As lovers of horses, we know the joy, companionship, and beauty they bring into our lives. Yet, behind every graceful gallop and gentle nuzzle lies a silent commitment—a commitment to their care, their well-being, and their future.

Did you know that it costs an average of $20 to $30 per day to provide proper care for a horse? Yes, every hoofbeat, every whinny, every flicker of their mane comes with a price tag—a price tag that encompasses not just food and shelter, but also veterinary care, hoof trimming, dental check-ups, and so much more.

Behind the scenes, there are dedicated individuals tirelessly working to ensure these sweet souls receive the care they deserve. Yet, their efforts alone cannot sustain the needs of every horse in our community.

Currently, HOPE cares for 27 rescue horses at an average cost of almost $700 per day.

Together, we can make a difference. Together, we can ensure that every horse receives the love and care they need to thrive. Together, we can create a brighter, more compassionate future for all equine companions.

Please, consider donating, volunteering, or simply spreading the word by sharing this post and following this page.

Thank you for opening your hearts to this important cause. Together, we can make miracles happen, one hoof at a time.

With heartfelt gratitude, always.

It is Veterinary Technician Week….
Eastern Equine Associates could not operate, to help you, without the lifeline of these two women!
• Stephanie Hill - Practice Manager
•Katie Jackson- Veterinary Assistant
Both of these women make the office (more Stephanie’s domaine), trucks (more Katie’s domaine), veterinarians 😉 (no one claims us- they just keep our heads on our shoulders), laboratory tests, shipping/mailing, administration, and all else run! Truly, we would not be here to help your horses if it was not for these two!
They deserve all appreciation that we can offer to them ❤️

This has actually been a problem lately…🤔

#1 - 🚨One of us is Always on call for emergencies! We will have a way for your horse to get help, in an emergency, 24/7/365🚨

#2 - We are human, we need sleep, we need time with our families, we need time to be healthy and take care of our minds and bodies.

Below are some simple considerations to keep in mind. 👇🏽

It’s difficult for us horse doctors to admit we aren’t superhuman. We’re hardwired to be there for you and your horse whenever you need us. But we’re finally in the midst of an overdue reality check as a profession and admitting that our desire to be available 24/7 isn’t compatible with our own personal health and happiness.

The most significant pain point for many of us is caring for our clients during regular business hours and then being on call for emergencies after hours. If we are a single-doctor or small practice, this traditionally has been the case most nights of the week.

The good news is that the AAEP along with private veterinary practices and veterinary schools are focused on developing new models for emergency care which ease the strain on individual practitioners. This includes the growth of emergency cooperatives where two or more practices in a geographic area work together to share after-hours care, as well as more emergency-only practices and the use of tele-triage services to address client concerns after normal business hours.

As equine veterinarians reevaluate what after-hours care looks like for their practices, we know that the support of our clients is critical to creating a balance that works for both of us. If your horse doctor talks with you about changes in how after-hours care is delivered, we hope you’ll welcome the adjustments, knowing that this evolution of emergency care must take place in order for equine veterinarians to avoid burnout and continue to be available to treat all of our patients. We appreciate our partnership with you, and your horse does too!

A quick snippet from a recent team training because here at EEAMVS, we pride ourselves on continually working hard to expand our team’s knowledge and skill sets behind the scenes. This allows us to continue to provide our patients with the best care possible and when we’re lucky, we also get to share our love for medicine by teaching the next generation. 👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️
