Through the 20 years I have been rescuing I have had the pleasure of meeting the most amazing people. Often those that we meet are through special gentleman like Thunder.

Thunder is roughly 42 years old and when he came to the rescue a few years back he had a difficult adjusting to living with horses :). He became ill and we were told he was in kidney failure and he would pass....he did not, 3 years later and he came back strong!
One week ago, he choked, not on common for horses with no teeth. he didn't bounce back so well an the frigid temperatures have made the recovery very difficult.

Upon returning from a business trip Thunder began eating and drinking however this morning he spoke to me with his eyes and I listened. We will say goodbye to our gentleman Thunder and allow him to join our friends in heaven. RIP Thunder we love and will miss you greatly

Please keep this gentleman in your prayers. He's reached an amazing age of 42 years old however he's not feeling well. Hand feeding at this point but finally drinking alot
It's going to be a brutal week and this guy could use some help ❤️ 😍

Tranquil Acres is partnering with OhioRV! The farm will be listed a a rescue farm that allows RV'ers the opportunity to stop, relax and enjoy the animals while passing through Ohio!

The last couple of years the farm has sponsored many programs for the Lorain County Fair.

This year I received this well written letter that only confirms how important it is to help or youth

We are happy to announce we are partnering with Huron County Job and Family services in January and offering a young adult an opportunity to work and learn a trade. These programs are offered to young adults with special needs and our new family member will begin January 13, 2025!

The vet evaluated our Nelly girl and believes it is not a UTI. The amount of blood were seeing from this morning and a few other spots leads to a mass.

Nelly like most donkeys are very resilient and does not appear in pain but her heart rate is 119 and tells us otherwise. She was given antibiotics and a shot for pain. If this is a mass and the bleeding continues, we will make the appropriate decision for our Nelly who has protected this herd for 12+ years.

We owe her a life of quality and that she deserves. Please keep her in your prayers

Some exciting updates from the farm:

We are preparing for winter already! Made a make shift stall for Sid and Nelly to bed down on mats and bedding but they are thrilled to have the run of the barn once again!

Entry gates are being quoted and hopefully installed in the next two weeks. These will help keep the animals safe as our new location there seems to be no speed limit on this road! we will advise the key code to all volunteers and visitors once complete

The new electric line is complete and we greatly appreciated not receiving any grief for digging our OUR property. The Manure pit dig will also happen this week so YES there will be equipment here for improvements again :)

Truck or Treat is October 26th tell your friends and bring your trunk!

We also would like to inform all of those that are curious and asking .....YES YES the septic to this property is up to date. Those that do not understand the buying process the county mandates inspection prior to purchase and all was up to code! So rest easy we are all good here on Butler road.

The county paid a visit also regarding the drainage and tile on this property and that too all will be glad to know is in good condition. It is at our discretion to fix any tile that needs replaced and get this....the neighbors because they plum into it can also pay for any repairs they are worried about! How nice is that??

Tranquil Acres is functioning as normal and the horses absolutely love their new surroundings and in time the neighborhood will begin to understand our mission and hopefully support!

Thanks to Mr winter coming a bit early.... we needed to make some changes so everyone was out of the weather.

Sid and Nelly once again have full access to the barn and freedom to roam. This means all doors and locks must be secured for their safety until the gated entrance is installed. There are chains on gates that must stay locked.

We appreciate everyone keeping the horses safe!

Today is exciting! We've got two new families from this area visiting the farm!
Later on this morning there will be lots of action were digging the pit for the manure pile and setting the large bricks.
We are also trenching to upgrade the electric line from the main building so horses can have heated buckets for winter!
Don't forget about the Trunk or Treat on October 26th! Look forward to meeting new families!
