Did you know Shaggy Paws is a member of the VPPGA?
( Virginia Professional Pet Grooming Association)

Which means we have vowed to abide by a code of ethics set forth by the vppga.

We also follow STANDARDS OF CARE, SAFETY, AND SANITATION guidelines set by the PPGSA..

But what does this mean for our clients, and why should they care?

Pets grooming is an UNREGULATED industry that does NOT require licensing. 😱😱😱
That means ANYONE can pick up a pair of clippers, a bottle of shampoo and call themselves a PROFESSIONAL PET GROOMER 😭
With 30+ years combined experience (between Tiffany and Ashley) this is heartwrenching to us. To know there are people out there who are uneducated in all the aspects of pet care that are caring for your pets, it's SCARY. Now most people know the basics of pet care. As many people do own pets. BUT is your pet in the care of someone that is education and continuing their education on -

- pet safety
- proper Sanitation and disinfection
- canine anatomy
- the STATE LAWS regarding pet housing
- the science behind products being used
- proper skin and coat care
- first aid care
- proper techniques of handling
(puppies, adolescent, adult & senior pets all required different methods of handling)
- knowledge of pet body language
- ability to read your pets energy to ensure a positive experience.
- up to date styles (the very MINIMUM of being a PetStylist)

At Shaggy Paws, you can ALWAYS depend on us to have your pets best interest at heart. ALL of our equipment is state of the art and is up to date with current safety standards. Even though we have many, many years of knowledge and experience, we vow to learn more everyday. All of the products we use are THE ABSOLUTE BEST. Have a question about a product we use? Ask Tiffany, she has researched EVERYTHING, every ingredient, how they work, and WHY they work. Your pets health and safety are our TOP PRIORITY. We will never force your pet to do anything that risks their well-being. That means we will NEVER pin your dog down and make it do something that it is uncomfortable with. If we feel your pet would do better at a different facility, we always tell you and give recommendations. We are not in this industry to make "a quick buck" we are in this industry because we have a passion for what we do. We want to build longlasting relationships with your pets. We want your pet to look good when it leaves our facility but we also want it to feel good and have a positive experience everytime it is in our care.

If at anytime you need any reassurance, please reach out.. Tiffany will ALWAYS make time to make you feel confident and comfortable with leaving your pet in our care! Also, anytime you want to tour our facilities, just ask! We will allow it! We will show you our equipment, our tools, our tubs and kennels, ect.

Do you know all the services we offer?

Basic bath package includes-

*Bath with a basic shampoo.
*Hand Blow dry
*Ear cleaning / plucking (if needed)
*A**l gland expression (externally)
*Nail trim
*Quick brush out.

-If your pet is double coated and shedding excessively we also offer a de-shedding package to be added onto a basic bath.
-We also offer Tidy-Up package! Your pet doesn't need a full haircut, just trimmed around the eyes, feet, and sanitary areas, a good bath, and nail trim? Then make sure to ask for a Tidy-Up when booking your pets bath appointment.

All haircut packaged include everything listed for a basic bath and including a *haircut/style to your preference. Our groomers have many years under their belt working with many different breeds. Not sure what kind of haircut you want your pet to have? Thats ok! we can help you decide.. Or do you want something specific, but dont know how to explain it? Thats fine too! Bring in a picture of what you want and we can let you know what we can do!

We have many upgrades as well.
Numerous shampoo options to suit your pets needs, conditioners, nail filing, teeth gel ect. Not sure what shampoo to use on your pet? We will offer recommendations that are perfect for your pets skin and coat!

We also have 2 canine estheticians on-site for any skin care concerns for your pet ☺️ Does your pet have itchy skin? Seasonal or Enviromental allergies? Hotspots, ye**ty skin build up? Ask for a consult with one of our estheticians (Tiffany or Ashley) and we can help set up a treatment plan to get your pet feeling like their best self!

Anytime you would like to tour our facility, just ask! We would love to show you around! Just beware of the wet floors and hair on the floor 🤣
