Our team doesn’t just mount, they also hunt! And they’re just as good at hunting as they are at their jobs here at the shop! Anna knocked down a beautiful fallow doe with her fiancée, Hunter last week. Grace harvested a young axis buck this past weekend. Simone and Courtney both harvested their biggest south Texas bucks to date. Congrats to our awesome team and also to everyone who has connected on their targets this season so far! It’s been an amazing start to the season and we have the busiest month ahead of us.

Timelapse Tuesday featuring Hannah making mounting a whitetail look easy! 😎 For having less than a year’s experience, Hannah has come so far so fast and makes it look effortless. Some people just have “it” and she is definitely one of them! There’s a ton of skills and studying that goes into this job, if we have grades she would be an A student!

It’s that time of year! We will be here all week except closed on Thanksgiving Day to allow our staff to be with their families. We look forward to seeing what y’all harvest this season, this weekend was already very productive!

Here’s a behind the scenes timelapse featuring Grace preparing a whitetail form. She begins with roughing up the surface so ensure good adhesion from the hide paste. Then she attaches a replacement nose which gives the inner nostril the proper anatomy and base color. Learning these fundamental skills is the beginning of a long road to becoming a taxidermist. Watching the next generation come up sure is fun!

Doing a little bit of a lot of stuff this week! From installs to a lifesized lioness, detachable antlers to quality checks, there is a LOT happening! And with deer season in full swing our team is on their A game!

This week absolutely FLEW BY! Who else had a fast and furious week? We got so many great pieces mounted, and these two mountain lions ended up in the showroom. Designing these was so much fun and the collaboration from our amazing team to get these done right was top notch! Hope y’all have a great weekend! Don’t forget we are open Saturday 9-2 and Sunday 10-4!

Happy 6 months to our amazing assistant, Grace!! A Texas State art grad, she came to us full of passion and chomping at the bit to learn as much as she can. She has helped out every department from finishing, habitat, and now into mounting assistant. There’s nothing she won’t do with a huge smile on her face and her larger than life personality adds so much brightness to our days! So glad to have you on our team Grace!

Livin’ on the edge… this wall hanging ibex is so freaking awesome, we don’t want to send it home! Nothing beats a gravity defying piece. The ability these animals have to scale steep cliffs is mind bending, it only makes sense to honor that with a lifesized mount like this.
