I figured I’d share this to show the reality in training. Not all colt starts look pretty. You can do all the same prep work and more with some and it’ll look like this. Not all colts give you the perfectly quiet first rides. Some will challenge you and make you second guess yourself. Gabe has put his blood, sweat and tears into Lena.
Scotty Update.
Scotty came to me with a really rough trot that was almost impossible to sit. His nickname was nutbuster2000. He’s learning how to carry his body correctly and ride up into the bridle when asked. No more rough trotting for Scotty boy. This gelding will give me a 110% try even when it’s hard for him.

Trouble’s main job will be a trail horse for an 11 yr old girl. Her owner likes a good neck rein on a horse.
This is her 3rd ride. Day 1 of being introduced to neck reining.

Lily’s First ride. She got a little bothered the first time Gabe asked her to move out. Gabe stopped and flexed her side to side to get her relaxed and thinking.

Getting a horse comfortable with you being above them is so important. If a horse isn’t okay with you above them, they won’t be okay with you on their back.
3rd day of colt starting training for Lily. 🩵
Reba went back home yesterday after 60 Days of training. Such a sweet and willing 2 year old. ❤️
