Meadows in the Greenway
What a wild time it’s been working on this project. Terence Jackson, the farm outreach coordinator at Sprout, has been working on establishing the Meadows in the Lafitte Greenway since this Spring 2022. We started by planting cover crops (Sunflowers and Sunhemp) to create a thick mulch to plant the native flowers into. This took many tries as we went through a major drought. Nevertheless the cover crops came up and were beautiful. We terminated the cover crops in October and started to plant native flowers for our pollinators. If you have any questions or interested in adopting a meadow please email [email protected].
