❤️🩹Liberty❤️🩹. A little bit of a long video, but it’s of Liberty. She played and played in the arena area. She was happy. She is able to move about just fine. So long as she keeps feeling good and doing good, we’ll keep right along with her. Her first days seemed gloomy, but she’s turning around. She is eating and drinking well. Slowly adding the spark back in her. Keep healing Liberty. We’ve got all the time you need. ❤️
A little over a week ago I was contacted to help a horse that had been found roaming estray and no one came for him. 🥺. He was in jail with our county sheriffs office. I scheduled an appointment with our vet, and Jeanna and I and Dr. T met at the holding facility to draw his Coggins. We were allowed to pick him up today. We are calling him amigo. He is an estimated 20 yo gelding. He is as sweet as the day is long. Aside from being malnourished and some pretty bad scars on his “ankles”, he seems fine. Welcome Amigo to HBCH.
💔Rant ahead💔 for the love of all things holy, please humans do better! I was notified about this horse literally as she was going through the auction ring. I was told she was poor and seemed blind in one eye. I, with nothing more than one lot pic, asked my contact to bid on her. I lost the bid…. I figured the person who got her didn’t have the best of intentions for her. , so I asked if they would transfer her to me and I’d pay what their high bid was. I was countered, pay the bail plus $50. So I did. Once I was able to get more pictures of her, I became suspicious of DSLD. We saved a one eyed blind, incredibly thin mare with DSLD. Where are her humans that watched all this deteriorating and did NOTHING. She was hauled to auction to squeeze the last few dollars from her. It’s maddening and sickening. We will do what we can for as long as we can. I’ll find some solice that she wont be shipped on to another auction or worse. Today we welcome former tag #433, who we now call Liberty. Many thanks to Larry and Jeanna for picking her up today and getting her settled. $300 bail and a $50 up charge to get her safe. So disappointed in humans today. 🥺
Suzy Q, Scarlett’s legacy survivor, happily adopted along with another HBCH horse, Monita with their herd.
What a great update. ❤️❤️
❤️Magicisthemoonlite❤️ We have great news, good news and some moderately bad news. The great news: he graduated out of quarantine with no sickness. The good news: the bone structure of his right front leg is appearing normal. He does have a bowed tendon, which was reported to me by his former owners. He was in workout on 10/27/24 when he took a misstep and hurt the tendon again. We may always have the puffy appearance. We will begin Magnawave and LZR treatments on him. The moderately bad news is the condition his teeth are in, the abrasions he has on his cheeks due to super sharp points in his mouth and an ulcer on his tongue. He is diagnosed with peripheral caries, which is a condition our vet doesn’t see much. It’s typically caused from way too sugary feed, even sugar cane. The hope is now that he’s not being fed all the sugars, as his teeth grow out, they will erupt healthy. He basically has so many cavities, his teeth feel like moth balls. The cavities have eaten around the outside of his teeth, creating gaps for food to get trapped. We will follow up in 2 months. We’ve made some progress in 30 days, but I feel he’ll really start to blossom now. ❤️
First vet day of the year. We wasted no time. 🤣🤣
7 horses seen. 6 dentals, 3 Coggins, 4 rounds of vaccinations, one fecal sample, 2 microchips.
I’ll make a separate post about Magic. He graduated from QT and was seen by the vet today as well.
Had lots of volunteer help today. Very thankful for that.
Our beautiful Belle. She has come quite a long way since her arrival 2021 and a surgery to remove about 8-9” of embedded wire. Just 🤩
❤️Skye❤️. Brought to us in April of 2020. She was just a yearling who had been in a pretty good wreck, resulting in the fracture of her T3-T9 vertebrae. The top left image is her vet visit back in 2020. She’s a beautiful QH mare.
Kaitlyn and Jeanna brought her out today for a refresher in her ground manners.
Farrier day today. When we started at 8:30 am we were freezing. I dressed like I was in the North Pole. It sure has warmed up now. All the horses did great. We did also have mollie trimmed but her pic wasnt available when I made the video. I’ll add her to the comments later. Next round is next week.
