Cooper and I had a โdifferentโ kind of training session today! My parents were over, so I asked my mom to help out for a few minutes. She walked my husky, Floki, around on a leash near us while I worked with Cooper (who of course was also on a leash) to continue desensitizing him to that.
Then, we ramped things up a bit. Since Cooper got really excited about balls being thrown/kicked and the chase that occurred at the park the other day, we decided we would work on desensitizing to that as well. I had my mom just play fetch with Floki while Cooper held his โplaceโ command.
This teaches Cooper a couple things: 1, that he doesnโt always get to chase after something he wants. 2, that he has to remain obedient no matter what is happening around him. And 3, that he is allowed to relax even amidst chaos (or what he perceives as chaos).
