Fox & Phids Captive bred Regal Jumping Spiders and Accessories

Exciting news not only will I be getting back into breeding but I will be starting an Etsy page called the jumping fox I will be making jumping spider hides that I designed my self. I have spent many months creating jumping spider hides for my 3-D printer. I have a bunch of test models that I will be selling for super cheap and I’ll be offering them in different colors. Also will be selling crested gecko feeding ledges that I designed myself for juveniles and adults so I’m super excited look out for more posts in the future

I wanted to make this post. I currently do not have any young jumping spiders for adoption. I have one adult that just molted into adult a few months ago I am willing to adopt out she is fifty and comes with enclosure or I can be flexible without enclosure, 3 striped velvet spiders that can go for fifty each with enclosure. I also have 5 baby softscale harlequin dal crested geckos available for adoption. Sixty five each, eighty with enclosure. That is all I will have for a while. I may be breeding jumpers again at some point but for now I am focused on my full time job and my other critters.

So I’m not about drama but when you mess with my family, animals or money I’m not letting it go. I will no longer promote, support or purchase from SGV Mantis and I suggest you all be careful as well. Back in May of this year I purchased a mantis with shipping for $87.55. Paid him upfront figured it would take about a week to ship and then few weeks went by and I didn’t hear anything so I reached out. I’m like “hey no rush but when are you planning on shipping” and he’s like “oh I’m preparing for a show” Another week or 2 went by nothing. Then I reached out again and he said he was prepping for another show. Few weeks went by again and I’m like hey I really need to know when you’re shipping so I can be home. Finally he said he would ship and by that time it was peak 95 degrees here so I said no it’s too hot now. Then we got into July timeframe and at that point, I didn’t even want the mantis anymore because it had been weeks and weeks and message after message and the mantis was already at an L4/L5 so I’m like just keep the money for credit and I’ll get a mantis down the road. Then my dog went through some medical issues and my priorities shifted but I also started hearing he was taking other peoples money and not shipping so i made the decision to request a refund….Well It’s been 6 months now , multiple requests to get my money back, excuse after excuse promises of a refund and still nothing. I gave fair warning that my last message was the last, and then I was gonna just handle it myself and that was about 3 weeks ago. At the end of the day, I have empathy when people are going through things, but when you are a business, you have absolutely no right to accept peoples money and not produce what they paid for and then just keep the money for your own hardship “that’s called theft”. I work very hard for my money and I didn’t give him a donation so it’s extremely unethical at this point. So after multiple attempts to rectify the situation and six months, too long of being patient I will use my platforms to spread the word. FB is small but when I take it to TikTok where I have almost 70K followers and show all the messages from back to May. Maybe people will think twice before they purchase.

I think what makes me really upset about the situation is that I and others have promoted his business multiple times on TikTok and he def gained followers from us doing so and in return he rips us off?

Hi all!! Now that I have taken a break from jumping spider breeding and I have rehomed all of my jumping spiders. I have decided to start offering boarding services for the non traditional pets. I know how hard it can be to go away and not know what to do with the critters that pet sitters do not want or know how to watch. I will only take in what I can handle but I can take in: tarantulas limited intake space available and I will not take species in that have venom that is medically significant so basically no old worlds this is for the safety of my other pets. Jumping spiders, juveniles and adults and I will take in slings, but the price will vary based on how many slings because of the care requirements. I can take in Praying mantis and have the space for boarding about 5 at a time. I can not take in large snakes due to the fact I have rodents unless and limited space unless they are small in size we can discuss. I can take in crested geckos. I may be able to take in small rodents also and all other small pets can be discussed. I will not be offering any services for dogs or cats or any services that require me to come to your home. My services are boarding only. All other critters can be discussed . Payment will be required up front and I will require a signed contract that you will not leave your pet with me and not return 😂 it’s happened before. This is not some big business or anything. I was a Pet Sitter for years and now that I have wind it down and do not have as many jumping spiders to take care of thought why not offering boarding services for people that wanna go away and I have no idea what to do with their spiders are praying, mantis or bugs in general, so if you’re interested, just message me

I’m gonna talk about yet another controversial topic of the trend of feeding your jumping spiders fruit and daily sugary Qtips. I have seen multiple posts in Spider groups, where people are feeding their jumping spiders primarily fruit and an occasional bug. Please do not do this! So I’m gonna provide some facts. In the wild it has been observed that jumping spiders will find and drink nectar. But why? Studies have concluded that could be due to lack of food where the compound sugars provide enough nutrients for survival as well as hydration especially in drought conditions. But the compound sugars they were observed consuming were extrafloral nectar sucrose, glucose and fructose and honeydews: maltose, melezitose and raffinose. These all produced naturally in plants or in found in the fermentation process of honey. In captivity they are given an endless supply of food as well as water. So they don’t have the same means of survival. It has been shown however that the occasional offering of nectar or honey was beneficial for jumping spiders in captivity but NOT as a primary food source. However fruits in our grocery stores could have pesticides even when washed there could be traces and you shouldn’t be using just any honey. If you want to provide a sweet treat for your spider. Best fruit is organic honeydew melon stay away from bananas not enough water and extremely starchy and sticky and if you insist on doing other fruits, make sure it’s organic. Best nectar is organic USDA certified hummingbird food, Organic Honey Dew Honey, organic wildflower honey. The honey you mix with water. Don’t just buy some random fruit salad or fake honey and be giving this to your spider as a food source. Get the right stuff and give them this a few times a week as a treat. Or when they get older they can benefit from the extra pick me up when they slow down eating. But please feed them bugs as a primary food source. Please do not push these sugary snacks into their webs, making their web extremely sticky with sugar. 😂😂 the end

Date TBD but I will be having a pop up shop for one day only in Naugatuck CT. All my regal jumping spiders will up for adoption at a reduced adoption fee. I will have 8oz handmade enclosures for juveniles and I will also be doing a raffle for a spider and a handmade enclosure. I do not like doing the expos and running a website is just exhausting having a full time job. So I thought this would be a great way to have people come out pick your spider, avoid FedEx shipping fees. Once I figure out the logistics I will post date and time! Prob won’t be till it gets a littler cooler. But I have some VERY impressive babies all of them look like hot Cheetos 😂

Basics of Baby Regal Jumping spider Care:

Moms will have multiple sacs even up to 6. So be prepared for the mom to continue to lay till the end of her life.

Mom will lay an egg sack and stay tucked in her nest, providing a temperature controlled environment till the babies hatch. The eggs will turn yellow sometimes orange in color.

babies will turn black will emerge. A they will stay close to the sac at first as they eat the infertile eggs that mom lays as a food source. You do not need to take out the egg sack until the babies have ventured to the very edges of the nest. That is when you know the babies are about to emerge.

Mom seals the nest edges so the babies can’t get out but when they get old enough to start eating they will chew their way out this is why when they get to the edge you know any day now babies will be coming out.

If you don’t remove them at that time, they will emerge into the enclosure and then it’s very very hard to give Mom water and also they will escape through the air holes of your enclosure so it’s important that you take them out at the very moment you see them hanging out at the edges of that nest.

Take mom out temporarily then take a pair of long tweezers and water, wet the tip of your tweezers and rub the edges of the nest to loosen the edges aka “anchors” and you should be able to pull the egg sack out in one shot. His mom has created a nest. That is very hard to get to. I take scissors and gently tap the edges of the nest to make the babies move out of the way and then I cut the nest away from the area. Once you have fully loosened the nest, you should be able to pull it out safely without harming the babies, if this is not at all possible, put the entire enclosure into a butterfly mesh habitat and keep the top open of your enclosure. That should be a last resort though because it is an absolute pain.

Relocate the nest to a 32oz deli container with a vented lid and poke air holes in it with a pin. You can get the vented lid deli cups on Amazon.

the babies will take a minute to emerge, so in the meantime, get yourself some melanogastor fruit fly cultures. also, I would highly suggest ordering the Josh's Frogs Melanogaster Fruit Fly Culture Kit from Amazon to continue to make cultures to save money. Also you will need a funnel and a plastic condiment bottle like for ketchup, you can get the condiment bottles at the dollar store.

Get your self a micro spray bottle as well and fill it with bottled spring water or distilled NEVER TAP.

Once the babies start to emerge, you will want to put your funnel into your plastic condiment bottle. Put your fruit flies in the fridge for 20 minutes then tap the fruit flies out into the funnel and you’ll want to spray the fruit flies into your 32 ounce container “sometimes you have to cut the top of the condiment bottle”. You’re gonna do this every couple of days no more than every 3 days.

Spray the deli cup every day but hold the spray bottle at least a foot or more above the deli this will keep the droplets micro and avoid drowning the babies. If the droplets are too big, because your spider breathe from its abdomen aka book lungs, they can drowned very easily.

once your spiders start to get white markings on them, they should be around their 4th molt. That is when you’re going to want to separate them out do not separate them out too early they do better communal. The only time you want to separate them right away is if you noticed that you have a clutch that happens to be extremely cannibalistic otherwise leave them together they are going to eat each other here and there. It is part of nature and you want the strong to survive.

When you separate them out, get 5oz deli cups poke pinholes in all of them hot glue, some cork bark and a fake flower head in there and then mark on your deli cup when they hatched and who the Mom is because when you adopt these out later you’re a doctors are going to want to know when they hatched.

Once you separate them out into their own deli cups, you are going to want that move them up to Hyedi fruit flies and then move them up to house or blue bottle flies or if you have them you can do baby meal worms “I don’t feed meal worms”

I will be making a full video on how to take care of babies and posting it here when I’m able to edit it.

Tip! I recommend buying the DALTACK 5-Tier Letter Tray Paper Organizer this will hold about 50 5oz deli cups and the mesh wiring allows you to place them near a window and get natural light or place a light on top
