It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved K9 officer, Draco, EOW 8/6/2025. Draco and his handler Officer Brenton Linton, faithfully served the community of Union Township since 2017, bringing dedication, courage, and loyalty to every call.

Draco joined us from Hungary and quickly became more than just a partner in law enforcement. He was a friend, a protector, and a symbol of bravery for Union Township. His presence will be deeply missed, but his paw prints will forever remain in our hearts.

Thank you for your years of service and the love you shared with all of us.

Rest in peace, Draco. Job well done! 💙💙🐾🐾

Let’s Talk About Your Dog’s Weight

I often get asked about how much a dog should weigh—and it’s an important question! Maintaining a healthy weight is essential for your dog’s overall well-being, joint health, energy levels, and even lifespan.

But here’s the thing: just because a food chart gives a recommended amount doesn’t mean it’s right for your dog. Every dog is different. Here are a few reasons why:

Activity level – A couch potato needs less food than an agility star.

Age – Puppies, adults, and seniors all have different nutritional needs.

Breed & metabolism – Some breeds burn calories faster than others.

Neutered/spayed status – Hormonal changes can affect metabolism.

Health conditions – Some issues may cause weight gain or loss.

Always monitor your dog’s body condition, not just their weight. You should be able to feel (but not see) their ribs and see a defined waist when viewed from above.

Lydia and I had an awesome time visiting Raising Arrows Academy ! The kids (and parents) had some great questions about scent work, how dogs use their noses, and what it’s like raising a puppy. We even did a few fun demos! Thanks again for the warm welcome and the amazing gift basket!
