Ace Loves his Treadmill!!!!

04/21/2024

Hello, my name is Chelsey, I am Mike and Kelley’s daughter. My 1-year-old Golden Retriever Daisy has had 7 ear infections in 7 months! Daisy has been prescribed the following: Simplera Otic, Malmetazone and Claro twice. I have switched Daisy’s food. She is now eating Wellness Complete Health Adult Whitefish and Sweet Potato as her main dry food. I would like to add that we moved to Virginia from Florida in June 2023. Daisy never had an ear infection in FL.
I have a few friends that have told me to try Posatex Otic Suspension, Osurnia, mix together hydrocortisone cream and Miconazole7 cream, Zymox Ear Solution and another friend said Zyrtec. I would love some feedback from you all. Thank you for your time!

Do's & Don'ts

The following will be a list of do’s and don’ts for your Redneck Treadmill. If you follow these basic steps, you and your pup will have a great toy to play with for a long time.

#1 Thing you need to remember. YOU are the Trainer! It takes a little time for your pup to get the hang of something new!

The Redneck Treadmill will NOT Fail!
The Pup will NOT Fail!
The Trainer Could FAIL!

Your Redneck Treadmill will come set-up for your pup. There is no need to adjust the tension until your pup has become an expert at running on the Redneck Treadmill.

A good harness is necessary to keep your pup safe and comfortable. See link and photo.

Make sure you take your pup outside before and after running on the Redneck Treadmill. I’ve learned from my mistakes on this one!

When you pick up or I deliver the Redneck Treadmill I will have one of my pups demonstrate how to run on the Redneck Treadmill.
I use a toy to motivate the pup to run on the treadmill if necessary. The toy I use for each pup is related to play time outside. Their favorite toy to get them excited. They need to know it’s time to play!

I’m not a fan of using treats as a motivator unless used for achievements. If you’re just feeding your pup as they are trying to run/walk on the treadmill that defeats the purpose in so many ways. Give them a treat after an accomplishment. One example I saw from a trainer was a stick of cheese out in front of the pup. Now that worked great. The pup never ate any of the cheese but every once in awhile got close enough to bite at it!

After the demonstration we will put your pup on the Redneck Treadmill. I’ll make sure that the leash is in the correct position. I will give you pointers on what you can do to get your pup moving. It’s so important to remember this is play time! You are the trainer! Be excited for your pup. They will pick up on your excitement and want to play with you. Same goes for the trainer showing disappointment and frustration. Your pup will pick up on your emotions.

After about 30 seconds of working on the treadmill give your pup the toy along with big hugs and praise. We’ll keep your pup hooked up while taking a break. Ask questions while your pup is resting.

Keep an eye on your pup they may want to start running again! Let them go again for another 30 seconds. Then give your pup the toy along with big hugs and praise.

That’s enough for the introduction. Very important not to overuse the treadmill. Each workout should be short and fun!!!

During the training phase all you are trying to do is get your pup comfortable on the treadmill. Depending on your breed of pup it could take 1 day or a week. The key is to be patient! Once they get comfortable, they will be ready for workouts. Example of a workout: Run/Walk for :30 Rest for :30. Repeat. Another workout we like for experienced pups is: Run for :30 Rest for :30. Run for :15 Rest for :15. Run for :10 Done.
