Going to keep this as simple as you should...Want to help your horse stay warm during cold nights??

Feed more hay!

Horses are better equipped to deal with cold than we are. Aside from their thick, insulated coat, the digestion of forage acts like an internal furnace to help warm them from the inside out.

You can use a slow feeder to slow down the fast eaters or “fluffy” ones (🙋🏼‍♀️ I have one of those!), but having access at all times is important.

A few other things to consider are adding extra salt or an electrolyte (like Bluebonnet Hydrate and Recover) or wetting down existing feed to help with water consumption. For older horses with bad teeth, increase their chopped forage or hay pellets at their evening meal. Avoid adding things they don’t eat on a daily basis like a mash of something other than their normal feed or a type of hay they don’t already eat daily. This can only add to digestive distress.

At the end of a cold day, feed more hay 😘

Afternoons, this is a part time position.
Loading feed, hay, shavings. Must be able to pick up 50lbs. Cleaning warehouse.
Hours can be 2-6 M-F and 8:30-1 Sat we will work with school schedule.

With so much miss information going around about the horses that died in Oklahoma from contaminated horse feed.
Remember Bluebonnet is a Ionophore FREE mill so there is no chance ever of cross contamination. Yes it mills cattle feed BUT it is non medicated and has ZERO Ionophore(medication) in it.

Myth: I can't feed beet pulp because it has too much sugar.

Fact: The name "sugar beet" can be a bit misleading. Sugar beets are grown and harvested to make sucrose and sugar, and beet pulp is the plant material left over once the sugar has been removed. Therefore, beet pulp contains minimal sugar. Dried beet pulp is available with or without molasses. When molasses is added, it is at a very small level (about 3%) to help reduce dust and improve taste. That amount doesn't make much difference in the total sugar content of the diet, so unless you have a horse with insulin resistance or another metabolic disease, it is completely safe to feed beet pulp with molasses.
