Trick or Treat!!! Halloween is a time for goodies. Caramel apples, pumpkin donuts, chocolates, and candy corn make for a delicious holiday. It is well known that chocolate can be toxic for our furry friends, but sugary candy can also pose risks for toxicity. Too much sugar can cause stomach upset, excessive thirst, and in severe cases electrolyte changes. If your concerned about a tasty treat your pet has consumed, please reach out to your local DVM or the ASPCA animal poison control for further help.

Friday's spotlight...
Miranda recently joined us from a vet hospital in the Raleigh area, and she is originally from Philadelphia. In her free time, she enjoys all things art. You'll be surprised to also know that Miranda has owned/fostered an array of interesting animals including a snake and a tarantula. Her favorite of all her babies is her 2 year old Basset Hound, Zelus.

Martha is our ray of sunshine. Those that have met Martha love her sweet personality and the way she is always happy. As a cat mom of two black kitties, she knows the importance of letting them be the boss of the home. In her free time, Martha enjoys hunting down all things Hello Kitty and coordinating her purses to the seasons/holidays.

Wednesday's spotlight...
Jan is our emergency guru! After spending many years in VetMed assisting with ortho & overnight ER cases, she joined our hospital a couple years ago to have more time to enjoy her hobbies. Her favorite hobbies include barrel racing her star companions "Pl***oy" and "Baby Jack" & snuggling her cavalier king charles spaniel, "Brew."

Starting the week off is Shauna. Shauna is our fun loving, always smiling vet assistant. Shauna enjoys all things halloween. When she is not working, she can be found spending time with her husband and little girl. Her home is also filled with slobbery German Shepard kisses and two sassy cats.

The Student Veterans of America Craven CC chapter is partnering with Animal Hospital of New Bern, PLLC and Paws of War Eastern North Carolina for a Hurricane Relief Drive in the devastating aftermath of Hurricane Helene. Items for both animals and humans can be dropped off at the Animal Hospital or Craven's Campus Life office in Ward Hard. Questions? Email [email protected].
