It has been a difficult start to the year for NECC and the Richter family. It is with heavy hearts that the doctors and their daughters share the passing of one of their three kitties, Marbles. Marbles was Playful’s sister, who many of you know passed away last month. Late last Friday, this cherished member of our family crossed the rainbow bridge, leaving behind precious memories and a paw print on our hearts. Marbles brought us so much love and joy. She will be deeply missed.

Late last Friday night, the doctors and their daughters had to say goodbye to one of their four kitties, Playful. Originally from a litter of five abandoned at NECC in 2008, Playful was adopted by the doctor’s daughter, Sarah. We want to remember all of the love and happy moments Playful shared with us:
“Helping” the girls with their annual Christmas jigsaw puzzle by walking across the pieces and getting them stuck to his paws giving him the nickname, Sticky Paws.
Dr. Richter having to sneak him extra treats without the other kitties knowing.
“Sneaking” into the basement once a week with Dr Arcuri. (They had a “no cats in the basement” rule.)
And of course all of the love and cuddles he shared with us all. He will be truly missed.
