Doing bloodwork every year can be a great tool for ensuring your pet stays healthy. While your pet is young it is recommended that bloodwork be done before most anesthesia procedures, as they age the recommendation changes to yearly, usually at the age of 7 when they are considered seniors. Being in the area that we are, and given the amount of land there is, that can only mean plenty of snakes. There are many to keep an eye out for and some we can protect against. One of which is the Rattlesnake. We do carry the vaccine and recommend it for those with dogs who like to find fun ropes. This vaccine does need to be boosted 30 days after it is given and at least every 6 months after to continue protecting your pet. This does not mean you do not need to treat it as an emergency if your pet is bitten. We love to bring out the peanut butter for occasions such as nail trims and even vaccines. Meet Danny, he was here a few weeks ago because he LOVES to eat hair ties. He came in for a scope, to look into his stomach and try to retrieve said hair ties while sedated- there were just to many. So Dr. Dawson had to go in and retrieve the rest via what we call a foreign body surgery. Danny is now doing great and is a much loved good boy with a lil weakness his owners are working on.
