All About the Dogs Rescue

All About the Dogs Rescue AATDR is an approved 501(c)(3) public charity, dedicated to rescuing and finding new homes for dogs. All dogs are fully vaccinated. We don't have a shelter.

We rescue dogs from high kill shelters who are in danger of euthanasia, and dogs from families who can no longer care for them. All of our dogs go to our vet for an exam, and we test for heartworm and tick-related illnesses as well as testing for intestinal parasites. If there is a medical issue, the dog is treated and the issue resolved before being adopted. All of our dogs live with foster famil

ies. There they learn good manners living in a home, so that when they're adopted they're all set to fit right in with their new family. We are an approved 501(c)(3) public charity. As such, your donations are tax deductible. We are looking for foster families! If you would like to foster a dog, please private message this page or email [email protected] and we will send you an application. We'd love to get to know you, so please don't hesitate to email us or message this page and introduce yourself! All of these dogs need homes! A few will need to be foster-to-adopt placements, and the rest are all set for forever homes. If you live in CT and would like to welcome one of us home, please fill out an online application: https://www.allaboutthedogsrescue.org/get-involved

Most of them like other dogs and would be happy to live with children of various ages. Some could even live with cats!

For more information, please message the rescue on Facebook or email [email protected]

We still haven't found a foster for this boy! He's a gorgeous little guy is said to be a samoyed/corgi mix (!), about 1-2 years old, and loves everyone. He has been happy walking by other dogs in the kennel. We expect he would be fine with another dog of similar size (he's about 35 lbs) and energy level (he's a playful, active boy). If we can find a foster for him, we can pull him. He's in a local CT pound. If you have already applied with us and would like to foster him, please private message us. If you'd like to foster and haven't yet applied, please fill out an application online: https://www.allaboutthedogsrescue.org/get-involved

Zeus went to the vet today. He had his vaccines and needs to go back in 3 weeks for boosters. He also will have bloodwork done then, as he wasn't a big fan of being at the vet today. šŸ™„The cost of today's visit was $230. We estimate the cost of the appointment in 3 weeks will be $200. Donations towards the cost of his care will be deeply appreciated. You can use one of the following links or the Facebook button on this post:

Zeus is cryptorchid (one testicle is undescended). It couldn't be located today which means it's likely in his abdomen - which unfortunately means he will have exploratory surgery to locate it, instead of a simple neuter surgery. It is not only more expensive surgery, but is also bigger surgery.

The good news is that Zeus is doing GREAT in his foster home! Slow introductions between dogs makes such a difference. He and his foster sister are seen here relaxing together on the porch. She apparently has come to terms with having a canine brother! 🄰

Zeus is an adorable, friendly, loveable boy and we're so happy we were able to help him, thanks to a wonderful foster family saying "yes" to fostering!

Zeus is heading for the vet tomorrow afternoon. He'll have all his vaccines and bloodwork, and the vet will see if they can locate both testicles - he's cryptorchid, which means one of his testicles is undescended. Then we'll be scheduling his neuter asap. We anticipate the vet visit tomorrow will cost about $450 - more if they need x-rays to locate his testicle. Please give what you can to help with the costs. Due to unavoidable, unforeseen circumstances (no one's fault, just a scheduling snafu), we will be giving these two boys their freedom ride on Saturday rather than today! Although we're sad about the delay, we are so thankful we'll be able to help! Stay tuned for freedom pictures on Saturday! We still need pledges for their care! Please comment on this post with the amount you're able to give. We'll let you know when they're technically AATDR dogs and how to turn your pledges into donations. Thank you for your support and help!

We're drowning! Please give the cost of your morning trip through the drive-through to help us cover medical costs for our dogs. We have NO reserves! We have NO emergency medical fund! Please HELP! You can donate using one of the following links, or the donation button on this post:

We have Ronnie and Ozzie coming into the rescue tomorrow who need to see the vet prior to going to a home. We have Zeus seeing the vet on Wednesday for exam and vaccines. While we cannot accept donations for Ronnie and Ozzie until they are technically in the rescue, donations from our general fund can be applied to their care.

Right now, we are broke. Right now, we have dug as deep into our own personal pockets as possible – there’s literally nothing left in those pockets. Right now, donations have come to a screeching halt. And, right now, we still have dogs needing medical care, dogs who need special food, dogs in boarding, dogs ready for adoption who have been waiting in foster a very long time to find their families. And, as always, we wait for the other ā€œshoe to dropā€ with the inevitable medical emergency.

With over 6,000 followers to our page, if each person gave only $5, we would be able to meet all of our expenses and go on and help more dogs in need, during the current . Heck, we could do that if only ½ of you gave $5!

We’re not asking you to give a lot – we know that large donations become harder as the economic landscape becomes more uncertain. $5, or $10 is all we’re asking (of course we’ll be eternally grateful if you can give more). If you’re able to make your donation monthly, it means there’s an income we can count on. If you can only make a one-time donation, we will be so thankful, as well.

Some of the dogs needing help are pictured in this post.

Ronnie and Ozzie are the two dogs coming in on Tuesday. They will need at minimum intake exam, vaccines, and 4dx test - estimated cost $750. Additionally, Ozzie has a massive tumor on his foot that will need to be diagnosed and treated. He likely will have a needle biopsy done on Tuesday to start the diagnostic process - estimated cost another $300, so we will need $1050 for their visit on Tuesday.

Zeus goes to the vet on Wednesday for his intake exam, vaccines and tests. The only vaccine he had at intake was rabies. He will need the rest. Plus he is cryptorchid (one testicle is undescended), so the vet will need to locate that testicle if possible, which may necessitate x-rays. We expect the visit on Wednesday to cost about $600, and his neuter surgery, going forward, is likely to cost at least $800 because the surgery for a cryptorchid dog is much more major than an average neuter.

Chance needs heartworm treatment - estimated cost $1500. He was hospitalized twice in two weeks for a respiratory illness at a cost of about $1,000. He’s a dog who was found roaming in horrible shape. He was treated for a serious skin infection and an equally serious double ear infection. He’s been neutered. Heartworm treatment is his last step before he is ready to find a fabulous forever home. Despite all the challenges he’s faced, he’s a loving, happy, friendly, wonderful dog!

Moe has been suffering from chronic hepatitis – a liver biopsy cost about $3,000, and medications and special food costs about $600/month. He’s a senior boy about 10 years old who spent most of his life living in the yard and in the garage, until he was surrendered to our rescue. His follow-up bloodwork was GREAT! In order to keep it that way he needs to continue on the medications and special food.

Barb has a grade 5 heart murmur and early kidney disease – an echocardiogram cost about $1500 and medications and special food costs about $400/month. She will remain in rescue for the rest of her life, being dearly loved (and just possibly a little spoiled 😊 ).

Pepper is dealing with skin allergies and an ulcer on her cornea – so far, her vet visits, tests, and medications have cost about $900. She was about to be euthanized, and we just couldn’t let that happen. It took her about a day out of the shelter to relax and stop being scared, and then she showed us what a wonderful dog she is. She’s looking for a CT foster or forever family. At about 8 years old, she’s ready to relax and enjoy her retirement!

Sasha broke out of her crate during a thunderstorm and hurt her ear, resulting in an aural hematoma. The cost for the vet visit and procedure to take care of it was about $500. We were asked to back her when she’d been with one foster for about a year without finding a family. She was headed back to a shelter where she would have been euthanized, and we couldn’t let that happen. She’s about 8 years old and is a sweet, loving, absolutely wonderful dog who deserves the best forever home ever!

The list could go on, but you get the idea, we’re sure.

Please donate today. If you’d like your donation to go to help a specific dog, just message us and let us know when you make your donation. If you donate to our general fund, it will go to the dog who needs it the most. Either way, you will be a dog’s hero and such an urgent and important part of our rescue efforts!

This boy loves people, loves dogs, and is great with children. He's living with two-year-old twins and is wonderful with them.

He's a senior at 10 years old but still has lots of pep - and he's a very smart boy. He'll do well in a home where people are around much of the time. He'd like an active family who can exercise both his body and his brain.

He has been dealing with hepatitis - the GREAT news is that his most recent blood tests were completely normal! So now he's all set to find a family of his very own.
