Hildi wanted in when everyone else wanted out 😆
Chilly autumn mornings means scrambled eggs & sardines for breakfast. Not for me! 🤢 For the chickens! Only the best for them means only the healthiest eggs for you!
Baby chicks are just the cutest! They follow so well. 🥰 These 3 are Cuckoo Polish.

The chicken yard and garden are so magical to me. Regardless of the time of day, nature is beautiful.
Hot days 🥵 mean worms in the baby pool! The flock is free ranging again today since they know best about keeping themselves cool in this heatwave. 🌡🔥
Not even 9a and the real temp is 85° with 80% humidity, making it feel like 97°. The flock is free ranging today. They know best where and how to keep cool. Hopefully predators save their energy today 🤞🍀🙏 and don't want my chickens.
Yesterday, my husband put the piles of fresh cut grass in the chicken yard. They love scratching through and finding bugs!
Fritz would like everyone to acknowledge what a handsome, good boi he is. 😆 Happy dance.
I'm late working in my garden this year, but wanted to do what I can before the 🌡🥵 this week. Marna (Mystic Maran) & Haley (Golden Comet) decided to help.
This is Dollie, a Silver Wyandotte. She loves being near me, but does not like me to touch her. She believes in the importance of boundaries!
Little Molly is queen of the hill. She is small but sassy. Molly is a frizzle and has poor quality feathers, so she wears her little RealTree(TM) pink camo dress.
This is why we're called CFC. There's a creek that runs on both sides of the chicken yard. There's always a rooster crowing. 🐓
I've been out of town and the chookies are upset they haven't been out in a couple days. Here they're scratching through some fresh cut grass.
The chickens love the creek on these hot 🥵 days, even though it's almost dry.
Here in our area of Illinois, we went from the 50°s to the 90°s. 🔥🌡 In hot temperatures like this, we put out ice water filled with frozen veggies (peas, carrots) and mealworms to increase hydration. It's also important it's shallow enough for the birds to stand in.
Happy Mothers Day 💐 to all types of mommas!
Here is Auntie Molly (white frizzle) with the adoptive chick of Surrey (yellow bantam). Molly helps to raise chick. In this video, Molly gives chick her first worm! Molly sleeps with the chickens, giving Surrey some much needed sleep. The chicks biological mom is Marna (Maran).
Hens will often raise the chicks of other hens. They'll raise them together, too. Molly here doesn't have a chick of her own, so she helps Surrey.
This Calendula flower has been infusing in Coconut & Avocado oil since 2/28. I like to let mine sit about 8 weeks if possible.
.
❓️Did you know? Calendula is packed with antioxidants, is anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial! Calendula oil can be used to soothe skin (I love it when my eczema flares), help with wrinkles, and prevent scarring. It can be used on wounds and rashes, even diaper rash!

So relaxing.

Each time I clean the creek of debris & leaves, the chickens kick more in. 🙄
