Meet Mz. Woodz AKA Mizzy came to us late yesterday after this wonderful human was able to get her off the streets. She had been there for quite some time. Instead of having her stay in a kennel, her new area is behind by desk at the rescue building. She is SUPER sweet. It pains me to rub her body to comfort her because all I can feel are her bones and I don’t want to hurt her, but she really enjoys when you rub under her chin and neck. The wonderful vets @msah101 will give her a full physical and treatment plan to get her healthy! Stay tuned for her progress over the coming weeks.
SCRIM UPDATE, THOUGHTS AND PLAN: It’s been a really rough couple of days. We are totally frustrated, exhausted and desperate to get to Scrim to safety.
One good thing that Scrim has going for him is that he is in an area, unlike Mizzy was, where there are established feral cat colonies that are monitored and have fresh food and water daily. Thank God for the cat people of Mid City!!!
My fear is that Scrim looks like Mizzy under his matted fur. Sure, he can run fast and elude capture, but until we secure him, we truly don’t truly know his condition. He had a ProHeart 12 injection, his vaccines are current, and his last flea/tick preventative was in April. But that’s the extent of what we know right now. I am in close contact with Scrim’s vets and they are in the loop with everything that has happened and @msah101 main hospital is ready to receive him when he is captured.
#teamscrim or #freescrim. It would appear that there are strong feelings on both sides.
#freescrim people: If you are #freescrim, please unfollow my social media posts. It’s easy. I won’t be upset. If you are in it for my other rescues but are tired of seeing the Scrim posts just keep scrolling past them. That’s easy too. Negative comments are petty and do nothing except waste everyone’s time. I don’t engage with these types of comments, so you are not going to get a rise out of me or get me to
Puppy party bus.
Whew. What a day. We were able to process all puppies and get them ready to go into homes starting tomorrow!
Those that were old enough got vaccines. Everyone was dewormed, microchipped, named, fed, cleaned, fed, cleaned, kissed, cleaned, snuggled, pampered, cleaned and made the day of anyone who came in the office at Freret today so much better.
They are now on our website, so you can peruse www.zeusrescue.org to see if any look like they should go home with you. If you don’t already have an app on file, please complete one at www.zeusrescues.org.
We are so thankful to ARNO for taking 6 of the 23 we got yesterday. Head on over to https://animalrescueneworleans.org to see which ones they have!
I hope you enjoy our ‘puppy train’ video from earlier. They really seem to enjoy it too and it is the easiest/fastest way to move them around the building:)

SCRIM UPDATE: Our sightings are fewer and fewer, but he was spotted at 4:10 today on Palmyra and S. Pierce, headed towards Banks. I have not given up on him, I am just changing it up a little on social media for those who mentioned that I post Scrim too much and not my other rescues:)
6/20 5:45 pm update. 10:50pm S. Scott and Cleveland!
It has been a long 12 hours. We lost track of him around 10:00. Got a text that he was on Louque at 12:33. Someone stopped their car to chase him down the neutral ground and we lost him. He then tracked him all over Lakeview, back to Murat/D’Hemecourt and then back across Canal to the Rouses on Carrollton.
He did stop to rest a couple of times under houses and we got close, but he has a knack of yinging when we are set with the dart gun for him to be yanging.
I’m gonna pause right here and say that without your help, we would have never gotten this close. Paul is in from TX and can’t believe the amount of community engagement we have. I told him that this is what New Orleanians do!
Before you ask, the reason he hasn’t been able to dart him on these sightings is that Scrim must be lined up for a successful darting. Paul is a professional that has been doing this for 43 years. He wants to make sure that the dart doesn’t enter through his ribs and into his lungs or go straight through his eyes into his skull. So even though we are seeing him, there are other things that need to happen at the same time, and they haven’t yet. We are regrouping right now while Scrim is hidden and will be back out again.
Our best guess is that he will go back to the area bounded by Canal, Norman C. Francis, D’Hemecourt and S. Bernadotte. If you see him, please don’t chase. Text FiveOhFour.231.7865 with a street corner and direction travelling. We have people stationed around that area and they will be out quickly.
Thank you again for looking out for this little guy. I really, really appreciate it.

6/29 SCRIM UPDATE.
As of 6:20 this morning, Scrim was headed down Conti at the railroad tracks into Lakeview at City Park Avenue.
Lakeview and Mid City peeps, please keep your eyes out for him at text FiveOhFour.231.7865 with updates!
Paul got in town yesterday. We have had 4 very close captures, but Scr
6/16 2:21pm. SCRIM UPDATE: Canal to Greenwood then unknown. More than likely headed to City Park to hide from the weather.
6/16 12:18pm Telemachus at Palmyra. 12:20pm turned on to Cleveland from Palmyra and headed Downtown. Maybe in bushes or under a house. Keep your eyes open and text updates. He is scared of thunderstorms and starts running. THANK YOU!!!!
6/15 Scrim update: We put trail cameras up around his normal stomping grounds to aid in tracking his movements. There was no evidence of him last night, until 11:37pm. I got a text that he was at Bienville at N. Rocheblave. I wouldn’t have believed that he travelled that far had I not seen the video of him trotting along. Tammy was out there quickly but couldn’t find him. I spent the rest of the sleepless night trying to figure out where he could be in this new neighborhood.
6/16 5:54am: Scrim was back in his old neighborhood. He crossed Banks at S. Genois and was standing on the corner of S. Genois and Palmyra. The very observant sighter said that he must have slept under a house on the Tulane side of Banks and was just getting up given his casual stroll across Banks.
If you live on that block, have a ring camera and a little time, please check to see if he is sleeping under your house. As any of you who have been following the Scrim saga, you know catching him while he is on the run is impossible. If we can surround him under a house again, we have a really good chance of ending his time on the streets!
Thank you so much for putting up with the daily posts about his whereabouts and helping us getting him home safely. I really appreciate it. Michelle

$55,300 from 428 donors!
Whoa. I am speechless but will try to find the words to express my gratitude for the support we received from you yesterday. We almost doubled our goal!! I can’t wait to show y’all the good with do with this money.
Much thanks to the Greater New Orleans Foundation, their hardworking staff and anyone who contributed to any non-profit yesterday. For our organization, you are literally saving lives. For others, you have made NOLA a better place to be every day. For that I am forever grateful. Michelle
THIS WAS AMAZING!!! I was changing the costume on dog statue outside of ZP from Crawfish dog to Festival dog. I stepped away to do some other things and when I went back to hang the flag and add the ice chest, I found the trombone player from The Groove Brass Band softly playing one of my most favorite song on earth (St. James Infirmary Blues). I stopped and listened for a couple of seconds because I couldn’t believe it, then I filmed him through the open window because I didn’t want him to stop and then I had to go outside and meet him and thank him for this most wonderfully odd confluence of events. I found out he was waiting for his Uber to pick him up for his set at French Quarter Fest. Festival dog meet Festival Musician. Well done, Festival dog. Well done. Michelle
The kittens are getting weird.
