update! Work is underway on the lower level of the hospital. When it was constructed in the this was a garage and storage space. But in a few months, it will be a brand new surgery suite, office space and break room!
For your safety, the parking lot and rear entrance are closed to clients and pets until work is complete. Please utilize parking on 3rd Avenue and enter through the front door.

Exciting news! Construction on our lower level begins tomorrow morning. Most of the noisy work will be done early in the day, before appointments begin. However, clients and guests should expect more noise and activity in the office for the next few months. Stay tuned for project updates, as well as any necessary changes to appointment flow. New Brighton's annual car cruise is this Saturday, September 7th from 9am-8pm. Traffic will be heavier than usual in town all day. If your pet is scheduled for an appointment or you are stopping in for supplies, please allow extra travel time and use the lot at the back of the building and rear entrance (accessible via 2nd Avenue).

Friday was the last day of externship for our vti_pittsburgh student Evan. For the past 8 weeks Evan has been fully immersed into at Big Rock. He assisted our veterinarians with exams, performed patient treatments, learned how to use our in-house laboratory equipment, take radiographs, prepare patients for surgery and monitor vital signs while under anesthesia, housekeeping duties, and LOTS of client communication!
We welcome the opportunity to give technician students real-life, hands-on experience that will prepare them for the next part of their veterinary journey. Best of luck to you Evan!

We are thrilled to share that exciting changes are coming soon to Big Rock Veterinary Hospital! Beginning next week, we’ll be embarking on a journey to bring you a better hospital experience for your furry friends. Renovation plans include reworking our existing floor plan to accommodate two additional exam rooms, incorporating state of the art technology, and complete nose-to-tail makeover for our surgical and dental suites! These improvements aim to elevate the level of care and service we provide to you and your beloved pets.
Rest assured, we will continue providing uninterrupted care throughout the renovation process and will keep you informed of any necessary adjustments during construction. And we promise to share lots of pictures too!

He was a purrfect gentleman for his exam and radiographs. He was eager to meet the staff, including Evan, a student from vti_pittsburgh, who is doing his externship at our practice. Welcome Rambo and Evan!

As we gather to celebrate Independence Day with family and friends, let's not forget our furry companions! Here are some tips to keep your pets safe and calm during the festivities:

🎇 Create a Safe Space: Make sure your pets have a quiet, comfortable place to retreat away from the noise.
🐶 Keep Them Indoors: Fireworks can be frightening for pets. Keep them indoors and secure windows and doors.
🐱 Update ID Tags: Ensure your pets' ID tags and microchip information are up to date, just in case they get scared and run off.
🐾 Avoid Fireworks: Never use fireworks around pets. They can cause severe burns and trauma.
🎆 Watch the BBQ: Be mindful of what your pets eat. Certain foods can be harmful to them.
