Courtesy Post! (Please message me and I will put you in touch with owner. I will also help vet anyone with our applications) ❤️ Also! This kind lady needs a bit of help with dog food. Please message me if you would like to donate to that! Thank you!
Lolah
2-ish years old, around 60lbs
Spayed, microchipped, up to date rabies. Her vet care has been at Low-Cost Medical Center on Washington Avenue in NOLA.
I am entirely too wordy and I'm sorry. I just want to give as much information as possible.
Lolah is a 2-ish year old female unknown breed, a lot of people say that she is a pit, lab mix, some say she has Weimaraner in her, I'm not sure. The vet said she for sure has lab in her. What I do know: she's a beautiful dog!
Lolah has been spayed, is current on her rabies, and tested negative for heartworms.
If you have a backyard she can run around in, have time to throw a ball, play tug of war with her favorite rope toy, spend time reinforcing the basic commands we taught her…and of course giving her a treat when she’s been a good girl. You might be a great fit for her!
Yes, this is lengthy, but I want to include all the details about her. I would want the same if I was adopting a dog.
Background:
•We found her with no food, no water, chained to a fence in the blazing sun July 4, 2023. We treated her like one of our own, as I do with any animal I rescue. I thought we found her a good home and off she went to Pennsylvania in September 2023. Her days in the northeast were short lived and she returned to us in December. She was not a good fit for them. They left her in a small kennel, alone, in the basement. She was neglected (to say the least) and when I learned of this, I welcomed her back because it was best for her, she deserved to be treated better than she had been. So, although I didn’t have space for another dog, I wasn’t going to turn her away.
•We think she's about 2 years old - vet estimate
•She doesn’t shed much at all! I never notice her fur around the house or on my clothes.
Behavior:
•She's a lot to handle sometimes, still lots of puppy energy!! With proper discipline and attention, I think she'll chill out a bit. She’s not a bad dog, just kind of a bull in a China shop vibe about her sometimes. She doesn't realize how big and solid she is when she jumps up to greet people!
•Tons of energy! Needs a backyard to run around in! Loves to play with toys, pull the stuffing out of plush toys (just a head up!). She’s a fan of most toys!
•Knows basic commands.
•Has been around children and did well. Never aggressive towards children or adults.
•She plays well with dogs of all sizes but can get a bit rough (not all the time, just when she gets a bit excited while playing) with smaller dogs. Same goes for cats. I believe she would do best with dogs similar to her size, that's been our experience here at home. She's even played nicely with a baby goat!
Crate/Kennel:
•She sleeps in her crate at night, she knows that’s where she goes, when I say “Lolah, crate, kennel, come on…”, she walks herself in when it’s bedtime. She also goes in when we are not home.
•Since she has a history of chewing up dog beds, she gets blankets to lay on. I became tired of wasting money on dog beds. You’re welcome to try proper beds again, I got tired of seeing my money ripped apart. She likes to eat stuffing out of toys, and the same applies to beds!
•Kennel/crate will come with her and her blanket as well. Same with some toys and food that she’s been eating as to not upset her tummy if she is going to transition to another type. She currently eats Whole Hearted Grain Free Chicken & Pea dry food (PetCo's brand of food).
