Just a heads up that we will not be packing a Growing Local Box this week.

Our team is observing the Federal holiday on Thursday and enjoying a day of rest on Friday. We’ll have three more weeks of boxes in July before we go on our programming break in August so stay tuned for more!

Do you know about Juneteenth? It is a U.S. federal holiday on June 19th, nationally recognized since just 2021, though celebrated widely for generations by many people. It commemorates the emancipation of enslaved people in the U.S. The holiday was first celebrated in Texas, where on that date in 1865, in the aftermath of the Civil War, enslaved people were informed that they were legally free under the terms of the 1862 Emancipation Proclamation.

Happy Monday evening fam! We hope you’ll join us, , and this upcoming Saturday at their urban farm in New Orleans East where they’ll be teaching a class about growing, harvesting, and preparing loofahs! If you’ve ever grown these you know it loves the Louisiana summer heat. 

This workshop is FREE and everyone will go home with some seeds! Link is up in our bio to sign up. A frat chance to visit their space then after, we encourage you to go out to lunch and support the restaurants and businesses in the East. We’ll have some recommendations on places to go too 😄🍽️

A great harvest day haul! Kale, lettuce, Swiss chard, and fresh dill and parsley. We've got a couple more weeks of kale and lettuce before we swap them out for some heat loving plants. Extras went to our fridge!

If you missed ordering our boxes this week please try again next week! We are hoping to make more available each week in the very near future. Link opens up on Monday and close til we sell out of the 40. We’ve been selling out every week lately - we so appreciate the support of this program and of our farmer friends who contribute to the fresh food! We love bringing fresh, affordable, local food into our community 💚
