1) Help Find Sophie was first created to Help Find "Sophie", a lost boxer, on March 12, 2012. She was found six days later thanks to all the animal lovers out there by helping to spread the word that she was missing. Unfortunately, the owners didn't get the news they wanted to hear, but they did get closure. They were extremely blessed by all the supporting strangers that all came together to help them in their search. So with that, many asked me to keep the HFS page up and keep helping other pets and their owners, so I did. The HFS page stayed with this name and in remembrance of Sophie because of her this page was created as we bought the community together creating the HFS Team. Sophie died but left behind a legacy and even though, she is gone, she will never be forgotten. HFS now offers a support group for pet lovers so if they are ever in this situation, they know they can turn to HFS for help. Our slogan..."I cant do Everything but I can do Something AND Together we can make a difference in the life of a Pet". HFS is here to continue to make a change in the community by Reuniting....one at a time.
2) HFS Rehoming Pets for Lancaster County Pa was created July 25, 2014. UNFORTUNATELY a family situation changes and they need to find a new home for their family pet. HFS does not judge and DO NOT want any rude and hurtful comments made on the page. A shelter is no place to drop off your family member so HFS is here to make an easier adjustment for those that fall into a situation of change with less stress on the family and the pet needing to find a new home as they go from home to home. The family can keep in touch with the "new" family and ease the adjustment of rehoming a family member. The new family that is looking to rehome a pet in need gets to be in direct contact with the family and gets to learn a lot about their pet and have a great background and understanding of the pets needs, behavior, etc. HFS Rehoming Pets is here to continue to make a change in the community by Rehoming....one at a time.
There are NO FEES to Rehome on our page but there is a process to help find amazing homes and it is working out great. It isn't a first sent profile the first family that gets to rehome the pet. The profiles get sent into HFS and then they get sent to the family to review. ***The family gets to PICK who they want their family pet to go to and can ask to stay in contact with the new family via facebook/email if they want to, so they are the decision maker on who gets the first meet n greet phone call. If that doesn't work out, they will move onto the next family profiles. Many pets have been rehomed over the years and have some awesome success stories to share and the process goes nice and smooth and end up with 2 very happy families in the end. It is never forever if you have to give up your pet!
3) The HFS (lost and found) page and the HFS Rehoming Pets for Lancaster County page has had great success over the past years. Help Find Sophie provides a service for the community and many can see just how important this service is for Lancaster County. Our proof is in the number of reunions and rehoming stories we have helped with over the years. Thousands of pets have returned back home to their families and many of these wouldn't have made it back home if it wasn't for what we do 7 days a week/365 days a year. There are many HFS Reunion Stories and many HFS Rehoming Stories posted in our HFS Albums from over the years under the Photo Section on each page.
4) We work hand and hand with many police departments, vet offices, dog wardens, other organizations and businesses, and our followers. It is amazing to see how much good comes out of a community when everyone works together! When some of the above places post on their pages of missing or found pets, we will share that information as well (they put up their post and ask people to share and HFS is NO different than anyone else sharing except when we share, we have over 18K followers so word gets out to many by making 1 single post) or some of these above places will DIRECTLY send a private message, email, or even text us information asking us for our help to get the word out.
The way we post on our page, is the way we post. We ask for people to send us a message or email so we can help them get reunited with their missing pet or found pet. We DO NOT require a donation when we help other organizations either when helping them reunite (more Fake News!). Why do we do it this way? some want to call it "stealing" … seriously folks, stealing a picture and info after they want help in locating a pet??? They want to get the pet back home as much as we do. HFS puts our contact information on the post so if the owner has questions, if they cant reach out to the police depart, vets office, etc because they can be busy doing police things or a vets office could be closed.
We are here from sun up to sun down plus some and can answer any questions they have, assist them in contacting the police because sometimes the number they post on their page is not working after hours and the owner needs to call the main dispatch police number and in a lot of their posts, they do not put that # (some do and some don't). We also help to make sure right owner for right pet before they also take up the police time so they can keep doing police stuff. By posting our contact information on our page on our post has NOTHING to do with stealing. It is all about helping the community to reunite and looking into the best interest of everyone involved. I also post information on the post where the info came from so they can reach out directly to the place that has the pet but they can also reach out to HFS if there is a problem that arises. It isn't that hard to understand but again, some have some issues with our posts and how we posts stuff. No worries though, the police and many organizations greatly appreciate everything we do to help them help get their strays back home so many don't have to keep babysitting the pet in their care. Pretty easy to understand....
📌 The BIG Picture here is to Share, Share, Share to Help and the MORE people to receive information on a found pet or on a missing pet, THE BETTER! Well, most of you get the picture. HFS is here to Help the Community we serve. Many appreciate us being here, many use our services, and many will tell others about us as well. SHOUT OUT to all those that are part of the HFS Team... it all comes back to working together and looking into the best interest of a pet owner and their pet.
5) So with the great success rate and the Lancaster County Community wanting HFS to continue, we took it to the next level. On June 2, 2017, Help Find Sophie became a 501c3 Non-Profit Organization. With our purpose being... "This organization seeks a more humane compassionate approach to help meet the needs of pets by promoting reuniting and rehoming, trying to keep them out of the shelter which creates less stress and less chance of illness and death, the best way to save a pet's life! The means of providing this approach includes, but not limited to, creating a network of animal lovers whose passion is giving animals a voice through the use of social media and embracing, educating, and empowering the local community by touching lives and warming hearts"
6) 📌To help Clear Up the Misinformation that is out there, HFS does NOT ask for donations to put a post up on our page nor ask for donations when making a reunion or when we rehome a pet but donations are appreciated to keep our Non-Profit Organization up and running so we are able to continue to provide our services to the Lancaster County Community. So HFS provides a FREE Service. It is put on our posts now so people can see what is being said is not the truth. To stop people from turning owners away from sending HFS a message, posting this here to clear up what owners might hear. Spreading Lies and Untruths is only hurting pet owners. The more people sharing and caring, the better chance of a pet getting reunited or rehomed. We are only trying to HELP the Community and Defamation is only HURTING the Community.
So Proceed With Caution ⚠️... Think before you spread stuff and go to the source before you post stuff to see if what you heard or saw is what is REAL (or you might be included in part of a lawsuit)
This is what you will see on our posts...HFS is a 501c3 Non-Profit Organization who provides a FREE Service to help reunite and rehome pets in Lancaster County PA since 2012. Donations are appreciated but not required so we can continue to provide our services to others. Our Paypal direct link is >paypal.me/HelpFindSophie
7) 📌 The way we post our information on our posts and the way we handle our page is the way we do things. We have learned a lot in the past 7 years and it is best to keep personal/private information of owners and finders off of our page for many reasons and it is working great! People love that we respect their privacy and we handle it for them. We do provide a fast and reliable service for the community.
8) We have a Website: www.helpfindsophie.org
9) We have an Email: [email protected]
10) The "checkmark" next to our name on our main HFS page means we are a "verified" Non-Profit.
11) Our HFS Main page is https://www.facebook.com/HelpFindSophie/ for lost and found pets
12) Our HFS Rehoming Page is https://www.facebook.com/HFSRehomingPets/.
13) Please make sure you "like" both of our pages and set your notifications to "See First" so you don't miss out on helping pets get back home or a chance to rehome a pet in need. I know many don't see all the posts that go up because of the way facebook is changing. To ensure you get to see as many posts as you can in your newsfeed, make sure you go into your Notifications and set it to "SEE FIRST". Plus the more comments you make on a post, the better chance of facebook seeing that you are an active member and send the posts to you. SO when in doubt, just say "shared", "happy news", "👍", "❤️", "🥰", etc in the posts comment section.
14) Help Find Sophie is a Non-Profit 501(c)(3) Organization providing a service for Lancaster County pets and their owners to help the community by giving them some helpful tips and posting on our page to try to locate or rehome their pet.
