Humane Society of the New Braunfels Area, Inc. Humane Society of the New Braunfels Area
www.HSNBA.org The Humane Society of the New Braunfels Area is a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization. We can do it. Donate.

We are not funded by the city, the county, or any national humane organizations. HSNBA holds contracts with the City of New Braunfels and Comal County to house stray animals brought in by their Animal Control Divisions. We also accept stray pets brought in by citizens and if space allows, pets whose owners can no longer care for them. Therefore, we are inundated daily with homeless pets and have n

o control over the number or type of animals that enter our shelter. We handle approximately 5,000 animals a year and at any given time care for approximately 100 cats and 100 dogs. The revenue we collect from our contracts covers approximately three days of care per animal and their intake vaccinations. If the animal stays longer, or needs any veterinary care, we rely on donations and adoption fees to cover those costs. The pet overpopulation problem is real and while the bulk of the burden falls on the shoulders of the HSNBA, it is a community problem - a problem that the community and HSNBA can solve if we work together. You can help. Volunteer. Adopt.

We’re here at Tomlinson's Feed from now until 2 PM for a dog adoption event!

We’ve got adoptable dogs from the shelter and from foster homes joining us today — all excited to meet new people and maybe even find a new loving home. 🐾❤️

And while you’re here… you can also help provide food for our shelter pets by donating during Pound4Pound.

Every holiday season, Tomlinson’s Feed hosts their Pound4Pound Pet Food Drive — Austin’s largest pet food drive — and HSNBA is on the ballot! From November 28th through Christmas Eve, every pound of pet food donated to HSNBA through Pound4Pound at Tomlinson’s will be matched, pound for pound, by Tomlinson’s. That means double the meals for the dogs and cats in our care.

🛒 Donate in-store at a Tomlinson’s Feed location
💻 Or donate online at tomlinsons.com
❤️ Just don’t forget to select HSNBA when you donate!

As we celebrate Thanksgiving, all of us at the Humane Society of the New Braunfels Area want to take a moment to share our heartfelt gratitude with you.

Every foster home opened, every hour volunteered, every donation made, every pet adopted, every share, comment, or word of encouragement. Each one reminds us how lucky we are to be part of a community that believes in giving pets a second chance at a first class life.

The shelter will be closed today and tomorrow (November 27 and 28), but we look forward to getting right back to saving lives with you on Saturday, November 29th, during our regular hours from 10 AM to 4 PM.

Domino’s journey through the shelter started like so many others. She arrived as a stray in mid-October and struggled a bit at first with the loud, overcrowded shelter environment. With no tags or microchip, all we could do was post her on our website and local lost pet pages, but no one came looking for her.

Her stunning good looks made adoption easy, and she found a home within a month. After spending 10 days in her new home, she was returned because she wasn’t the right fit, and that’s totally okay! HSNBA promises every adopter that if things don’t work out, our pets can always come back to us. Domino is a perfect example of why this policy matters so much.

She was added back to the website immediately after returning… and THAT SAME DAY, her original owner found her on HSNBA.org. She’d been overseas, leaving “Domino” in her mother’s care. When Domino disappeared, her mom simply didn’t know where to look.

As soon as Domino’s owner saw her photo online, she raced to the shelter. And when Domino saw her? That dog absolutely lost her mind with joy. There wasn’t a dry eye in the building as we watched their reunion up close.

We received the sweetest thank-you email from Domino’s family that read, “I just wanted to take a moment to thank y’all tremendously from the bottom of my heart. Our home has not been complete without Domino here. My daughters are over the moon that she’s finally back home with us, and I truly cannot thank your facility enough.”

We are beyond grateful to have played a part in reuniting this beloved girl with her family.

We want every pet to stay safe with their family this holiday season — and that’s why we’re offering FREE microchipping now through January 1st! Bring your pet to HSNBA during our open hours, and our team will microchip them at no cost. 🎁🐾

And don’t forget to register your pet for free at www.petcolove.org/lost — Petco Love Lost is one of the most powerful tools to help lost pets find their way back home.

We’re so happy for Domino and her wonderful family! ♥️

HSNBA Goes the EXTRA MILE for Atlas — and Now We Need Your Help

Atlas was found on the side of the road with his back leg dangling at an excruciating angle. Even in tremendous pain, he was incredibly trusting, never crying, wincing, or snapping at the people trying to save him.

His finder rushed him to HSNBA hoping his microchip would lead us to an owner. He was chipped, but after multiple attempts, we couldn’t reach anyone responsible for him. With no owner contact and a critical injury that couldn’t wait, we had to act fast.

X-rays revealed a severely broken tibia. In many cases, amputation is the only realistic choice due to cost and limited resources. But this time, the veterinarian offered another option: surgically plating the fracture to save his leg. Atlas is young, strong, and otherwise healthy — and giving him the chance to keep his leg felt like the right thing to do.

It was the best choice for Atlas… but also the most expensive one.

A specialist performed surgery last Friday, and thanks to swift action, Atlas is already recovering beautifully in his foster home with the same Good Samaritan who found him. She hopes to adopt him once he’s healed and give him the loving future he deserves. 💙

But the bill that made this possible is still ahead of us.

We’ve applied for a $2,000 emergency grant, but the total cost of his surgery and care is estimated at $3,000–$4,000. We acted quickly so Atlas wouldn’t suffer any longer—and now we’re asking for your help so we can keep going the extra mile for pets who need urgent care.

💙 Donate Today to Help HSNBA Go the EXTRA MILE for Atlas

https://loom.ly/Flkmk9I

Your generosity helps cover Atlas’s surgery and the continued care he’ll receive in foster. With your support, we can keep saying yes when injured, abandoned, and vulnerable pets need us the most.

Meet Rocky! 🐾

Rocky is a one-year-old sweetheart who’s had quite a journey. He first came to HSNBA as a puppy last December and was adopted, but he returned to us in October when his adopter could no longer keep him. Thankfully, his original puppy foster stepped right back in — and Rocky has been thriving ever since!

Rocky adores his foster home, but he’s ready to meet the family he’s meant to spend his life with. 💙

This boy has so much love to give:

• Potty trained & crate-trained
Rocky does well in a wire pen when left alone, and he’s quiet and respectful with free roam at night. He does seem nervous in tight spaces, so his foster gives him an open, safe setup that works beautifully for him.

• A playful, goofy wrestling buddy
He loves romping with the younger dog in his foster home and enjoys tug-of-war and chasing balls (fetch… still a work in progress 😂). He’s good with cats and kittens — just a bit big and enthusiastic at times!

• A total lovebug
Rocky is happiest when he’s near his humans. He’s energetic, affectionate, and always ready for a walk, an adventure, or a snuggle session on the couch.

• Smart & eager to learn
He knows “sit” and “come,” and he’s working hard on “stay.” He’ll benefit from continued structure, exercise, and a little manners training — especially when he thinks he can help little humans with their snacks.

Rocky will be joining us at Pet Supplies Plus - New Braunfels, TX, tomorrow, November 22nd, from Noon to 2 PM for our dog adoption event! He’ll be there with other adoptable dogs from the shelter and foster homes, all excited to meet new people and maybe even find their new families.

📩 Interested in adopting? Visit www.hsnba.org/adopt to learn more and fill out an adoption form, or come meet him tomorrow at Pet Supplies Plus from 12 - 2 PM!

Thankful Thursday ♥️

This Thankful Thursday is an extra special one! This past Sunday, Faythe In Needles hosted the Second Annual Piercings for Pets fundraiser to benefit the pets at the Humane Society of the New Braunfels Area — and it was a massive success!

From 9 AM to well past 9 PM, Faythe and her incredible team worked nonstop, raising $7,440 to support the lifesaving mission at HSNBA! 💙🐾

The New Braunfels Herald-Zeitung interviewed shop owner Faythe, who shared what inspired her to launch this one-of-a-kind fundraiser after adopting a pet from HSNBA:

“Whenever I went to go pay for her adoption fees, they said it was sponsored and waived. I was like, ‘Well, how do I get involved as a business owner and get people involved and excited?’ I would rather do this than pay for another billboard. It’s a good way to get people in my studio, while also helping our four-legged friends. I like to show people how we’re different.”

We truly cannot thank Faythe and the entire team at Faythe In Needles enough for their generosity and dedication. This event takes days of preparation — from prepping and pre-sterilizing jewelry to organizing their workspace — and then more than 12 hours of nonstop work on event day to serve every person who showed up to support the pets at HSNBA. They put in an incredible amount of effort to make this fundraiser possible, and the people and pets at HSNBA are deeply, genuinely grateful.

Their commitment, creativity, and heart make a real difference for animals in our community, and we are so grateful for their partnership. 💙🐾
