❄️ IT’S GETTING COLD 🥶

IF YOU’RE FEEDING THEM, THEY’RE YOUR RESPONSIBILITY🐈‍⬛

They didn’t choose to be out there. Freezing. Humans have created this problem and we need to work together to help them. Any temperature under 45-degrees F is too cold and they can get frostbite and hypothermia just like us! So, here are a few options to keep them safe if you can’t foster or bring them inside. You can build a shelter easy peasy with a tote, styrofoam cooler and straw! Or there are also insulated and heated options available online now too! 🩵

If you’re not personally caring for any community cats, but you want to help, you can always make some of these shelters and offer them to others who do on your local pages or donate them and we will find people who need them! ☺️

Some other important notes for outdoor cats & the winter:
➖ NO BLANKETS: Straw (NOT hay) only to keep them warm! Blankets hold moisture and will freeze to the cat’s skin and cause more harm than good!
➖ Cats need more calories during the cold winter. Switch your ferals to a kitten food if possible during the colder months!
➖ Canned food freezes, so only offer this if the cat is currently there to eat, don’t leave canned food out as the only option otherwise.
➖ Keep access to water available. This is often overlooked but feral cats die of dehydration during the winter too since there’s often no unfrozen water options. A heated water bowl is a great option for helping with this if possible. Or insulate a regular bowl, refresh water often, and there are some other diy solutions for this too online.

⚠️ That being said, it’s too cold to truly & safely TNR right now too. SOOO as their caretaker, it’s also time to start making a plan NOW FOR NEXT YEAR if you have unaltered cats that you are feeding! The average female cats will start having kittens again as soon as February or march, and it’s your job to avoid this if you’re feeding them. How are you going to get them fixed AS SOON AS the weather starts warming back up in the spring? Help us work on this horrific overpopulation crisis while still caring for the souls thrown away.

Another THANKFUL FOR THANKSGIVING

3️⃣ PAC DONORS

As a 501c3 nonprofit, our rescue can’t operate without DONATIONS! We do not receive grants or funding of ANY kind! That means 100% of our vet bills and other expenses have to be covered by donations! From the venison donations that we recently requested (and received 3 freezers worth so far😍) to Cuddly donations, monetary donations, item donations and attending our fundraising events EVERYTHING HELPS!!

Donations arent just how we pay the bills, but also how we feed the rescue animals and provide day-to-day care items too! 🩵 Even those who are unable to donate and just share our Facebook posts to help more people see them play a huge part in what we do!!!

So THANK YOU to everybody to donates and helps us continue to help animals in need 🩷 (all donations are tax-deductible too)

Thankful for Thanksgiving - continued…

2️⃣ MOONGATE METAPHYSICAL

We want to say thank you again to Jon and Jen of MoonGate Metaphysical who donate the space in the store to help amazing & deserving cats find FURever homes! This is truly invaluable. They also help clean the space when we have emergencies, they help socialize the cats, allow us to use the space for events, and spend the time to introduce each cat to EVERY person that comes in to visit with the cats during store hours 🥺. We seriously can’t say how thankful we are for these kind humans and this space 🩵

Since May of last year, we have been able to find homes for over 115 cats and over 20 dogs too because of this opportunity. Many of the cats that have found homes after living at the store were with the rescue for 1-3 years before this. Adult cats get scared in new situations, so there was not a good way for them to meet potential families in a comfortable and safe environment. Now we have that!! 😍 These cats finding homes have allowed us to help so many more in need 🩵 and we’ve made some amazing friends with them in the process which we’re also thankful for!

🦃 HAPPY THANKSGIVING 🍁

Our rescue has a lot to be thankful for this year and we want to say thank you for many things today! Here’s the first one!

We can’t rescue these animals without foster families for them to go to. These families help the animals decompress, learn to trust and reach their potential before finding their furever homes! Thank you to all our foster families for choosing to save lives on top of your already busy lives! 🩷 Thank you for choosing to volunteer to do good in a world filled with negativity. Thank you for helping us continue our mission. 🐾

😣 STORY TIME 😣

This is Chino.

Chino is a good example of why we have a return option & requirement in our contracts 🥺

He was just a kitten when he was adopted from us in 2022. His adopters passed the background check, had a good job, a kid and a dog for him to play with and love, a good home. But things change. Chino’s adopter began dealing with extreme mental health issues at some point. Day to day was a struggle, the house got out of control, bills became an impossible pressure, child care became a lot and clearly Chino became an afterthought - just another responsibility that became overwhelming.

While we are very upset that any animal, much less one of our rescue animals ended up in this condition😣, we know mental health issues can be truly debilitating and we are trying not to blame his adopters. 🧡 We’re glad they ultimately came to the best conclusion to return him to our care. We’re also glad that the humans are receiving help too. Please try to keep comments positive.

Chino was matted over his entire back, butt area and tail. He had a collar on that obviously was not appropriately adjusted as he grew and was causing hair loss, skin irritation and would have embedded Into his neck if left much longer. Nails overgrown, and not healthy overall (likely poor food quality and a lack of consistent access to water). 😥 Despite all this, Chino is an absolute sweetheart and is handling everything like a champ.

Huge THANK YOU to Alysha and Pet Supplies Plus - Sterling Heights, MI for donating/doing his groom free of charge. 🥰 We appreciate this so much and he is feeling MUCH better after. They said he was a gentleman and so sweet and well-behaved through the whole thing! (And Alysha even bought him a cute sweater)

Chino has a vet appointment coming up to update his medical care that he’s due for and to make sure there isn’t anything else going on with him, then he will be looking for a new FURever home 🏡 a new family to show him love and spend Christmas with. 🎄He loves kids, other animals, and is SUCH a good boy! Just over 3 years old, microchipped & neutered.

Tostada!

He’s the most charming grey kitty around! He's about 6 months old.

Tostada is a confident fellow who will socialize with anyone- kids, adults, cats, dogs, rabbits! He is gentle and playful. He loves pet beds and hammocks! He plays hard and naps hard…what else are kittens supposed to do?!

He is neutered, up to date on medical, FIV/FELV negative, and microchipped!

💛🐾Meet Cami, an incredibly sweet and happy-go-lucky girl, almost 1 year old and around 35-40 lbs. She’s a people-pleaser who is just happy to be by your side!

💛 Cami’s Personality & Favorites

Ultimate Companion: She is friendly and submissive, making her a wonderful addition to a patient family. She's simply happy to be around you and have snuggles and toys.

🦴Treat Enthusiast: She does an adorable "tippy-tappy" dance when sitting for treats or food—it's a guaranteed smile!

❤️Great with Everyone: She is excellent with other dogs, children, cats, and small animals.

👯🏼🐾Playmate Needed: She loves to play! She is great with other playful dogs and would thrive with a sibling to burn her puppy zoomy energy. (She loves our playful girl dog who is her best friend now)

😍Affectionate: She gives gentle kisses, loves neck and butt scratches, though she is still learning how to fully cuddle.

☀️Mellow Time: Enjoys sunbathing by a sunny window with a comfy blanket and some chill jazz music.

🏠 What Cami Needs in a Home

💕Patience: She is a little nervous of new things and needs patience, but she warms up quickly with a friendly face and treats.

🥰Company & Consistency: Due to her attachment and continued house-training/puppy needs, a work-from-home or part-time office schedule is ideal. She needs someone who can be home the majority of the time to keep up her potty schedule. (She has been doing well when we are both working at the office, but im working from home 3-4 days a week if im not scheduled on weekends)

🐶🙅‍♀️Puppy-Proofing: She knows "sit" very well and walks great on a leash! However, she is still a super curious puppy with a strong nose for stinky shoes and occasional attempt at chewing (slippers/cords). Gentle, firm redirection and plenty of chew toys are necessary!

Cami is a wonderful, loving pup ready to settle down with a family who has the perfect home for her! 💛🐾

Blair

She has a couple bugs in her programming to recode still but her hardware is excellent!

She is 8 months old sweet and snuggly, but loves a good round of fetch or general activity!

She can be so sweet and submissive, she gets on well with other excited dogs but can turn off calmer dogs with her big excited energy lol.
She loves to give hugs and kisses but she can also get mouthy/bitey at times (typical husky).

She is mostly comfortable in her kennel alone/being fed/with bones but if you’re around and she has nothing to do she will throw a husky fit and attempt jailbreak!

Hope you wear belts or tight pants, if not she can and will pants you (we've seen it lol).

She knows sit, paw, and her name to recall.

She is spayed, up to date on medical, dewormed, microchipped, and heartworm negative.
