Hope Finds Her Voice
This week, With the help of medication, Hope is eating really well and is loving this beautiful weather. And Hope Found her voice!!! She lets you know when she wants to go out, or wants to go in, or if she wants the ball, or if the puppies are misbehaving! Weāve got quite a few puppies at Trailās End right now. In the past, Hope has just stayed to herself, not really interacting with the little ones, but lately she seems to be having fun with them, allowing them to jump on her and swatting them around. We watch her closely so that she doesnāt overdo it, but itās really fun to see her playing. She has a big deep voice and the biggest smile! She is also trying to compete with Brodie the Aussie for star outfielder! She canāt run as fast as Brodie but once she gets hold of the ball, she doesnāt let go. Iām going to try to figure out how to post videos on here so her fans can see her.
We just sent off her DNA test to DNAmydog.com. We think sheās definitely a staffie but weāre interested to see what else sheās got in there! She is one of a kind, we know that for sure!
We feel fully confident that Hope will be ready for her forever family in March. We plan to have a debutante celebration for her, a coming out party to intrude the new HOPE. I know so many of you have donated to her and followed her progress on her blog and Facebook. We have felt that love throughout this process and are so grateful for our community here and afar. If you would like to fill out an application for Hope, you can get it here on our website. We will be updating her listing as the weeks progress.

Update on Hope:
Hope came to us on Thursday, December 28th. The first few days were just focused on keeping Hope alive. At our 1st visit on Friday to chisolm Chisholm Trail Veterinary Clinic New Braunfels, Dr. Spencer was so kind and loving to her. Hope weighed 30.5 lbs. 1 lb more than when we picked her up. We got some special food but Hope is too emaciated for a rabies shot or any heartworm treatment (She is HW+) until she puts some weight on. She has almost no muscle mass but has some water retention, possibly due to a heart condition.
Hope is now relatively stable on her feet and is playing some out in the yard! Yesterday, before the big rains she was rolling around on the soft grass. We were so happy to see her playing....until we realized she had rolled over a rock, and her skin is so thin on her bones, the ripped a gash in her hip. while treating this, we realized that she has a sore spot on a lump on her hip related to the water retention, that she had rubbed this area raw by wagging her tailš¢.
So Back to Chisolm Trail Chisholm Trail Veterinary Clinic New Braunfels to see Dr. Dawson! As of Jan 2nd, Hope has gained 3 lbs! That's 10% of her body weight! Her skin is so tight and thin they couldn't do stitches so she got antibiotics and water therapy 3 times a day. One Day at a Time. Please consider donating to help us with Hope's medical care.
Here's Hope trotting around the yard before her injury.
Ernie is available for adoption!
