My name is Sox and I’m available for adoption in New Durham, NH. I’m a 2 year old Great Dane. I am neutered and had my stomach tacked. I love to play with other dogs both big and small in the daycare. I am respectful with the other dogs when I play and am pretty good at being gentle and knowing my size. I have been around kids as young as 8. Never been around cats, but I’m willing to give it a try. I’m looking for the perfect home who understands I AM A GREAT DANE! I love to play and share my toys. I have a loving personality and really like to snuggle. If you are truly interested in giving me a lifelong loving home, please contact Zion Hill Kennel and ask for Lesley. 603-859-0149. Adoption fee does apply. Serious inquiries only. If you can see this ad, he’s still available. Please tell us about yourself and family so we can make sure it’s the right fit for everyone.

My name is Sox. I am up for adoption and looking for a place to call my own. I will be 2 years old in October. I’m already neutered, had my gasteopexy and I’m up to date on all my shots. I really love to play with other dogs. I’m even really good with little dogs. So if you have a playmate at home for me, then that’s a bonus. I am super playful, I love to run and I really like to play in doggie daycare. I was not treated very kindly by my previous owner so I may be cautious of you at first. But if you show me you won’t hurt me then I’ll be your best friend for life. I’m very puppy like still and have been working on my basic commands and leash training. If you are interested in adopting me please contact the human who helped me write this. She would be happy to answer any questions you may have. Adoption contract and fee does apply. Located in New Durham, NH.

We are taking a moment to reach out to everyone quickly.

We have heard of at least two kennels in our area that are no longer offering boarding and another that is not going to be offering daycare . With that said, we’d like to share some information about our kennel with everyone as we have received so many phone calls.

Our hours of operation are: Monday- Friday 6am to 6pm and Saturday 6am -10am. We are closed to the public on Sunday’s (but yes, we are here taking care of the dogs). We will not answer the phone or emails after hours.

Our boarding is $40 per night per dog. Dogs must be picked up prior to 10am on departure day or they will be charged for the day. You must notify us if you plan to stay beyond 10am so we can make sure we have the space for your dog(s) to stay. Mon-Friday our last drop off is before 5pm for boarding. Saturday our last drop off is 10am. If you can help it, please do not wait until the last 1/2 hour to drop off or pick up. Especially on a Saturday. The past month we have not been able to close on time on Saturday’s due to everyone waiting until the last 20-25 minutes to drop off or pick up. We have a lot of dogs that need our attention and we want to be able to continue to provide that excellent care for them all so please be curtious with our time. All boarding reservations require a 50% non-refundable and non-transferable deposit. We will not hold your dog(s) reservation without it. We are able to take your deposit via credit/debt card over the phone. ***please pack extra food and medication as flights have been having issues lately***

Our daycare runs Monday- Friday only. Drop off is 6am-8am. No dogs will be allowed to drop off past 8am! Pick up is no later then 5:30pm. Any dog not picked up by 5:30 will be charge a late fee. If still not picked up by 5:45pm we will board your dog for the night and you can pick them up in the morning. Our Daycare charge is $30 per day per dog if your dog comes at least once a week every week. Otherwise, you are considered a drop in daycare service and the charge is $40 per day per dog. You must tell us which days you are coming each week as we will not put your name down on the schedule unless you tell us. If you need to cancel, you must give us a 24 hour notice or we will charge you for the day.

Our grooming is made by appointment only! We are currently booking 2-3 weeks out so please plan ahead. If you need to cancel or reschedule please call immediately. We do require a 24 hour cancellation or you are charged for your entire groom. If you are boarding and need grooming while boarding, please let us know at the time of booking so we can fit you in. Fitting you in means just that. Please do not expect your dog to be done in 1-2 hours. While we can offer one on one, start to finish grooming, we charge extra for that service at a rate for the time it takes us from start to finish. Those have to be scheduled in advance and not the day of your appointment. Making your dogs and cats look their best takes time, so please be patient with us. We are doing the best we can.

I know our policies sound strict but they are. My goal is to offer the best level of care I possibly can. I want pet parents to know we aren’t like the other kennels. We care about each of your dogs. We treat them as if they were our own. We want you to go away and know your dog is being loved and cared for properly. What’s the point of vacation if you are worried all the time?

In closing, I’d just like to say; please be patient and kind with our entire kennel staff. We all work harder and longer than you even know. Our team is here more than we are in our own homes a lot of the time. Just because we are closed to the public doesn’t mean the care stops. We work well into the night 24/7/365 to make sure all these dogs we have here are given all the love and care we can. Please don’t yell at our staff. We are all human and make mistakes. But we are working as hard as we can to provide the best of the best care and we hope it shows.

It is with the heaviest of hearts I have to share we had to lay our best girl Savanna to rest on Monday 7/29/24. A lot of you have asked where she was. It’s very hard for me to talk about right now as she was a part of my everyday life. She was born 4/13/2013 and even before she was all the way out Pam said “that’s the one”. She knew this dog was going to be so special to me and boy was she right. Savanna had 3 litters in her life and we have her son Jojo form her first litter and her daughter Betty from her last. The pups you see at the kennel are her great grand babies. Savanna was always so kind and loving. She raised puppies so well. She knew how to be gentle but firm. Savanna was a full time working service dog for me by the time she was 3. She worked until she was 10 years old. She may have retired from the “field” but she loved to care for me and never truly retired. She knew more about me than I knew about myself. She was my absolute best friend til the very end. Pam accepted that Savanna was the most important thing in my life. (She really didn’t get a choice😉)While her mind and heart were strong, her hind end became so weak after her fall back in May that getting up and walking were a big challenge for her. Pam and I held her tight. I sang her our song and Pam and I gave her kisses as we said goodbye to 11 1/2 years of the best love and friendship a dog could ever give. We have been spending extra time with Halo who is taking the loss of her sister really hard. Fern has been playing extra with Willis but you can tell she takes care of Halo now the way she did Savanna. Gene and Savanna were so sweet together.

Please just know that it’s still so very hard for us to talk about. I’ve tried my best to keep it together at work when telling those who have asked. Our hearts are just shattered. She will always be a very special dog in our hearts.

READY FOR ADOPTION!!
Sox is ready for adoption! Sox is looking for a home with people who are willing to go slow and let him warm up to you. It doesn’t take long before he’s your best friend. He was badly abused by men and does much better with women, but will warm up to men if given the chance. He is still very very puppy-like and loves to run and bounce around the yard. He would love a doggie playmate that wants to play with him. He will be 2 in October and is a typical young Dane who has no idea what size he is.
He is neutered, gastropexy (stomach tacked), cherry eye fixed, and has been updated on his vaccines.
Due to his abuse, we do not recommend him off leash at this time. He has been working on his basic commands, leash walking and desensitizing him to “startle” noises. He’s greatly improving with every training session. His new home will need to continue to work with him in these areas. We are unsure how he is with cats as we do not have them here and he didn’t grow up with them. He has been out in our daycare program. He loves all the dogs he’s met so far with no issues. If you think you can offer Sox an amazing home, please contact us and we can answer any other questions you may have. Adoption fee and contract does apply.

We want to thank each and every one of you who have helped donate to Sox’s surgery. Yesterday we received an anonymous donor who matched all of the donations we had received for Sox. That donation as well as the many other donations received yesterday has made it possible for us to completely pay off Sox’s surgery. We couldn’t have done it without the amazing people you all are who have helped give Sox a second chance at life. We have spent a lot of time and training into this boy. Once he’s fully healed, we will be placing him up for adoption to the perfect home. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping Sox. ❤️

We want to thank every person who came out yesterday for our Nail Trim Special to help raise the funds for Sox’s surgery. We did a total of 44 nail trims in 3 hours. We raised $581 dollars thanks to all the generous donations. We still need to raise a little over $1000 to finish paying for Sox’s surgery. Every little bit counts and we appreciate you all so much.

Sox update:

Sox had his surgery today and is back resting now. His eye looks so much better already. He can actually see out of it now. We want to thank everyone who has helped support Sox by donating. We still need to raise about $1600 more to cover the rest of his surgery. Please consider donating any amount you can. All nail trims this Saturday are $5 and the proceeds all go towards Sox’s surgery bill.

We want to thank the Broadview team and especially Dr. Chapin for getting us in and taking such great care of Sox. He’s on the road to recovery so that he can soon find the perfect home once he’s all healed. It takes a village and we appreciate you all.

Donations can be sent through PayPal email [email protected]. Please label the donation to Sox. Unfortunately, I only have my personal Venmo which can still be labeled “Sox”. Please send a PM and we can send you our Venmo.

Sox appreciates you all helping him. ❤️

Update on “Sox”. He saw two different vets these past few weeks. One was to have all his vaccines updated. The other to take a look at his eye and get him scheduled for surgery. Good news!! Sox has gain 18 lbs in the short time he’s been with us and his skin is improving drastically. He is on a medication for his face as he has very bad acne under his chin. His surgery is scheduled for this Wednesday July 17th. We need to raise $2,500 to cover the cost of his surgery which will repair his eye, get him neutered and have a gastorpexy done all at the same time so when he recovers he will be able to find a forever home.

We want to thank everyone who’s donated. Tractor Supply has donated enough food to last Sox quite some time while he stays with us to recover after his surgery. We have raised around $400 so far in donations. Any help we can get to pay for Sox’s surgery is greatly appreciated. You can send donations through PayPal with email [email protected]. We don’t have a Venmo for the business but you can message us privately and we can give you the Lesley’s Venmo if you’d like to donate that way. We appreciate you all. He’s one lucky boy to have us all here to help him get back to health and find his forever home.
