This is one reason why it is so important to make sure you are hiring a professional and experienced pet sitter/dog walker/cat companion. I donāt like these stories, I donāt want to post them but the uptick in which unqualified individuals are walking and watching animals with disastrous results are alarming. My advice to those seeking a pet sitter, BARE MINIMUM you do a meet a greet with the individual staying in your home to see how they interact with your pet and also your personal space. If you are boarding, you have every right to see where your pet will be living/sleeping/eating for that time. Pay attention to your animal during the interaction and if anything feels off, go with your instinct. ASK US ALL THE QUESTIONS! How long have you been doing this? What is your prior animal experience? Why are you doing this? Are you insured? Do you know pet CPR and or first aid are some examples. Your pets safety and comfort should be the number one priority of your sitter.
