willing!)

More class updates! We have *1* spot (**now FILLED!**) that has opened up in our Tuesday 6pm Novice/Open class which starts this week (October 10th). Our Tuesday classes rarely have an opening so if youve been hoping to join, now is the chance! :)

And since our Masters/Premier classes tend to stay filled up, we are looking to see if there is enough interest to also offer another Masters/Premier class at one or any of the following days/times starting around the beginning of November:

On November 2nd, weather willing, we will be starting a new session of Skills & Drills, Thursdays at 5pm (great for dogs needing better understanding of independent foundations or for dogs just moving into coursework)!

We will also be starting a new session of Masters/Premier Coursework (Thursdays at 10am) and Novice/Open Coursework (Thursdays at 6pm)

We have 2 new Intro to Obstacles agility classes starting next week!

Wednesdays at 5pm and Thursdays at 7pm.

$100/6 week session*, max of 4-5 teams, outdoors on grass in a fully fenced field, under lights when needed. Message if interested in enrolling 😀

*Since classes take place outdoors we occasionally must work around the weather. If weather causes a cancelation of a class night then that night simply rolls onto the end of the 6 weeks until 6 class nights have been offered.

We have a new session of International Coursework starting next week (9/13, weather willing)! Wesnesday nights starting at 7pm. Incredible preparation for ISC and big events (US Open, EOTT, WTT, etc).

$100 for the 6 week session. Limit of 6-7 teams. Late enough to beat most of the heat and run under lights as needed.

If you're new to trials, missing training in this heat or just looking for experience in new environments/on unfamiliar equipment these lessons are a great opportunity to practice somewhere other than the "home turf" 😀

Depending on interest, we're looking to offer 1 or 2 Foundation Agility classes in our upcoming teaching schedule!

#1) "Performance Puppy"
This class will focus on things like body awareness, impulse control, focus behaviors around distractions, very basic obedience, problem solving skills, agility flatwork, recalls, building/balancing drives, etc. Depending on how many sessions the same group of young dogs/students want to continue, this may later evolve into some important foundation obstacle skills as well (wing wraps, building commitment, targetting/sends, 2o2o or running contact foundations, tunnel games, etc) but would not include introducing to full height obstacles or all the equipment like in our Intro class.

#2) "Intro to Obstacles"
This class introduces dogs to the range of equipment found on a standard agility course. We aim to help teams learn to negotiate all the obstacles safely, accurately, and confidently. Usually, more than one session is required to further the progress learning to complete the weaves and teeter, though other obstacles can usually be reasonably well performed by the completion of the first session. End behaviors on contacts will be covered and depending on the progress of the group possibly some basic handling manuevers/sequencing as we get further into the session.

Pete will be the primary instructor of these classes as Alice will be enrolled in the class(es) alongside students with her own puppy 😀 Classes will be Wednesdays and/or Thursdays from 5-6pm. $100/6 week session.

Rainy day training before the winter weather moves in

The discount lesson day was so very enjoyable and thank you to everyone that came out! **REMINDER** tomorrow September 25th is our fun day, we will have the courses available at 1PM and will continue until everyone has had their fill. I have 2 setups (Agility and Jumping )with 3 courses on each. Try out a course at your current level or maybe something with a little more challenge just for fun. See everyone tomorrow!
