Had some fun in Aiken this past weekend where my students Alison Eyth and her horse Bella Chloe, Claire Nestor and her horse A French Connexion (Jaxon) .eventing , myself and my good bay horse Obi-1 (we are in the middle) won the mixed level Adult Team challenge out of 10 teams! (originally said more here sorry!) Here we are just giving them carrots before loading up to go back to NC. Many thanks to Custom Saddlery for our great dressage saddles, my jumping saddle, and their awesome service and my sponsorship, and to for keeping Jaxon and Obi happy campers! Also a big congrats to both Alison and Claire on their qualifying for the AEC's this year at the Novice level!

So proud of my whole team this last weekend at the at the beautiful . Everyone stepped up and accomplished some goals, Alex Anderson, Catherine Paschal, and Jadyn Lee (1st pic) all had solid jumping rounds and placed 1st or 2nd in their starter divisions and Claire Nestor placed 3rd in her Novice division, (3rd and 4th pics). Meanwhile Obi and I completed his first time out at Training level with no jump penalties, (but I confess to trotting a few strides to balance him up before the coffin), so we had time penalties, but I was still super pleased with him.

We had a lovely evening at the NCDCTA awards gala this evening where my student Alison Eyth (on my right) and her horse "Bella Chloe" earned HOY at the Novice Eventing AA level and got her Gold medal for eventing at the same level. And my student Melissa Johnson's (on my left) horse and I were 4th in the 4th level Open division (He also earned Melissa her USDF Bronze medal, and finished 12th in the Region 1 finals at 4th Open), and Alison got her USDF Bronze as well. Thank you and a big shout out to all of the organizers and sponsors of this event. (Too many to list), but especially , owner Michelle Karwoski, and Sarah Bookner, who did a fab job presenting. Also big congrats to my friend Karyn Becerra and her horse "Madame Butterfly for earning HOY at Grand Prix! Karyn was one of the first peeps I met when I moved to NC, and has worked very hard for it!

As usual I am behind on my postings, but hopefully I will get caught up! My longtime close friend Mary Duenow and I decided to take a trip to Italy together to celebrate our bdays together. These are pics of where we started: the town of "the city of Art and flowers" where we stayed with a friend of Mary's who has an amazing house. Now we are in Bologna, so I will post what we have seen here tomorrow! Buonserra!

So excited for my two wonderful students Alison Eyth and Claire Nestor, plus my beautiful younger cousin Cousin Nicole Coviello, who all cleaned up this weekend at different venues! Alison won her Novice division at Five points horse trials, Claire was second in her Beginner Novice division there which was her first recognized horse trials, and my cousin Nicole finished second out of 40 in her non-pro hunter derby class at Tryon equestrian center! awesome sauce and well-deserved because they all worked really hard for it! đŸ’•đŸ’•đŸŽđŸŽđŸŒ·đŸŒ·

Well it's been a super busy last few months for me here. My ottb Obi-1" and I have had some fun pursuing our eventing goals which included an outing at Novice at Stable View back in June, and then more recently at Windridge HT's 3 weekends ago where he placed 5th in the Novice A division. At Stable View we went cross country schooling right before the event. He schooled fab, but threw a front shoe with a pour in pad on it, and although I had an extra set of shoes with me and got it tacked on in time for dressage (and he jogged/felt sound) he did not have the pour in on and it was harder to keep him up and steady in connection so our dressage score was disappointing. He also came out of the box very looky and we had time penalties, otherwise clear, but I was super happy with how he ended the course and his SJ round there.
The week of Aug. 15th I attended a "r" dressage judge's training session in Saugerties, NY. with a great group of participants from all over the country, and awesome instructor in Natalie Lamping (middle pics here), there was some pressure involved but it was a valuable learning opportunity and now I have more work to do!
The last two pics are of Obi and I and my awesome student and friend Alison Eyth and Chloe who placed 3rd in their Novice division as well. They were tired fuzzies but I have to say that Obi was just great there, jumped great in SJ as he never looked at anything and I could stay in my gallop position for most of the xc course with just some nice balancing moments and no time penalties!!

Rio Landa and I had a pretty damp but mostly successful weekend at the MayDay Dressage run by show last weekend with Rio earning the AA high score award with her Hanoverian gelding "Dushay", getting her first Q score for regionals and winning one of her 2nd level classes on her first attempt at the level. Melissa Johnson's "Belissimo Volto" and I also earned 2 qualifying scores at 4th level with several areas that we can continue to bring our score up. I also had the privilege of showing Amber Zaratsian's nice Friesian cross mare "Flurry's Jetta" who on the first day really thought the extra vehicles behind the judge and then the tent might eat her, but the 2nd day sorted it out to win her 2nd lvl class. Thanks to Kay Whitlock and Bo Belton for their excellent show management and for outfitting all three of our mounts, and for keeping them on track!

A great time was had by all at the this past weekend at the by our Victory Hill Farm teamđŸ’•đŸ’«! Thank you so much to Sarah Crevar Thomas, Margaret Crevar and Mark Donovan and the rest of the organizing committee there for doing a great job as always, and big congrats to Alison Eyth and Bella Chloe for winning the Novice division B, Jadyn Lee and Apollo for winning their Starter combined test, Claire Nestor and Jaxon for finishing 4th in Jr. Beginner Novice, Catherine Paschal and Riptide for completing their first Starter Horse Trials, Alex Anderson and newly minted “event pony” Wishbone for her 6th place in her first Green as Grass HTs., and finally several pats to my horse Obi-1 for his 5th place in the Novice division A. I was very happy that he actually came out of the box and felt like he knew his job which was fun, covered ground well with no deviations in stadium, and only did a few tiny crow hops instead of doing a full on helicopter imitation on his way by the judge’s vehicle in dressage 😂 . Special thanks to the moms and dads who were invaluable support onsite: Natalie Sheier, Kristin Lee, Richard Paschal, and Dr. Chad Anderson. Thanks also go to Lisa Kim, Hannah McDiarmid, Shelly Ives, and Sarah Sievers who helped get everyone out to where they needed to go, stay hydrated and extra moral support, plus special thanks to Brie Tiffany for her help over show jumps, and the rest of our helpers at and riders at home (Alyssa Davis, Ren Spake, and Reese Earle) without which this would not be possible!

I am very proud and pleased to share that both of my long-time students Alison Eyth and Melissa Johnson achieved their final scores to earn their USDF Bronze medals this weekend at the March Magic Show on 4/2-4/3/23! Alison was riding her lovely Clydesdale/TB cross mare “Bella Chloe”, and Melissa was riding her super gelding “Belissimo Volto”. This is actually the 2nd horse that Melissa has had here at VHF, the first was her chestnut mare “Salsa Roja” who helped her achieve her scores at 1st level and gave her mileage at 2nd level, then Volto who she purchased as a 5 yr. old from , who gave her more education as he progressed and is now on his way to becoming a “schoolmaster”. Both of these women have dedicated many long hours to their equestrian education, as well as being true, kind, and caring horsewomen and Melissa was also very pleased to secure this accomplishment before her upcoming 70th birthday🌠💕. Wahoo and Congrats to you both!!!
Many thanks also to for helping these ladies stay balanced and their horses comfortable!

Felt good (but a chilly start) today to get out and start our season at the Carolina Horse Park Pipe Opener II with these three nice ladies (lft-rt) Claire Nestor, Alison Eyth, and Jadyn Lee. Claire and Alison in BN and Jadyn in Starter. Alison also practiced her 3rd-1 test. Well done all! Obi-1 and I also got out there for an 8:12 ride when it was still 30 degrees and finished 7th in our BN division. He was feeling pretty frisky so I was pretty happy he stayed in the ring with me!

Very pleased to say that Catherine Paschal (age 12) and Riptide VHF (age 7) completed their first horse trials together at the green as grass level during the War Horse Event Series 6/12/22 at Carolina Horse Park:)

Lft-Rt: Amber Zaratsian, Rio Landa, Elizabeth Moore, Alison Eyth on Queen Chloe This year’s show was quite blustery and we all got a bit windburned and wore multiple layers all weekend. Huge congrats to my students Rio Landa for winning both the Championships at Training and First level AA divisions and Alison Eyth for being the Reserve Champ in the 2nd level AA division on her recently purchased from Blake Atherton “Queen Chlo Chlo” !...

Obi-1 and I had a blast last weekend at Windridge HT’s in Mooresboro, NC. Beautiful courses and nice people too. Also enjoyed going XC in my Monte Carlo mono-flap saddle that I bought nicely broken in from Andrea Chisholm in So Pines. I had been searching for something all season and gone thru 3 other saddles (of different brands) to both fit my boy and help my leg position be more secure, and I am in love. Thank you Andrea and Becky Blikslager at Custom for pointing me to it!! Also thank you to my new friend for taking this picture, it was nice being stabled by you.

It may not be Tokyo (yet:), but ‘s new 5 yr. TB gelding “Willing Hero” got a warm welcome from some of his new support system here at VHF on Sun PM! Thanks to lft-rt for coming out to greet him: Alexis Matthews, Sarah Sievers, Charlotte and Hero, Alison Eyth, and my husband John Moore and our resident farm dog Chief🐕. Thanks also go to Shannon for showing him to us and taking such good care of him the last two months before he traveled, and huge congrats to CharlotteđŸ„‚. More pics as they get acquainted....

So happy to have found this lovely 5 yr TB mare for Tess Orvis! Her jockey club name is “Sweet Harbor Gold”, but we call her Gemma. She is coming along quite nicely since we got her in Aiken a couple of months ago from Shannon Riley Congrats Tess and thank you Shannon!

I don’t have any other pics yet but “Obi-1” was absolutely super over fences this time out and I had fun this last weekend at Stable View and met some really nice people too. Thanks to all my helpers back at the farm: Alyssa Davis, Liz Mauney, Miley Fields, and Alexis Matthews, patient students, husband John Moore, and sponsors for allowing me to get back into competing in this part of the sport that I love!

My social media manager (me) has been lying down on the job for several months now, but we have been very busy here. I am now attempting to catch up with some of the happenings here at the farm, apologies as it may be out of order!
Huge congrats to Michelle Nobrega-Lee and her trainer Jared Beasley on her purchase of "London" in the earlier part of this year from Charlotte Holt! Here are some pics and video Michelle sent recently, apparently they finished 4th in their 1st HT together:)
