I just love watching my babies eat. These hatchlings were born 6/22-6/24 and are growing fast. At one month old most have their full front legs. They are now eating a combination of hatch baby brine shrimp and chopped up blackworms. The baby brine shrimp is more of a food for newly hatched babies so I am transitioning them onto blackworms only. Due to the high cost of blackworms I will still feed the bbs to supplement their growing appetites. This is Betty White an axanthic copper and Johnny Depp a GFP Mel all hets clutch. You can see coppers, golden albinos, white albinos, axanthic coppers, Lucy’s, wilds, axanthics, mel coppers, with about half being GFP or glowing. I hope you enjoy as much as I do!
Hatchling eating!
A lucy hatchlings 2 days old is feasting on sorm hatched baby brine shrimp.
This is Axl one of our rescues enjoying the new tank. I showed his former owner and she loved it. We do rescue here as well as breeding. He is a pet and it took him 1.5 months to eat a worm when I first got him. Look how far he’s come!
This egg is in the process of beaning. This short video under the microscope shows how fast they grow.
The new grow out tank! Babies all enjoying some worms. Don’t worry the one in the back got a worm after the video.
I can watch these babies eat all day.
Look at this little lucy jumping as he eats a big mouthful of worms!

Clutch from Jon Benet and Axl is about to hatch! Looks like a lot of Lucy’s and wilds with some gfp.
Jon benet and Axl’s clutch is about to hatch! Little babies look good. Can see lucy and wild and some gfp.
This male lucy was driven to me by a sweet person who could no longer take care of him anymore due to her health issues. She wanted a good home for him and I agreed to take him on. He was not in bad shape, she did a good job caring for him but the move was hard on Axel. He would not eat for me. He was kept in a big quarantine tub for 30 days before I even thought of putting him in the big boy tank. Although axel looked fine, something was off. Kept offering red wiggler until about two weeks after the 30 day mark he finally snapped at one but swam away after that. The next day he took the red wiggler worm which was small and kept it down after a lot of fighting with it. Gradually he began to jump and gulp at the worms. I decided it was ready for the big boy tank and transferred him. Fast forward a few months later and here he is eating a huge nightcrawler like the rest of his boy friends! He’s come so far I’m very happy with his progress.
I can watch babies eat forever!
“Whitney Houston” is at the hotel with her boyfriend in Texas and has started laying! This is a collaboration between Happy axolotls and Monique Alsbrooks. When she is done she will come home to PA. Here is a great video of her laying an egg.
I love watching my adults eat huge nightcrawlers. Here’s Lizzie Borden wrestling with her food.
This is a dracena clipping I got about two years ago and suspended out of my tank towards a small window. Well it grew like crazy and now the girls love playing in it.
Hungry little baby gfp Lucy’s! Watch them chow down on some cut up blackworms.
Babies just hatched last night. These are from Lizzie a GFP wild and Leo a GFP Lucy. All will be GFP. Already seeing a variety of different morphs. Very excited to see these grow.
