Hi all! Hoping everyone is enjoying a great start to 2025!

Just a few reminders/things I want to keep on here:
1. I’m very sorry, but I’m still not accepting new customers at this time. (See #2 and #3 below - I want to be able to do right by all existing customers throughout this year and the big changes we have on the calendar.) And I so wish I had a great boarding alternative to recommend, but I don’t. Just PLEASE do your due diligence! Tour, ask questions, look at town FB pages, etc. Currently, there is no licensing for boarding operations in NH - NONE. Nobody is overseeing the place you are about to entrust with one of your family members, so the onus is on you completely.

****ON THAT NOTE, if you are so inclined, please contact your state legislators and encourage them to support SB 50 by Senator Ward. If your senator is on the Senate Commerce Committee, the bill is being heard this coming Thursday, 1/23. Please contact your senator before Thursday and tell them you support SB 50, a bill creating a committee to research the need for licensing or oversight of boarding facilities in NH.*****

2. Starting next Monday, 1/27, my house will be under construction. (Some work has been done outside already - please excuse the mess!) Please park in front of the kennel or in front of the white shed (right side of the driveway) for check-in and check-out. Please do not park directly in front of my house/tge front door. Thank you for your understanding! If all goes well, the project will be wrapped up by mid-March. (And it makes my eye twitch to think about the next project, slated for the fall, so we won’t talk about that one just yet!)

3. Reminder that the kennel will be closed June 26-July 15. If you have dates for early June or after July 15, please get those requests in ASAP. My apologies for any inconvenience.

4. Additionally, we will be closed May 7-12. What can I say? It’s a big year for our little family! We will be celebrating our oldest’s college graduation that weekend. 🙂🙂🙂

Morning! Happy sunny Saturday! Just giving everyone a heads up. Cora’s Zone will be closed June 26-July 15 next year. Between college schedules and one kiddo’s post-grad plans, it is the only way we can make this big trip work. Europe is calling!

I apologize for any inconvenience. If you need help finding boarding or house sitter options, please feel free to reach out. ❤️

For those seeing the news, we are all ok at Cora’s Zone! As usual, we are in a strange spot where everything likes to go around us. No rain, no wind, practically sunny! Pups are all safe. ❤️

I absolutely love caring for and getting to know all of your pups! I know how hard it is to leave these little personality-filled, nuanced family members with someone else and I never, ever take the trust you place in me for granted. ❤️

Having said that, I’m very sorry but I am not accepting new customers. I’m just a small place and I want to be able to help the folks already coming to me as much as possible.

Please, please, please thoroughly check-out anyplace you are contemplating for boarding. It is insane, but New Hampshire has zero oversight for boarding places. ZERO. (If you only knew what they put rescues through, you’d know how infuriating it is, too.) There is nobody else checking to make sure a boarding facility is operating to any sort of standards for care, cleanliness, knowledge, experience, etc. The onus is 100% on you as the owner!

A few quick recommendations to avoid heartache or disaster:
1. TOUR. You should be allowed to see any and all spaces where your dog may be spending time. Yes, that probably needs to be by appointment for everyone’s safety and sanity (at least for home-based businesses), but also anytime you drop-off or pick-up your dog. Have people come in my place when bowls are soaking in the sink and a load of laundry is out and about to be folded? Absolutely. But they are 100% always allowed inside, outside, anywhere related to the kennel that they want to see.
2. Ask questions but also know the right questions to ask! Experience of the employees/folks who will be with your dog? (Spoiler alert: ‘owned dogs all my life’ does not equate to the ability to care for groups of dogs, not by a long shot!) Cleaning protocol? Cameras/remote monitoring (temperature, etc)? Maximum period of time dog will be left? Are dogs of different families spending time together? If so, how is that handled? How are dogs introduced? If dogs are walked or need to leave the facility, what equipment is used and what safeguards are in place? (Martingale collars, harnesses, double gating systems, etc.)
3. Look at online reviews but also ask friends and local veterinarians’ offices. Cast that net as wide as you can! Make sure the folks who tell you a place is great not only actually own dogs (I’m not kidding on this one) but also that they have first-hand experience with a place. If it’s not a friend you think of as a great dog owner, maybe take their recommendation with a grain of salt. 🥴
4. Ask about past emergencies, if any. How were they/are they handled? Which emergency vet do they use or would they use if needed?
5. Are vaccine records requested? Behavior information? Are meet-and-greets required or encouraged?
6. Do they carry insurance?
7. What are their hours like? Super strict pick-up and drop-off hours might be a red flag that the dogs are left alone a lot of the time. If they know what they are doing and/or they handle daycare dogs as well as boarding, there might be well thought-out reasons behind the schedule. If that’s the case, they should be able to explain those reasons to you eloquently. (But even then they might be blowing smoke up your you-know-what. Trust your gut!! Or just really grill them. 😬😬😬)
8. Speaking of daycare: that is a whole different level of experience, staffing, education, etc. Ask even more questions! Dog-to-employee ratio? If it’s a small, home-based place that’s mostly a one-person show, what are the emergency/back-up plans? Any employees at all? Daily schedule for the dogs — time outside/playing vs. inside/downtime? Bad weather options?

Do your due diligence and then some. Your pups deserve it. ❤️❤️❤️

Photo for tax and for love: I had the honor of caring for Greta, who is just about the sweetest girl ever. Sadly, her family let me know they had to say goodbye to her last week. Rest easy sweet girl. It was a joy getting to know you.

Rhapsody’s turn at flying! (Seen here with one of her many besties, Gigi.) I don’t think there’s anything better than a gorgeous spring day when you get to hang out with great dogs all day!

The Incredible Fying Molly is here to help me remind boarding folks to get updated vaccine info to me prior to your check-in date! (At least two weeks prior to check-in is appreciated greatly by a certain someone’s ADHD-afflicted brain.)

I’m small, folks. Soooo small. No fancy software tracking everything for me (as much as it pains my techie heart to admit it!). Therefore, I gently reiterate that the onus is on YOU to make sure you have gotten updated records from your most recent vet visits to me. (Whispering… I don’t want to decline to check-in your pup due to out-of-date records; so please, please, please ask your vet at those annual visits or vaccine appointments to send updated info to [email protected].)

THANK YOU!!!
Have a wonderful February Break to all those who celebrate. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

A personal note: my daughter will be undergoing a rather involved surgery. I will be unavailable from today, 11/1, until Monday, 11/13. (This excludes those of you with boarding reservations during this time, of course!) All good thoughts for a smooth surgery and uneventful recovery much appreciated! See you on the other side, when this blasted surgery will finally be behind us!! ❤️

Hi all! For those not on my personal page: I was out last week to attend the funeral of a dear friend in Texas. I have been back at it with the pups but am behind on administrative stuff. I will be responding to emails and texts tomorrow during regular business hours. Thank you for your understanding! Photo of new pup Bob for tax. 😀

Milford/Mont Vernon/New Boston folks - please get this flier up on your pages, town pages, etc! Possible sighting in area out that way (Route 13). Need to get the flier in front of as many eyes as possible in those towns.

Again, Cache is not missing from Cora’s Zone. He went missing in New Boston and not from his own home. We all just want to get Cache home with his family who loves him! TIA!

I just want to put it out there that yes, I’m aware of the pup that went missing from a boarding place in New Boston. I’m also aware of the other post regarding a boarding place in Weare (but pup was tracked to New Boston). Neither situations or dogs had anything to do with Cora’s Zone. If you have any questions or concerns or want to chat about how I handle walks, tours, or really ANYTHING, just reach out or come visit. I will never, ever be bothered by questions, even if your dog has been boarding with me since I opened. Ask away! My favorite, favorite thing is when owners tell me they were able to relax while they were on vacation and not worry about their pups! That is the goal, 💯. You knowing your pup is happy, safe, and well cared for — no matter what — is what it’s all about. If there is anything I can answer or show you that helps put your mind at ease, I’m more than happy to help!

Love my boarding pups. They have expanded my heart even more than I ever could have imagined. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Please, please, please keep your eyes peeled for Cache! This sweet boy needs to be home with his family!
