Although we can't host gardening classes in person, we are excited to post clips on our Facebook and Instagram of Michael's progress on the garden and farm! Here he is talking about the importance of worms in gardening.

.
Summary of the video:
* We purchased worms from Uncle Jim's Worm Farm, a package of 2,000 worms that arrived in about a week. Worms will look dehydrated from the week of travel in peat moss.
* We put a few hundred worms in each garden box, 8'x3'x3'. Loosen 10 square inches of soil and place the worms in the loosened space. Lightly water your bed after putting in the worms, since they are dehydrated.
* Worms are essential to having a prolific garden - they help to aerate the soil and create channels for water to get down to the roots. Also, they break down organic matter into nutrients that are readily accessible for the plants.
* Worm populations are managed by the size of their space and amount of food available - you don't have to do anything!
