Both of these sweet boys are ready for their new, forever home. Staff describes them as, “sweet love bugs.” 🥰

Lasagna is a 5 year old male that is a little on the chubby side weighing in at 16lbs!

Comet is a 2 year old male weighing in at 8lbs.

Yesterday was a very good day here at HCAS. Four cats (Dove, Bubba, Simba and Slim) and one dog (Noelle) went to their holiday fosters! We also had one cat (Pennywise) and one dog (Charlie) adoption. And even MORE exciting news- Scooter’s holiday foster signed his official adoption paperwork!! 🥰

Many dogs and cats still sit awaiting their family and furever home.. Look at those adorable faces!!

We cannot stress enough that fully vetted dogs being adopted out through rescues/shelters are cheaper than getting a ‘free’ puppy/dog. Once people hear our adoption fee, a lot of people never respond or say “Oh, that’s too expensive”.

All of our dogs have a $300 adoption fee. Why? Here’s everything that goes into our dogs during the time they’re with us.

* Multiple rounds of dewormer
* Distemper/Parvo Vaccines
* Bordetella (Kennel Cough) Vaccine
* Microchip & Lifetime Registration
* Dental Cleanings
* Rabies Vaccine & Certificate
* Spay/Neuter
* Heartworm Test
* Heartworm prevention (while in rescue)
* Flea/Tick prevention (while in rescue)

And that’s not including the dogs that come to us with health problems/conditions that require extra vet attention.

We are a small group of dedicated volunteers who pay for everything ourselves. There is no profit to be made off of running a rescue. Our adoption fee will help us make back some of the money to help us save more dogs but there will be no profit made. We won’t even breakeven. Our adoption fee is what helps us continue with our mission of saving as many as we possibly can and making sure our dogs are happy and healthy.

We hope this breakdown helps people understand what goes into a rescue dog compared to a free dog being rehomed or given away. It may be a large sum up front but overall saves you, the adopter, a lot of money. We do our best, so please be kind!

Meet Noelle and Cocoa!

Noelle is a senior female that loves to lay on the couch. She gets daily medication to treat skin conditions and takes them really well. Hot dogs and treats is the way to this girls heart. ❤️

And remember Stray 24D-12080? Well meet Cocoa! This sweet senior girl is under medical care and we would love to see her find somewhere to relax while she continues to get better. Cocoa is being treated for her skin and ear infections.

Poor Milo keeps getting passed up. He is 3 years old and has been at the shelter for 83 days. Milo has had a few interests, but they have fallen through each time, due to no fault of his own. He would make such a perfect companion as he is well behaved, friendly with children, and other dogs. Can someone give this sweet boy a home for Christmas?

We are also only 5 days away from pick up day for Home for the Holidays!! We have so many dogs and cats that would love to get a break from the shelter.

Look at this two go!🐾🩷 Velvet and Rosie love playing together! Velvet is 2 years old and 42 lbs, and she loves to play! Velvet has been with us at the shelter for almost 40 days now and we don’t know why! She is clearly very good with dogs, and she is also good with cats and kids! She loves to snuggle up on the couch with the humans as well!🩷🐾 Rosie is a very sweet, super friendly boxer baby. She is 8 months old and 55 lbs. She is good with kids, cats, and as you can see she is good with dogs.
