They need our help and the best solution is a coordinated Trap-Neuter-Return effort and a colony care program. Pet overpopulation and homelessness is a community problem, not a shelter problem. It takes a unified effort within the community to solve the problem and to do so in a humane, effective manner. Faithful Friends is committed to the national no-kill goal for the entire state. This state goal is in line with the goal set by Best Friends Animal Society to make our nation and no-kill nation! This means that we are committed to working for a day when all Delaware shelters save ALL healthy, treatable, and trainable animals, resulting in a 90% or higher save rate. Faithful Friends is also committed to fighting for animals' welfare of animals in all local shelters so that all pets in our community receive the treatment and care they deserve. Create a community that is committed to the lives of animals and humanely reduces the birth of unwanted pets through spay/neuter initiatives.

2. Find suitable homes for adoptable dogs and cats and provide sanctuary for those who - because of age, illness, or temperament - require long-term or lifetime care

3. Reduce pet relinquishments and manage feral cat colonies in the community whenever necessary by providing critical support services

4. Enhance the bond between pets and people; utilize the shelter and adoptable animals as a teaching and healing tool to benefit people

5. Build from the success of the most forward-thinking leaders in animal welfare who are spearheading the national no-kill movement; reduce euthanasia rates in Delaware to reflect the national no-kill goal of 90% or better save rate. No-kill is defined by saving all adoptable, treatable and trainable dogs and cats (and where community cats that are unadoptable are kept out of shelters unless injured or sick; and where instead their caretakers are supported in the community where they have made their homes)

6. Drive public policy and program development in animal welfare in Delaware to make our state the first no-kill state in America

🖤Eros, a two-year-old male, came to our shelter through our TNR program for neutering. But once we met him, we quickly realized he wasn't just friendly—he was a total sweetheart! After his stray hold was lifted, we knew he deserved a chance at a loving home. Now, this handsome black-and-white tuxedo cat is ready to find his forever family!

A huge thank you to our newest volunteer, professional dog groomer Hilda Ramos! This week, she began generously donating her time to groom the dogs in our care who are waiting for loving homes. This pup had long, unruly fur, but thanks to Hilda's skill and care, she now looks fabulous! Hilda's gentle touch and kindness make a world of difference for these dogs, and we're so grateful to have her on our team!

💕Meet Vada! She's looking for her Valentine!💕
💕This pint-sized pup came all the way from Animal Control in Philadelphia in January 2024 and is STILL searching for a forever family to call her own. Weighing in at just around 37 pounds, she's already 5 years old and won't be getting much bigger. Vada has done well with other playful, energetic dogs and is incredibly wiggly and affectionate with both people and pups. 🩵On December 20, 2024, a compassionate citizen found Wolfie—a cold, emaciated stray covered in fleas—abandoned in freezing temperatures in Wilmington. He was brought to our shelter, where our clinic team provided immediate care.
🩵Days later, Wolfie began having unexplained seizures, requiring medication and ongoing treatment. Despite his rough start, he slowly regained strength, revealing his loving and playful personality.
🩵Thanks to the kindness of a good Samaritan and our dedicated team, Wolfie has transformed from a neglected stray into a loving pup, proving that love and perseverance can change a life.

🚨WORKING CATS AVAILABLE🚨
Some of our rescue cats have come from unsafe conditions and are not suited to be indoor pets but thrive as barn cats. In exchange for food, water, and shelter, these cats will help control your rodent population.
During the four-week acclimation period, all equipment and supplies will be provided and delivered. All cats are sterilized and vaccinated and can be delivered for free to PA, DE, NJ, MD, and VA properties.
Faithful Friends recognizes the unique needs of these cats and is committed to helping them live a safe and happy life.

⚠️URGENT FOSTER NEEDED!⚠️

Abby is highly expressive and almost human-like in her emotions. She can get sad and lose her appetite but quickly bounces back with attention. She loves being outdoors and is a bit of a yapper (girl likes to chat!!), she gets along with dogs but is uncertain around cats, often chasing the feral ones near her home. Abby takes time to warm up to some adults but, once she trusts someone, she eagerly rolls over for belly rubs.

Meet Bluey! A disabled puppy who was abandoned in a local park a few weeks ago. He’s a spunky guy who likes any puppy loves toys, food and attention.He was recently donated a wheelchair to help with his mobility issues from @tysonsloveandhopeonwheels He is still meeting with ortho and neurology specialists to find how best to help him! He has made great strides already in his foster home, now being able to eat and drink on his own while standing. Though he is small, he is FIERCE and spunky!

Our History Faithful Friends was founded in 2000, as Citizens for the Protection and Care of Animals, by a group of local animal lovers who believe there is a better way to address the problem of pet homelessness than mass euthanasia.
